the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart-Chapter 784: Can’t Hide for Many Days
Ignatius Leclair’s narrow, phoenix-like eyes glanced at Delphine. Seeing her reach out to tug at his cufflink in a coquettish manner, his heart had already melted, though his face remained expressionless as he replied, "Mm."
It was an agreement.
Chloe Winston’s eyes lit up as she looked at her half-finished plate of spaghetti. Watching Ignatius Leclair turn and leave, she finally sat down happily to continue eating.
Delphine noticed that Chloe’s lovely little face was smudged with dirt. She was eating the spaghetti in big bites, tears streaming down as she ate. Startled, Delphine asked, "What’s wrong?"
"The spaghetti is just too delicious." Chloe wiped her tears, finished the entire plate, then belched. Embarrassed, she covered her mouth and said, "Sorry, I didn’t mean to burp."
Delphine laughed softly and gently said, "Tonight, rest assured and sleep well. I’ve spoken with Kyla Zamora and will find a way to sign you into my studio. From now on, if you want to study, you can study; if you want to act, you can act."
Chloe was initially overjoyed but then pulled a sour face and said, "Sister Delphine, my life pledge contract is still with my ex-husband."
"You divorced Constantine Stewart?" Delphine asked in mild astonishment.
"I dropped the divorce agreement and ran off. And he—he actually went out and found another woman behind my back." Mentioning this, Chloe trembled with anger, "Our life together was already unbearable, and that bastard added an affair to the mix. Damn him."
"How long have you been out?"
"Half a month now. I’ve been hitchhiking all the way here," Chloe said enthusiastically, "Thank goodness I had your phone number, or I’d be sleeping under a bridge tonight."
Standing up, Chloe quietly tugged at Delphine’s sleeve, squinting with a smile, "Sister Delphine, can you please tell Brother-in-law not to let Constantine Stewart know I’m here? I’ve made up my mind—I’ll work hard at acting here in Nanyang and earn a living."
"What about your academics?" Delphine frowned.
"I’ve already applied for academic leave." Chloe’s big eyes sparkled. Anyway, her life was destined to be trapped by Constantine Stewart; reading more books wouldn’t change anything.
Delphine nodded and said, "As long as you’re clear about what you want, that’s good. I’ll take you upstairs to freshen up. Get some rest early."
After settling Chloe upstairs, Delphine came downstairs to find the man had already cleaned the dishes, tidied up the cooking station, and was now sitting on the couch, reviewing documents. Seeing her walk over, he lifted his eyes slightly, his voice low as he said, "That little girl can stay for a few days. Then find her a place to move out."
Delphine nodded. Although she was quite fond of the young girl, both she and Ignatius Leclair shared a preference for a quiet, less-crowded environment.
"Don’t tell Constantine Stewart about Chloe’s situation. Sometimes, when I look at her, it feels like seeing a younger version of myself," Delphine murmured softly.
Ignatius Leclair’s gaze traced down from her rosy, cherry-colored lips to her elegant butterfly-shaped collarbones. His thoughts wavered momentarily before he restrained himself and nodded, his deep phoenix eyes darkened. Then, in a controlled tone, he said, "It won’t stay hidden for long. Constantine Stewart is a businessman, and within a few days, wealthy merchants from all over will gather in Nanyang."
Delphine was slightly surprised by his deliberate mention of this and asked, "Is something about to happen?"
He nodded, his long, jade-like fingers brushing over the papers on the table. His voice resonated deeply as he said, "Everyone knows about my dual personality. Given the current situation, if I don’t relinquish the Leclair Family’s inheritance rights, they’ll join forces to strip the Leclair Family of its position as the leading aristocratic family. The old bastards have been waiting for this moment for a century."
