Chapter 783: Chapter 783: She’s got some nerve expecting Delphine to cook when even she can’t bear to do it herself

Ignatius Leclair arrived at the hospital and informed the old man about Stone Leclair’s stroke. The old man fell silent for a long time before turning away to secretly wipe away a tear. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂

Without saying anything, the man walked out silently, staring at Nathan Leclair, who was lounging outside the ward with one leg crossed over the other.

Nathan had been staying at an apartment downtown recently and hadn’t returned to the Leclair estate.

"You’re just going to ignore the Leclair family’s issues like this? Jocelyn Yeager has already initiated a new generation social circle, and right now, over a third of the families have joined," Nathan said carelessly.

"When Grandfather recovers and is discharged, I’ll resolve everything at once," Ignatius replied, walking away unhurriedly as he gave a dispassionate timeline.

Nathan squinted slightly as he watched Ignatius’s tall and cold silhouette. The world outside was in chaos, yet he seemed perfectly content spending all day at home, either with women or with children. Did he really not care at all about power, status, or the century-old honor of the Leclair family?

After all the back-and-forth, it was nearly evening by the time Ignatius returned to the villa. He instructed Maximilian to take the night off, then got out of the car and entered the house. In the spacious living room, Chloe Winston was sitting on the sofa, devouring her food like she hadn’t eaten in days. Her face was practically buried in her plate as she mumbled between bites, "Delphine, this pasta is amazing. The sauce is first-class. I’ve never had such delicious pasta, really."

"The sauce was purchased by Ignatius. If it’s good, then eat more," Delphine replied with a smile.

Ignatius’s almond-shaped eyes swept over them. He saw Delphine washing fruit at the kitchen counter while the twenty-year-old young woman was wolfing down her meal. His expression immediately turned grim. He didn’t even let Delphine cook for him, and yet this woman thought she was entitled to it?

He let out a cold snort. Chloe, who had been eating with her head down, froze as if someone had hit her pressure point. She shot to her feet and started choking, coughing violently.

Chloe’s face turned red as she coughed uncontrollably, standing there helplessly. She stammered, "H-Hello, Brother-in-law Delphine."

What kind of ridiculous title was that? Ignatius’s face darkened even further.

Without any expression, he strode into the living room. His tall and commanding figure approached as he narrowed his almond-shaped eyes to scrutinize Chloe. Her travel-worn appearance, the suitcase in her hand, and the way she ate like she hadn’t eaten in days—it screamed of someone who had run away from home.

Chloe was so frightened that she didn’t dare touch another bite of her pasta. She glanced at Delphine for help, her heart pounding. Ignatius was the only person other than Constantine Stewart she was truly afraid of. Every inch of his presence screamed, "Don’t mess with me—stay far away!"

Especially after what happened last time—when her actions had almost caused Delphine and Cassius Turner to have a close call. Seeing Ignatius now was like a mouse spotting a cat; she was terrified.

Delphine walked over, holding a plate of freshly washed fruit. When she saw Ignatius staring coldly at Chloe, to the point where the young woman was on the verge of tears, she quietly tugged on his arm. Smiling at Chloe, she said, "Eat slower. Have some fruit, and then I’ll take you to rest in the guest room on the third floor."

"Delphine, you’re the best." Chloe’s big eyes instantly welled up with tears. If not for the man glaring daggers at her, she would’ve hugged Delphine’s arm and started wagging her imaginary tail to beg for more affection.

"She’s staying here, hmm?" Ignatius’s deep voice carried a hint of frost. Since when had his house turned into a shelter? Yeats Howard staying over was one thing—he was there to help care for the child. But this young girl? Was she here to play third wheel?

Seeing his serious expression, Delphine sighed and said, "I’m about to start filming a new movie. Chloe can help me out. She’ll just stay here for now."

Chloe nodded repeatedly. She was truly broke. It had taken her immense effort to make it to the Southern Isles. If she left, she would probably starve to death out there.
