the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart-Chapter 1005: Richard Shaw Is Leaving—Anyone with a Bit of Sense Is Getting Anxious
"Yeah, all you have to do is say a few words, and you can help your sister a lot." Mrs. Landon chimed in.
Crystal Landon smirked, finding her mother amusing. She wasn’t even part of the Shaw Family, yet now because of Pearl Landon, she was supposed to lead a group of socialites, whose names she didn’t even know, to the Shaw Mansion. Even if the old lady was gone, Richard Shaw was still around. Did they think she had no brains? If anything went wrong at the Shaw Family’s place, she’d be in a bind.
As for Pearl Landon offending people, that was her own fault. She had just returned and immediately stepped on others to climb the social ladder, short-sightedly spending money like a fool on a small wooden carving, and in the process offended a bunch of people.
But this matter had happened so long ago, and Pearl Landon was only bringing it up now; she must not have cared about it initially. Her desire to visit the Shaw Mansion was surely for some ulterior motive.
Crystal Landon replied nonchalantly, "I can’t decide on this. I have to call grandma first."
Mrs. Landon and Pearl both sighed in relief. As long as Crystal was willing to ask the Shaw family matriarch, it would be a done deal, given that the old lady doted on Crystal to the core.
Thinking about this, Mrs. Landon couldn’t help but feel a bit jealous. If only Pearl Landon were the one the Shaw family matriarch adored, how wonderful would that be.
"Then I’ll wait for your news. It’s best if you ask tonight; I still need to inform them so they can schedule some time." Pearl Landon reminded uneasily.
Crystal Landon nodded, took her backpack to her room, and then called the matriarch. She asked, "Grandma, are you going to the temple this weekend?"
"Oh? How did you know?" Grandma Shaw sounded surprised, chuckling, "Have you become the worm in my stomach?"
"Richard told me." Crystal rolled on the couch in her room, smiling with squinted eyes. The things Pearl knew must have been learned from Richard Shaw.
"Grandma, I want to bring some people to the Shaw Family’s place to play this weekend." Crystal smiled and pleaded.
The matriarch paused on the phone and then laughed, "Alright, alright, since you want to bring people over, you can."
Grandma Shaw had maintained a low profile over the years, all for the sake of her grandson. Now that her grandson had grown up and could fully support the Shaw Family, she felt it was time to be more public. After all, what did the Shaw Family have to fear?
Grandma Shaw then attentively asked about Crystal’s recent lifestyle before hanging up the phone.
Actually, Pearl’s real agenda was Richard Shaw; it was practically written on her forehead. With Grandma’s approval secured, Crystal could easily guess Pearl’s intentions without a second thought.
She hung up the phone, went downstairs to inform Pearl that it was all set, and then returned to finish her homework without paying attention to Pearl’s excitement.
"Going to the Shaw Family’s place?" The next morning, Crystal called Hawk Howard. Hawk paused slightly, furrowing his sharply angled brow, and replied blandly, "The Shaw Family has kept a low profile these years. If you bring a group of elite children, people might think the Shaw Family is trying to associate with the Imperial City’s aristocrats. Your sister’s ideas really are spontaneous."
"Richard Shaw is leaving soon, and anyone with a bit of sense is anxious." Crystal nestled under the covers, yawning as she chuckled lightly, "The Imperial City’s socialites use the same tactics; it’s nothing surprising once you’ve seen them enough."
For years, Crystal had let herself loose, believing that violence could solve all kinds of tricky situations. Moreover, she had become the most notorious girl in Imperial City; the barefoot don’t fear those who wear shoes—what did she have to fear?
Hawk Howard, recalling that she was not an ordinary socialite, laughed immediately, nodded, and said, "True, I should be worried about others. Tell me, what do you need me to do?"
Only then did Crystal get to the point, saying with a smile, "I’m introducing you to someone—make sure to come."
Hawk Howard hung up the phone right then.
