Chapter 462: Chapter 473: The Chancellor Arrives (9)

——

"Silly girl, don’t overthink it. I will definitely come back safely."

"You said it." Mia Ginger said with a hint of grievance, "Then you must keep that promise."

"Mm." Koa Jackson looked at her, released his grip, then held the back of her head and pulled her into his embrace, holding her tightly.

Mia Ginger hugged him tightly too, using both her hands with such force as if she would break her own arms.

The two of them fell asleep in each other’s arms.

——

The next day, Mia Ginger woke up very early.

Listening to the sound of water from the bathroom, she checked the time on her phone.

6:45 AM.

Thinking about the chaotic night that just passed, she sat up, exhaled a long breath, but still felt uneasy.

She really didn’t want to part with Koa Jackson.

Koa Jackson finished washing up and came out to see her sitting on the bed in a daze.

In a soft voice, he said, "Why not sleep a little longer?"

"I want to go to the hospital with you." As Mia Ginger spoke, she got out of bed and rushed to the bathroom to wash up, not giving him any chance to hesitate or refuse.

Koa Jackson thought for a moment, then said to her, "Choose a thicker coat, it’s cold in the morning."

Mia Ginger mumbled a response.

Koa Jackson took his coat and went to the dining room first to eat breakfast. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

Uncle Lewis had already informed the others about his business trip, and Aunt Lee had gotten up early to make breakfast. When she saw him come out, she quickly urged him to eat, saying as she set the table, "It’s so cold this year, it’s bound to be even colder in Peace. Bring a couple of extra warm clothes."

"Mm, I know." Koa Jackson nodded.

Uncle Lewis glanced at him, then looked toward the bedroom, asking tentatively, "Is that girl still asleep?"

"She’s up, washing up." Koa Jackson answered briefly, then looked up at Uncle Lewis, and also at Aunt Lee and Little Darcy beside him, saying earnestly, "While I’m away, I’ll have to trouble you all to take care of her."

"Why say such things, makes us feel like outsiders." Aunt Lee glared at him and teased, "Rest assured, Aunt Lee will make sure she is well and healthy, so you can check when you return."

Koa Jackson: "..."

Mia Ginger had just arrived at the dining room and heard the words ’well and healthy’, blushing, "What are you talking about?"

"Haha." Aunt Lee teased her on purpose, joking, "You blush just from a few words, it’s my first time seeing a girl as thin-skinned as you."

"..." Mia Ginger glanced at her and simply said nothing.

Sitting down on the chair.

Not moving, watching Koa Jackson eat.

Koa Jackson raised his eyes to meet hers, smiled, and said, "Daydreaming so early in the morning."

Mia Ginger smiled, lowered her head, and began to eat.

She felt like there were still a thousand things she wanted to say, but none of them could come out.

Quietly finished eating.

Just as she got up, Uncle Lewis came back with Caiden Ward.

And George Davis and... a dog?

The dog was quite large, at least half a meter tall at a glance, with predominantly yellow and white fur. It sat on the ground looking at her with a serious expression, its long and thick coat appearing soft and shiny, with a clear outline and elegant posture. It looked like an austere noble.

Mia Ginger thought for a moment and recognized it as a Scottish Collie.

Just—

Why did Caiden Ward bring a dog so early in the morning?

She frowned slightly, looked up questioningly at Koa Jackson.

Koa Jackson chuckled, put his arm around her shoulder, and greeted Caiden Ward, inviting him to the hall.

"Let’s go, Chancellor."

Caiden Ward raised a hand to greet, and the dog that had been sitting elegantly stood up, sauntering gracefully behind him.

Not even wearing a collar.

Behaving as well as a person.

This was the first time Mia Ginger had seen such a dog up close, she curiously gave it a couple more glances.

Yet she was afraid of being bitten and looked wary.

The big dog also watched her, looking serious and equally wary.

Caiden Ward said a couple of words to Koa Jackson, then turned his head to see the person and dog staring at each other, and couldn’t help but laugh, "Already getting along? Do I not need to introduce you?"

"..." Mia Ginger glanced at him with a strange look.

Caiden Ward smirked and said, "This is my beloved dog, Chancellor. I’m painfully giving it to you, treat it well."

"Chancellor?" Mia Ginger looked surprised.

Koa Jackson pinched her cheek with a smile, "Yes, Chancellor is its name. I had Kari bring it over to keep you company at home so you won’t be bored."

Mia Ginger blushed, "I’ve never had a dog before."

"Little Darcy will take care of it." Koa Jackson laughed, "Do you like it?"

Mia Ginger pursed her lips and seriously sized up the big dog.

Chancellor looked at her, face serious.
