The Trending Topic Herself: The Villainess is the Superstar!-Chapter 203: Simply Too Arrogant
All the judges’ eyes were fixed on Maya Monroe, watching intently.
But they waited for a long time without seeing Maya make any move. One judge took a sip of water irritably, restrained by Yvonne Hall not daring to say anything.
He banged the mineral water bottle onto the table, his chest slightly heaving.
The atmosphere was momentarily silent.
Maya didn’t feel embarrassed at all, even exchanged a few glances with the judges with interest. Her left foot stretched forward, and just when everyone thought she was about to perform, they realized she just shifted her position and continued to stand nonchalantly.
Suddenly her gaze paused, she walked straight towards the chair used for props, casually tossed the basket placed on the bench to a nearby table, then sat down unceremoniously.
Arrogant! So utterly arrogant!!
All the judges except Yvonne Hall frowned deeply, one couldn’t help but speak: "Three minutes have passed already! Do you know there’s a time limit for the performance?! Time’s almost up, and you’re still sitting there!"
"Do you even want to perform? Are you here to waste everyone’s time?!"
Maya slightly raised her head to look at the clock on the wall; the allotted performance time was four minutes, there were still a few more seconds...
Yvonne coughed twice, eyes on Maya: "Are you feeling unwell?"
"No." Maya’s expression remained leisurely, even crossing her legs.
"So what’s the reason?" Yvonne’s voice was as gentle as ever, quite different from her previously stern image.
The numbers on the clock kept changing, finally stopping at an integer.
Maya withdrew her gaze: "I forgot."
"Forgot?" Yvonne slightly frowned: "What did you forget? Lines or actions?"
"All of it."
"All of it...?"
This made the expressions on all the judges’ faces even more complex and difficult to look at; they whispered to each other, their eyebrows raised excitedly.
Maya’s hearing was good; she generally caught some of their discussions, merely about her being unprofessional or acting like a diva...
She didn’t show it on her face, but inwardly, she was rather amused.
Maya hadn’t planned to perform the script from the start; she came just to slack off. If the last audition for "Wandering Beyond the Horizon" was like a blind cat stumbling upon a dead mouse, then doing nothing this time would surely zero the chance of success.
By then, when Kiki Monroe succeeds in the audition, the story would be back on track. Kiki would be happy, she’d be happy, and everyone would be happy.
Yvonne also slightly frowned, despite her partial interest in Maya being due to benefits, she genuinely admired Maya, always believing she could play the leading role in "Mirror," but now Maya said she forgot everything...
Yvonne tried to adjust her expression, paused: "It must be because of nervousness. Nervousness during an audition can make you forget lines, which I’ve seen a lot, and I understand. So..."
Among all the judges, Yvonne undoubtedly held the highest status and had the most say.
As soon as Yvonne spoke, all the judges couldn’t help but look in her direction, waiting for her to deal with Maya.
"I’ll give you another ten minutes to look at the script again. Maya, I believe you won’t disappoint me."
All the judges were shocked, unable to believe Yvonne was so protective of Maya. Everyone knew Yvonne was famously stern and difficult; just a moment ago, she lectured an actor for stuttering during lines. But now... Yvonne’s attitude towards Maya was so different...
Maya’s expression shifted slightly, her eyes filled with humor and interest, with no trace of nervousness.
She didn’t expect that even with such a poor performance, Yvonne would still give her a chance.
She narrowed her eyes slightly: "No need."
Yvonne couldn’t gauge Maya’s attitude, carefully asked: "Ten minutes not enough? Then fifteen?"
Maya chuckled softly and stood straight. She estimated that time was up, leisurely saying: "I’m just too slow to memorize anything, even if I had ten hours."
She stretched lazily, looking a bit tired: "I’m a bit tired, let’s just leave it at that."
After saying that, she walked straight towards the door, and the moment she opened it, the dazzling sunlight spilled over her, instantly beautiful like a brilliantly colored oil painting.
The judges exchanged glances, unable to believe what happened.
It was the first time they’d encountered a situation where an auditionee came in, sat for a few minutes, then left, without the slightest embarrassment or nervousness, as if she came just to drop by.
"How could there be such a out-of-touch artist?! Her audition is as playful as kids’ games. Why would she sign up if she’s just playing us?!"
"I suspect she’s here to fool us! Walking around and leaving right away, I’ve never seen anyone so brazen!"
...
Yvonne didn’t speak, slightly lowering her gaze, her expression also complex.

Ryan Spencer had been waiting outside the room for Maya; since the room was well soundproofed, he had no idea how Maya performed.
"Out so soon? How did you perform? How did the judges’ expressions look?"
Maya walked down the stairs with him, a hint of amusement in her voice, seemingly quite pleased: "I performed so well, people couldn’t find a single flaw in it, I’m very satisfied!"
"As for the judges..." She paused her steps, speaking in an elongated tone half-truthfully: "I scared them dumb."
"Scared them dumb...?" Ryan pondered over this.
What does it mean to scare them dumb? Why would they be scared dumb?
But seeing Maya’s triumphant look, he guessed she must have performed quite well. He didn’t need to overthink those adjectives, as Maya’s language skills weren’t great; she probably meant the judges highly praised her.
After analyzing this, Ryan couldn’t help but sigh contentedly: "I knew you wouldn’t let me down. Maya, let’s not head back to the company for now; let’s go to a restaurant to celebrate."
"Celebrate what?"
Maya had already stepped down the last stair, turning her head to look at him.
"What else to celebrate? Of course, an early celebration for you getting the role! Director Huang already thought highly of you, plus your described judges’ reactions, this role should be secure."
"Do you trust me that much?" Maya asked, her meaning vague.
