The Trending Topic Herself: The Villainess is the Superstar!-Chapter 202: Kiki Monroe Gets Put in Her Place
Kiki’s makeup was still on her face, now a shade darker than before, with a pair of rigid black-framed glasses perched on her nose. It seemed she had done quite a bit of preparation for this audition.
Maya exhaled a breath of relief; it was good that the protagonist was competitive. This way, she could leave quickly and get something to eat.
Kiki stopped in front of Maya, her head slightly bowed, casting a disdainful sidelong glance at her.
But before she could say anything, Maya’s impatient voice rang out:
"This isn’t a thoroughfare. Why are you squeezing in here? Don’t you know blocking someone’s view is rude?"
Kiki’s expression stiffened, then she smiled and said, "I just wanted to have a chat with you. You don’t mind, do you?"
Maya, with a lollipop still in her mouth, absentmindedly raised her head and snorted, "I mind a lot."
"If you know you’re annoying, then don’t bother coming near others."
Kiki bit her lip, incredulous that Maya’s words were so sharp right off the bat.
"Maya, besides acting like a prima donna, what else can you do? I’m coming over to chat because I think highly of you. Don’t be so ungrateful!"
Seeing Maya raise her phone with the camera pointed directly at her, Kiki was suddenly panicked. She quickly half-covered her face: "What are you doing? Why are you raising your phone?!"
The bodyguard next to Kiki immediately stepped forward to shield her.
Maya took the lollipop out of her mouth, raised her hand with the phone, her smile innocent yet cruel: "Just recording a video of a big star, to post online later."
Hearing that Maya was actually recording, Kiki no longer covered her face. She lowered her hand and stormed forward a few steps.
"Quick, delete the video! Hurry!! Delete it!!"
Maya’s smile deepened: "Forgot to mention, I’m still recording now!"
Kiki was so angry she could barely breathe, alternately covering and uncovering her face, clearly upset.
With a glance from her, her bodyguard took a few steps forward.
"Who are you planning to bully? Do you really think I don’t have a bodyguard?" Maya chuckled softly, turning her head to look at Scott.
Maya hadn’t brought a bodyguard when she entered the venue, and Scott was stunned for two seconds before realizing he was the "bodyguard" Maya referred to.
He had to brace himself and walk over, gripping the edge of his pure white hoodie, facing the two larger men with a stern face, though his eyes were somewhat shifty.
Scott: I feel miserable inside, but I can’t say...
Kiki looked over and saw Scott’s frail appearance, and her anger flared up again. Wasn’t Maya just blatantly looking down on her?!
Maya slightly raised her head, lazily smiled: "Still want to keep bothering me? Then I’ll upload it."
"Three."
"Two..."
"Maya, just you wait! Once the audition results are out, let’s see how cocky you are! The lead role is definitely mine, don’t even think about it!!"
After delivering her harsh words, Kiki’s steps were all over the place as she left with her entourage.
Scott returned to his seat weak all over.
He decided he would start working on muscle building when he got back...
Maya yawned, spun her phone around by the corner, then put it back in her pocket.
Ryan Spencer asked, "Did you really record that?"
Maya stuffed the candy back in her mouth, her voice a bit muffled: "I was just teasing her."
Ryan chuckled lightly.
"Artist number seventy-six, please proceed to the second floor for your audition!"
As the broadcast sounded, Maya clicked her tongue in irritation.
Ryan hurriedly tidied her hair: "Stop eating, hurry up, it’s time for your audition. Are you ready?"
Maya gently pushed his hand away, tying her hair up herself: "I’m ready."
"Don’t forget everything I just said. Go over the materials I sent you in your head quickly. By the way..."
Ryan turned the script over for her: "Quick, take a few more looks at the scene you’re about to perform. Forgetting lines during an audition is the worst!"
Maya went upstairs, brushing past a beautiful girl at the staircase, who looked dejected, as if the audition process hadn’t gone well.
Maya heard Ryan greet the girl, indicating she was someone with a certain amount of fame. Of course, Maya didn’t recognize her.
This audition was different from the previous "Wandering Beyond the Horizon" audition. Upon reaching the second floor, a staff member led Maya to another hall. Only auditioning actors were allowed in, with only the director and a few production members as judges, allegedly to avoid distractions.
Ryan watched Maya with concern.
Maya glanced at him, then stepped into the room.
Entering the door, she saw a familiar face sitting among the judging panel, it was Yvonne Hall.
Yvonne smiled at her, her voice somewhat amiable: "Come over quickly."
The other judges sitting by Yvonne exchanged glances, quietly contemplating the situation. Yvonne was usually a cold-faced woman in power, and it was their first time seeing her behave so warmly during an audition. If listened closely, there was a hint of subtle flattery in her tone.
What was going on?
Maya slowly walked to the center, about four or five meters from the judges’ table.
Another judge spoke up: "Are you contestant number seventy-six, Maya Monroe?"
Sitting right next to Yvonne so unsure of her stance, his tone wasn’t as stern as before.
Unlike other aspiring actors who were respectful and humble, Maya just nodded lazily, "Yes."
This demeanor of not wanting to continue the conversation was indeed extremely arrogant.
It was the first time the judges encountered such an unrestrained actor. "Mirror" was a big production, and even top-tier actors had to be on their best behavior; how was it that she alone was so arrogant?
The judge’s face turned cold: "Introduce yourself."
Yvonne frowned, gave the judge beside her a rebuking glance, then turned her eyes back to Maya, her tone soft: "Maya, come on, introduce yourself."
"Maya."
No further words came, just those two words constituted her entire self-introduction.
Watching the judges’ faces grow darker one by one, Maya slightly curled her lips.
Yvonne coughed lightly, her tone unchanged: "That’s indeed a very unique and interesting introduction." 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
"I remember you’ve chosen a performance segment, so next—I look forward to your performance."
After Yvonne spoke, everyone looked at Maya with anticipatory yet scrutinizing eyes.
Maya smiled gently and noncommittally nodded.
Yvonne asked, "Maya, are you ready now?"
"Ready."
Her voice remained listless and lethargic, leading to a rather astonishing next scene.
