The Trending Topic Herself: The Villainess is the Superstar!-Chapter 181: Troll Provocation
"Haven’t you done enough bad things before? Do you really think you can solve it by randomly issuing a few press releases? Your ugly face is as consistent as ever! The internet has memory; who doesn’t know the crap you’ve done usually! You trash, better off exiting the entertainment industry voluntarily!"
Maya froze in her movements and looked towards the source of the voice, spotting a fat guy in the crowd nearby, arrogantly ranting. If not for the mask, one could imagine the spit flying out of his mouth.
He was wrapped up tightly, black mask, black coat, even his shoes were black, with small eyes like mung beans gleaming, shaking the sign in his hand enthusiastically.
He was holding a white board with some large words scrawled in cheap red ink: "Maya Monroe will flop!"
Ryan Spencer frowned, positioning himself in front of Maya while signaling to the bodyguard behind him.
Seeing Maya glance over, the man seemed even more energized, shifting his bloated body forward: "Why aren’t you speaking now? Did I hit the nail on the head?! You’re just a plastic surgery freak, a brainless vase who climbed your way up through shady deals!!"
In the midst of mentally composing more insults, the man suddenly froze. That’s because Maya beamed a bright smile at him, yes, a radiant smile, tinged, undeniably, with a bit of mockery.
The next second, he saw her pull a funny face, extending her slender fingers with the middle finger raised.
Her face still wore a smile, yet the rebellious arches of her eyebrows coupled with the "middle finger" gesture from her hand were bold, audacious.
The man’s voice abruptly stopped, with the bodyguards quickly gripping his arms, about to drag him outside.
"Maya Monroe! You’ll flop sooner or later!!"
The man struggled and looked back, his gaze landing on Maya’s carefree departing silhouette.
Scott followed behind, clutching several packages, muttering: "How come there are brainless haters everywhere, cursing and swearing without exception..."
Ryan looked at Maya beside him: "Weren’t scared just now, were you?"
Maya smiled lightly, her voice retaining a slight nasal sound: "Just a stray dog barking randomly."
Ryan’s anxious heart settled: "That’s good, I remember you used to really dislike it when haters came looking for trouble, didn’t expect you can handle it so calmly now."
Ryan recalls Maya in the past dealing with such "hater attacks", shaking with rage, screaming shrilly about locking them in jail forever, to eat prison food for life unable to escape!
Ryan had prepared to suppress the bad news, but unexpectedly... Maya now manages these situations with ease.
"People grow, don’t they? Experience enough things, and you naturally learn to deal with them."
Ryan nodded in agreement: "Though you might be one of those who realized things a bit late, but you’ve realized nonetheless. Good, just remember not to let extreme situations drive you to madness, because if you do..."
Ryan looked at Maya’s superior profile, yet the memory of her "ugly photos" being trolled on hot searches couldn’t be found. He vaguely recalled her face covered in snot and tears, black eye makeup smeared across her upper face.
At some point, that persona clad in dazzling gowns and exaggerated makeup had vanished, replaced by...
"What would happen then?" Maya’s lips still held a trace of smile.
Replaced by the beautiful striking face before him.
Ryan paused: "You should remember your previous ugly photos; being cautious is never wrong. Audiences love elegant artists, you know."
Maya pondered and nodded.
"Showing the finger just now wasn’t too graceful, a bit off from your current image. Next time just stay quietly aside, let the bodyguards handle it."
"Not graceful?" Maya snorted coldly, a chill flickering in her eyes: "Showing the finger is letting him off cheap; the next time anyone dares to provoke me like this, I’ll just kick him right in the butt!"
Her usually subdued demeanor, now emanated a slightly murderous air.
Ryan retracted his previous words; more impressive than her looks is her aura.
There are countless beauties in the world, but there’s only one Maya Monroe; she’s unique, irreplaceable...
Scott chimed in from the side: "Yeah, yeah, those haters are so rampant! Give them any leeway, and they’ll walk all over you! Best to be like Sister Maya, act a bit fierce, teach them some lessons, and they’ll know better than to mess with you!"
Maya glanced back at Scott: "Scott always understands me."
Her gaze was so intent that Scott’s face suddenly turned crimson.
Ryan sighed: "Alright, I get it, what you did wasn’t...bad."
"No point dwelling on these unfortunate things, right, the ’Mirror’ audition is coming up soon. I’ve already given you the script and materials; how’s your prep going?"
Once Ryan mentioned this, Maya’s previous fierce aura slightly deflated.
She reached out and touched her nose, covering the small red mole there.
"The script... well... of course I’ve read it."
"Really?"
"Of course it’s true, not only read it but I’ve researched it overnight for several nights."
This claim only made Ryan suspicious: "You, Maya Monroe, researched all night for several nights? Who are you trying to fool?"
"Maya, be honest, did you not look at it at all? You, who’s so lazy and loves procrastination, would burn the midnight oil for a script?"
He shook his head, sighed: "No, I’ll find a teacher to properly analyze and guide you, nonetheless, I’m an outsider in acting. With just a bit of effort for a few days before the audition, a last-minute brush-up is better than no preparation at all."
Maya’s smile turned slightly bitter: "Oh? Need to find a teacher then?"
She patted her chest and assured: "I said researched means researched, Ryan, why don’t you trust me? When have I ever lied to you! Must I dig my heart out for you to believe..."
"Hold on, hold on..." Ryan exhaled, helpless: "How’s this conversation just spinning out further."
"You’re claiming you’ve never lied... I think your mind’s muddled, haven’t you tricked me enough times? Don’t you just ramble on like a runaway train with every topic? I think your lies might even outnumber your truths!"
"Ryan, how can you think of me like that? I pride myself on being honest and trustworthy, nowhere near as outrageous as you say!"
