Reborn With A Technology System In A Fantasy World-Chapter 306: Rest, At Last.
Ten years later.
To the public eye, the galaxy was ruled by the Galactic Concordat, and at its helm sat President Charles Sparkborn.
He was the perfect statesman: charismatic, tireless, and fiercely dedicated to the new doctrine of Universal Equilibrium. Under his administration, the concept of a backwater planet had been abolished. The System provided equal resources, equal education, and an equal shot at the stars.
But while Charles signed the treaties and shook the hands, the universe didn’t know that the ink on the paper only held because a silent force held the pen.
On a secluded planet; a world of rolling emerald hills and twin suns, that silent force was currently trying to flip a burger.
"You’re burning it," a voice deadpanned.
Adrian looked up from the grill on his back porch with a smirk. "I am currently regulating three solar systems so they don’t collapse, Karl. Cut me some slack on the meat."
Karl leaned against the railing. He held a drink in one hand, and his grin was still present. "Please. We all know that’s not an excuse. And that aside, Charles is complaining, you know. He says they might need your help to expand some warp tunnels."
"Tell the President to file a ticket," Adrian laughed, flipping the burger perfectly this time. "Besides, I don’t need to do everything. They should figure it out."
"I’ll tell him you’re busy playing house," Serena’s voice joined them. She walked out of the house carrying a bowl of salad, looking radiant.
She moved to Karl’s side, and he instinctively wrapped an arm around her waist, pressing a light kiss to her cheek.
"I mean, he is very busy," Nyra remarked, stepping out behind her with a tray of drinks. "He’s watching them."
The four adults looked out toward the creek at the edge of the property.
It was chaos, but of the most beautiful kind.
"You can’t catch me!" Leo, Adrian’s son, shouted. He was seven years old, with messy white hair and a mischievous grin. He wasn’t running; he was hovering three feet off the ground, drifting like a kite caught in a breeze.
Chasing him was Sophia, Karl’s daughter. She was running on the grass, but she moved with a blur of speed that kicked up leaves in her wake. "Get down here and fight fair, Leo!"
"Gotcha!" a third voice squealed.
From the canopy of the great oak tree, a small figure dropped like a stone directly onto Leo’s floating back.
It was Leny, Leo’s twin sister. She had Adrian’s blue eyes and Nyra’s golden hair. She laughed, tackling the floating boy out of the air and into a pile of soft grass.
Adrian leaned back against the grill, watching them wrestle. Everyone spoke of his power, but they didn’t see what he saw. He looked at his children and felt a thrill that was half pride, half awe.
The energies didn’t just flow through them; they obeyed them. They were an evolution. One day, they would eclipse him entirely, possessing a potential that this universe had never seen before.
His mind drifted, crossing the vast, impossible distance of the void. He thought of where he had come from. A small blue marble called Earth, tucked away in the spiral arm of the Milky Way.
He remembered the moment he realized that the Milky Way did exist, and that he was simply borrowed by this Galaxy.
The Tech Core had recognized something in him and given him a second chance at life to restore order.
He could have returned. The bridge back to Earth was theoretically possible. But as he watched Nyra laugh at something Serena said, he knew he never would. He was happy here. He couldn’t ask for a better life.
People often whispered about the burden of the Galaxy, assuming Adrian was crushed under the weight of it. They were wrong.
Controlling the System, maintaining the laws of physics, and keeping the stars burning wasn’t a burden to him. It was as automatic as breathing.
He knew there were other galaxies out there in the deep dark. Some were likely older, larger, and far stronger than this one.
But Adrian had learned the ultimate truth: contact was dangerous. Separation was survival. That was how the Universe was meant to be. Let the others have their space; he would keep his family safe in this one.
"Alright, food’s ready!" Adrian called out, snapping out of his thoughts. "Kids! Wash up!"
They ate in the warm glow of the twin suns, the conversation drifting from politics to the children’s schooling. Eventually, the plates were cleared, and the afternoon heat began to settle in.
Karl and Serena eventually took Sophia home to their estate just across the valley, and the twins were finally asleep, worn out by their own energy.
The house was quiet.
Adrian stood on the balcony of the master bedroom, looking up at the tapestry of stars. He wasn’t just seeing light. He was seeing the flow of energies, the stability of black holes, the heartbeat of what now belonged to him.
"You’re always monitoring the Galaxy," Nyra’s voice came from the doorway.
Adrian turned, the faint glow in his eyes fading. "Not really," he said softly, leaning back against the railing. "There’s nothing for me to do. The System is perfect; it runs itself. I’m just... resting."
He met her in the middle of the room. Nyra placed her hands on his chest, feeling the steady thrum of power that lay beneath the skin. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
"Well, the kids are asleep," she whispered, using her finger to trace the line of his jaw. "And I’ve finished everything downstairs."
"Oh, really?" Adrian asked with a smirk, his hands finding her waist.
"Which means," she murmured, stepping closer, "it’s time for you to handle something more important."
She didn’t give him a chance to respond. Nyra shoved him backward, guiding him toward the bed. Adrian laughed, letting the cosmic responsibilities slip away as they tumbled onto the mattress together.
The galaxy continued to spin outside. Civilizations advanced, stars were born, and history was written. But in that room, the noise of the universe faded into silence.
Adrian looked up at Nyra, who hovered over him, her hair falling like a curtain around their faces.
"I love you," she whispered, leaning down to his face.
"I love you too," Adrian replied.
He pulled her down, and as their lips met, he finally, truly, rested.
THE END.
