Chapter 96: Ch 96: Uninvited Guests- Part 5

Lynn ran away from the horde of monsters trying to fight him. He knew he could take them all, but a part of him told him to save his strength.

So that’s what he did as he walked back in the direction where the previous gate had opened and a hunter team had been annihilated by something... or rather, someone.

For some reason, just before he and the emergency team had entered the dungeon, the gate coordinates inside the dungeon had changed.

Moreover, all of the current team members who entered were scattered.

This had never happened before, so he did not know what to make of it.

"What an annoying place. I should try and find others first before I do anything."

He told himself as he looked at the blank map on his system screen. That was more concerning than anything else at the moment.

Not one to be discouraged, Lynn managed to make his way back to the clearing and looked around. It was a magnificent space with flowers covering the whole place. It felt... different now.

Initially, the clearing had no such flowers, and the live stream proved it. But now it was covered in these soft-scented flowers.

The scent of these flowers was so strong that even Lynn felt his knees buckle...

"Huh-! These flowers... why do they smell like alpha pheromones? And a very familiar scent at that. Tsk, have I finally gone mad?"

The alpha asked himself as he tried to think. But that strong scent all around him made that task impossible.

He looked around, but there was no sign of the dead hunters anywhere. So he decided to walk around and follow the trail these flowers left behind.

It did not take long for him to track down a strong monster, and for the first time in a long time, his instincts told him to turn around and pretend he did not know anything.

They told him that he would die if he continued like this, and that, more than anything, made Lynn curious.

"Huh-! Am I... afraid right now? Me? The former no.1 hunter... am I afraid of something?"

Lynn asked himself before he stopped walking. He could sense a strong presence not too far away from him.

"Former no.1 hunter, huh? Is that how you view yourself? You humans truly love to live in your glorious past, huh! Or... maybe you cannot accept the fact that you are no.2 now?"

The voice taunted him, and it sounded vaguely familiar.

’It’s... the voice from the video. This monster is the one who killed those hunters...’

Lynn felt goosebumps all over his body as soon as he sensed that presence behind his back. Something about the monster behind his back made his skin crawl with fear.

But he was not someone who showed his emotions easily.

"Hmm, you could say that I am a little self-centric. But I would say that my good looks more than make up for it, right miss? Now, would you mind if I ask you a few more questions? I am a rather curious person, you see."

Lynn asked, only to get a chuckle for his efforts.

"I see. You certainly do look the type to meddle. And that’s why... people like you need to be taken out quickly. Don’t you agree?"

The female asked, and before Lynn could even get his weapon out, he felt a hand grab and squeeze his hand.

It caused him to drop his knife, and Lynn looked shocked. This had never happened to him before in his life.

"H-Huh... how did you—"

The next second, a punch landed on his unprotected stomach, causing him to clutch it. He also finally got a look at the female monster harming him.

’A-A human...?’

The female certainly looked like a woman and a beautiful one at that. The only difference between a human and the monster was her energy and her inhuman eyes.

"Well, that was easy. Then again, I never expected a human to last against a high priestess anyway. You would make a good sacrifice for our lord. He specifically asked for you as well."

The female told Lynn, and he felt shocked to hear her.

"W-What do you..."

He tried to use his powers, but his body felt too heavy to move. Something was wrong with him since he could not even use his powers.

"Did you like the scent of the flowers our lord gifted us with? I am sure even moving is difficult for you at the moment. So don’t fight your fate and be reborn as our lord’s person."

The female told Lynn before he lost consciousness and was taken away.

"Kuro... no, who are you—?"

I asked as I touched the hands holding my eyes.

The darkness welcomed me, but I did not feel afraid. The overwhelming scent of familiar alpha pheromones around me calmed me down enough to make me let my guard down.

"I don’t like the fact that you said someone else’s name even when I am standing right next to you. But then again, I doubt you remember my true name, so I will forgive you this time."

The voice told me as the hand around my middle moved to clutch me tighter.

I felt caged but free at the same time. My body felt delighted to have the alpha hold me, but my brain told me that this was all wrong.

"W-Who are you—"

I finally found the courage to break the hold the person had on me, and I looked back.

Theo’s familiar face greeted me... no, that was not Theo.

The stranger just looked like Theo, but something about that face and those eyes looked... different. They looked more dangerous.

And yet, despite that, I felt no fear as I looked back. I could only sense curiosity and a longing in my soul. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

’W-What is happening to me—! Why am I behaving like this...’

I asked myself, but I had no answer for these questions. I only knew that my body was acting weirdly, and that scared me a little.

"Hmm, looks like our time has to be cut short, but don’t worry. We will meet again soon. No one in this dungeon will harm you because I won’t let you. But you have to be careful as well. If possible, I would like you to not interfere. But I understand that I’m likely asking for something impossible."

The stranger with Theo’s face told me, and for some reason, I felt like I could trust him about this.

His body began to fade quickly, but the person did not look panicked.

If anything, he looked resigned as he gave me a smile to make me calm down.

"We shall meet soon. Until then, try not to get close to anyone else because I won’t let anyone else be by your side."

That felt like a promise and a threat at the same time. My body shuddered, and I blinked at the warning.

And just like that, the stranger was gone, and the scent of pheromones lightened around me.

"Kyle—! Are you alright? You tensed up and wouldn’t respond... I got worried..."

I had not noticed when Kuro got so close to me, but one thing was for sure—this dungeon had started to mess with my mind now.
