The Top Omega Hunter Wants a Quiet Life [BL]-Chapter 88: Ch : Don’t Go- Part 1
My declaration was followed by silence and everyone around me looked at me in shocked silence.
Theo’s expression looked especially betrayed and I could see his lower lip trembling as he tried to keep his cool.
Our eyes met and Theo quickly looked away from me before I could even say anything to him. And that made me sigh in irritation and... something else I could not explain.
Every fiber in my body wanted me to make Theo look at me again and explain why I was choosing to take such a difficult path. But at the same time... I did not have the courage to make him look at me.
So all I could do was stare at the back of his head and wait for him to turn his head my way.
As that happened, I took one glance around the room once more and my eyes met Lynn’s. He had a strange expression on his face but I looked away from him before I could figure something out.
The very next second, Lynn stood up and clapped his hands.
"Now that we have it all figured out, we should get going now. Kyle, you don’t need to pack anything since the guild will provide you with everything you need."
Lynn told me and he was secretly telling me that it was time for us to go.
I did not want to leave while things were still awkward between me and Theo, but I did not have a choice.
The dungeon was dangerous, not only to me and Theo, but to humanity as a whole. Lynn would not have come to get me otherwise.
So that left me with the only option to go and clear it out... for everyone’s sake.
"Alright. Give me a second to grab some stuff and then we can leave."
I told Lynn as I stood up to head to my room. The only things I wanted to grab were Kuro’s bottle and take Kuro with me.
Kuro sensed what I wanted to do and followed me. Emma did not notice since she was too busy trying to come to terms with all the shocking news she heard today.
I closed my room’s door and waited for Kuro to show up. But when the door opened up, it was someone else that shocked me on the other side of the door.
"Huh-! Theo, what are you doing here..."
I asked as the alpha continued to walk toward me. His presence caused me to take a few steps back as well until my back hit the wall.
Theo’s arms caged me between himself and the wall and his face had a shadow of doubt on it when he looked at me.
"Kyle, are you serious about heading to the dungeon? Please, don’t go. I am begging you not to go and stay with me. Please."
Theo’s voice sounded shaky and I could even hear tears in his voice when he spoke. He was ready to break down at any given second and I felt bad for him.
One look at Theo’s face was enough to make my resolve falter and that felt too dangerous.
’Don’t look at Theo. You cannot afford to back out of going to the dungeon, no matter how much you want to.’
I told myself, but the part of my brain that was responsible for rational thoughts tried to make an excuse once more.
The more I felt my resolve weaken, the more I wanted to look away from Theo and push him away.
So in the end, that was what I did. I pushed him away and looked him in the eyes before breaking eye contact.
"Theo, you should go. I need to head to this dungeon for everyone’s sake. But I will come back soon, so you don’t need to worry. I already survived an S-class dungeon. An A-class one should be fine for me to handle."
I tried to joke around but the alpha was not ready to listen to me.
Strong arms wrapped around my arms and Theo’s angry voice made me look at his face next.
"It is not going to be fine! Why do you need to keep sacrificing yourself for others? Haven’t you already done enough as Ace already? I read what you did and... how you disappeared for ten years. What if that happens again? I won’t be able to live without you. I love you."
Theo told me with a sincere voice and for the first time it felt like his feelings were genuine.
His words made my heart skip a beat and my heart felt like it was about to leap out of my chest. I was sure my face was just as red as well.
"Kyle, if you go now, then I have a feeling we won’t meet again. So can you... not go and stay with me? I am sure the dungeon will sort itself out."
Theo told me with certainty but I pushed his hand away and shook my head.
"I cannot do that. This dungeon is dangerous and if we neglect it, then it can cause a lot of harm. I don’t want this dungeon to erupt because then even you and those precious to me would be in danger. So I need to head out now."
I told Theo and he still looked not ready to hear me out.
"T-Then, let me come with you. I want to come and protect you. Even if I cannot fight, I can at least be your shield."
Now I froze at Theo’s words and gave him a startled look. That was one thing I did not expect Theo to ever say.
But his eyes told me that he was quite serious about his claim to follow me and protect me.
"Theo..." 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
I started, but he looked determined to follow me.
"If you won’t listen to me, then I don’t need to listen to you and sit still either. I will follow you to the dungeon and protect you—"
My pheromones acted before my mind did and I used a huge amount of them to startle Theo. His eyes looked half-lidded as he sensed my pheromones.
’What am I doing?’
I asked myself as I used my pheromones to calm the alpha down and put him to sleep. I had never used my pheromones this gently before, so I had no idea what was right and wrong to do.
"K-Kyle... what are you... I need to... stay awake...."
Theo reached out to me with his shaky hands and I grabbed the outstretched one before I gave him a small pat.
"It will all be fine. Just take a small sleep break and stay here. Emma and Ben will keep you company. And I promise you that I will come back before you know it."
I told Theo as I gently pushed him on the bed.
The alpha reached out to me and he looked betrayed.
"I-I won’t listen to you... anymore... at all..."
The alpha tried to warn me, but I could only give him a smile in the end.
"It’s fine. As long as you, Emma, and others remain alive and well, I will take your silence... or your absence. Please, take care of yourself."
