Chapter 67: Ch 67: Secret Out- Part 4

Kuro had refused to give me a lot of information, but what little he did give me convinced me that I needed to enter the dungeon again somehow and take a look inside.

At last, the black mass had promised to be my guide if I was able to find my way into the dungeon again... which was not going to be easy.

Dungeon #36’s door was special and only selected individuals were allowed entry into the area.

’Not that it’s going to stop me. I am heading there once everyone’s asleep.’

Joshua was already under sedatives and Sam was with him. Sasha and Amy had also retired to their rooms after dinner and I knew that it was the perfect opportunity for me to leave... or so I thought.

But as soon as I got out of my wing, someone was waiting for me there.

"Are you thinking of heading to dungeon #36 all alone? Then, do you mind if I tag along? You won’t even know that I am here or anything."

Lynn asked me, his perfect smile plastered all over his face as he moved to stand in front of me.

My impassive look was not enough to make him deter or change his mind and I had a feeling that it would not be easy to make him back down.

Ultimately, I sighed and decided that my best choice was to ignore the Alpha and whatever he did.

The Alpha took my lack of speech as an agreement to follow me and he quickly stepped behind me.

"I promise to behave from now on. Don’t worry, Ace. I won’t do anything to cause you trouble and—"

"Stop calling me that. I am not Ace. You will get in trouble and cause a misunderstanding."

I told Lynn, not wanting him to flaunt my actual name all over the place.

Even if I could tell that there was no one around me at the moment, I did not want to risk being found out by anyone else either.

The Alpha looked taken aback by my harsh words but his smile did not falter for even a second when he looked at me once more.

"Hmm, I understand. In that case, should I call you Kyle? I have to admit that it is a lovely name. Is that your real name—?"

"Just call me Manet. Tsk, I am having a small headache just talking to you."

I told the Alpha as I felt my neck flush at the intense gaze that was being cast my way. The Alpha looked far too happy when I insulted him.

"Manet—? Yeah, got it. Then, does that make us friends? Can I officially wrap my arms around you like a friend—"

Lynn asked as his arms decided to demonstrate what he said by trying to sneak around my middle.

I tensed up and slapped his hand away before they could embrace me fully.

"Stay in your lane and do not try to touch me if you know what is good for you."

I told the Alpha and he pouted as he pretended to rub his swollen hand.

"Tsk, you are so mean. All I wanted to do was help you out. You don’t have to be so angry about it."

The Alpha told me but my look did not change. I did not feel sorry for the fake tears this man let out. Even he realized that his acting was no longer working and stopped pretending and straightened his back.

We walked around carefully, avoiding security cameras and I had to admit that Lynn was a good partner in that regard.

Not only did he know the location of most cameras, but he also knew how to dismiss them so that we wouldn’t be caught. Something about this whole experience told me that he had experience doing this... and a lot of experience at that.

"Alright, we are done here. The arena would be empty at this time since it’s dinner break for the guards. We have a fifteen-minute window to enter the dungeon through security. Are you ready?"

Lynn asked as he grinned and stretched his arms. He looked excited to be able to finally use his powers.

I sighed and followed him while getting ready myself to use my powers.

Ringggggg-

As soon as the siren started, I used my skill [Evidence Erasure] to erase mine and Lynn’s presence.

The alarm fell silent and Lynn whistled, his face giving me an impressed look.

"Oh wow—! How did you do that? What kind of skill was that? Can I learn it as well? It seems like one that would come in handy at times."

Lynn told me as he continued to walk not too far away from me. Maybe he instinctively noticed that he needed to stay close to me in order for my ability to work on him.

"This is my exclusive ability, so you likely won’t be able to get it... we are finally here. There is still time for you to turn around and leave."

I told the Alpha, half-wanting him to come with me and half wanting him to leave me alone.

But the Alpha decided to stick with me for now and finally, the playfulness faded away from his eyes to show caution. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

"A dungeon is a dangerous place. We might have declared dungeon #36 as safe for now, but today’s incident told me that nowhere is safe. I would rather come with you as backup."

The Alpha told me and his amber eyes shined with a light that looked far too familiar.

From the way light shined on his face to the way his eyes looked at me, there was something achingly familiar about that face and expression.

’Erin... you...’

My mind associated the Alpha in front of me with Erin, even though they barely looked alike. There was just... something there that made me certain that there was some connection between Erin and Lynn.

"Ac... Kyle, are you alright? Do you no longer want to head inside? We can return now."

Lynn asked, placing his hand on my shoulder and it snapped me out of my daze. The filter that had fallen over me also faded and I sighed in relief.

"Let’s head inside now. I am afraid we do not have much time. I want to come back before they decide what to do with the final round of the championship."

I told Lynn as my body was swallowed by the dungeon gate. The Alpha followed me slowly and his footsteps felt more cautious.

This time when I entered the dungeon, the atmosphere looked completely different.

What was supposed to be a forest was run over by something and all trees in the vicinity looked to have been burned or trampled.

There was a lack of light in the dungeon and the night sky reflected back at me without any stars or sun.

I used my skill [Lighting Ball] to provide some light for now, but it immediately made me wish I had not done that because all I saw around me were half-chewed monster bodies that were twisted all around.

Their soulless eyes looked at me with an accusing light but there was no longer any life left in the husks.
