Chapter 63: Ch 63: Danger- Part 3

"To your left-"

I warned Lynn and he blocked the attack coming for him from his left. I also dodged the attacks coming for me as I defended Klein and Joshua’s unconscious body.

We were currently dealing with the monsters that had attacked us not too long ago.

They came out of nowhere and there were quite a few of them. I had lost count after a dozen or so but I could not see an end to these huge monsters.

The black mass in my pocket stirred, likely wanting to tell me something. But I had no time for it when I needed to run for my life.

"S-Save me-! It’s too close-!"

Klein cried as he saw one of the claws almost reach him. I cut it off using my knife and gave the alpha an annoyed look.

"Why did you even come here if you cannot handle monsters and fighting? Did you think we came here to play?"

I asked the hunter and he gulped, now terrified.

"I-I came here because this round was supposed to have humans as opponents, not monsters. My powers are much more apt to use against humanoid opponents and those who have intelligence. I-I am sorry-"

The alpha sounded terrified and I did not blame him. He likely had no training for this situation.

I barely recalled my first time in a dungeon. All I remembered from that time was the terror that engulfed me and the need to survive and head back home alive. Nothing else had mattered to me at that time.

’In that regard, I guess Klein is doing much better than me. He has not lost his mind yet at least...’

Another monster attacked me and I lost my thoughts. I gave my best to clear out waves after waves, but these monsters refused to give up.

"Tsk, there are just too many of them. Where are they all coming from? I have never seen monsters like these in this dungeon before."

Lynn complained and that made me pause.

A sudden terrifying thought came to my mind which I did not want to acknowledge—what if these monsters were not from this dungeon at all?

What if this place had gotten connected to another dungeon and that’s why these monsters started to crawl out of the dungeon gate like this?

But the only question was—how and why? What caused this to happen?

Finally, I had a part of my question answered as a humanoid shape walked toward us. The creature had a staff and seemed to be chanting something.

"Huh-! Is that creature...speaking? But what gibberish is it saying?"

Klein complained and I strained to hear what the creature was saying as well.

"Mahskf...lord had returned...to us...we shall...celebrate..."

The creature yelled out loud and I flinched at the sudden high-pitched note that he spoke. The other creatures let out a joyous laugh as well as they celebrated the coming back of their lord.

I had no idea what these creatures were saying, but I just knew that it was bad news.

"We need to do something. Otherwise, these monsters would run over the dungeon and find the way outside as well. We need to find where they are coming from."

Lynn came toward me after finishing the monsters on his side. But I watched in horror as the monsters we had just killed stood up once again and started to march away.

"Lord is calling us back...we shall...answer his call..."

The monsters started to retreat just as abruptly as they had arrived and I felt like I had to follow them.

"Lynn, take care of things around here. I will be back in a minute."

I told him as I followed after the monsters.

"Hey, wait a minute-"

Lynn tried to follow me but I was too fast for him. I followed the monsters and I felt like my body passed something like a barrier as I kept moving.

Finally, I reached the small gate that was open. It showed a small but cozy backyard with a mountainous backdrop that made me want to reach out and enter.

An alluring scent also reached my senses, and it felt very familiar. I knew that if not for the fact that this situation was so tense, I would have immediately recognized it.

Those pheromones made me feel safe and want to relax.

I did not even realize when I took a step forward and headed toward the dungeon gate, but when I came back to my senses, I noticed that I was in front of the dungeon gate with the monsters all around me.

But they were not attacking me. They were not even moving.

They were just looking at me with a fascinated look in their eyes.

"Go ahead. Our lord calls for you."

"He’s calling for you."

"He wants you."

"He needs you-"

"Needs you-"

"You-"

The monsters were getting louder and more overwhelming. As they chanted, the air was filled with more and more energy.

The dungeon gate suddenly went blank as a claw-like hand covered it entirely before it pushed toward me.

It almost looked like a monster’s claw but I did not panic.

Or rather, I could not panic as I watched the hand coming toward me with a fascinated expression on my face.

I felt my own hand head toward that claw and I touched it. It felt so familiar and the pheromones around me went wild.

Grrrr

The sound that the clawed man made sounded inhuman but soothing. I wanted to reach out even more when the pheromones became too much for me and I felt like my head was spinning.

No, not only my head, but everything around me was spinning.

"Ahhh. Our lord-! Return to our lord-! S-Stop-!"

The creatures tried to head toward the collapsing gate, but it was too late. They were not able to make it before the light faded and they were all left behind.

I also snapped out of my daze as I recalled what just happened.

"What the hell-! Was I under some kind of trance? Tsk, what just happened to me?"

I held my head as I tried to get rid of the headache I was about to have because of this. The monsters turned toward me with an angry expression.

"You made the dungeon collapse-"

"Our lord is out of reach-"

"You need to pay-"

The monsters attacked me and I felt the black mass in my pocket vibrate. Even before I did anything, the black mass somehow broke free from the bottle it was being held in and expanded to swallow the other monsters around me.

After it was done, it went back to that small shape and back in my pocket.

It all happened under a minute and I had no chance to do anything.

Finally, an alarm sounded around the dungeon, warning everyone that an emergency had been declared and the semi-finals were halted. I allowed the tension in my body to bleed out as I recalled what a crazy day I just had.

I went back to join Joshua, Lynn and Klein. But Lynn’s gaze never left me once I rejoined him. I had a feeling he wanted something to say to me.
