Chapter 60: Ch 60: The Alpha who chase- Part 2

Unlike the alpha who attacked Joshua, the one in front of me was calm and did not do anything immediately.

Instead, he looked at me with his dark eyes for a whole minute before he spoke up.

"Are you not going to say something to me? If you apologize to me now, then I will spare your life. Otherwise, I have enough power to make your life a living hell."

The alpha sounded confident... a little too confident. I suddenly wanted to hear why he was so confident.

"Hmm, and what makes you think you have power over me?"

I asked the alpha, and he chuckled.

"Don’t you think it’s weird how a team like yours and mine made it this far when there were more deserving teams that deserved to make it? It’s all because I used my power and connections to make it possible."

The hunter bragged, not realizing that he sounded stupid.

I did not interrupt him, and that caused the hunter to get encouraged and continue to speak even more.

"Connections are power, so I just offered most of those teams an offer they could not refuse — to be able to meet and talk with Ace once this is all over. Most teams were more than happy to take these terms. And those who were not... well, let’s say an accident happened that kept them from participating."

Well, I had gotten my answer as to why and how our team made it this far.

I had said that it was suspicious, but I was ready to take it as a coincidence. But to know that this was a conspiracy made my pride feel hurt. It also made me feel angry in a way I rarely felt.

"So, you hurt others just because you wanted some profit? What kind of hunter are you to not even uphold the most basic of hunter oaths?"

Not that I cared about those oaths either. But I at least cared enough to pretend to follow them.

But the alpha in front of me seemed not to care.

"Ha! Those old and foolish things? Why would I ever follow them when they are just shackles to bind me? If I have power, I want to use it all. But that is not what’s important here. What’s important is the decision you will make now."

The alpha told me and I had no intention of complying with him.

"Sorry, but I don’t make deals with kids. Now, head back or—"

Something flew toward me and I instinctively caught the blade. The slight tingling sensation in my fingers told me that the blade was poisoned.

[Status: Poisoned]

[Status: Immunity invoked]

The tingling sensation faded just as quickly as it came and I flexed my hand to see if any damage had been done.

There was none and I felt a lot better compared to before. The use of my powers had made my fatigue go away as well.

"Y-you—! How are you still standing? The poison I used is a special S-grade one—"

The alpha asked and I yawned to irritate him even more.

"Oh—! Was that a strong poison? It just tingled me a little but nothing more. Maybe you are much weaker than you think if you fall for poisons this weak."

I told the alpha and he was not able to control himself anymore.

"You bitch—! I gave you a chance—"

The alpha rushed toward me and I used his own momentum to turn him around and throw him down on his back. The alpha looked startled as he was suddenly countered like this.

"W-What happened—"

Before the alpha could say anything, I put my foot on his chest and pressed a little bit to drag him back to reality.

"If you are going to attack someone, then you should be ready to get attacked as well. And also, do you really think raw power is what it takes to make a hunter strong? You don’t even have the basics right."

I told the alpha I had pinned down.

Was I helping the alpha a little too much? Perhaps yes. But I could not bring myself to care about that in the slightest.

Even if the alpha were to learn how to fight properly, he was mentally weak and would not be able to do much.

"Hey, what are you— let me go... do you have any idea who I am?"

The alpha asked and I yawned as I held him down.

"I have no idea who you are and I have no need to know either. And anyway, aren’t you the one who attacked me first? It’s your own fault you are in this mess."

I told the alpha and he went quiet after that. He had realized that he was the one at fault as well by now. But he refused to say anything.

’What a brat! Even now he does not know what he did wrong. Should I teach him a lesson—’

Just before I was about to knock the rude alpha out, I heard human footsteps and someone stepped into the clearing.

I looked up, only to see Lynn walking toward me and the alpha I had knocked down. The rude alpha noticed Lynn as well and smiled a genuine smile.

"Tsk, Brother Lynn is here. You can deal with me, but what are you going to do with Brother Lynn? He and I are close—"

I pushed a little harder on the chest and the alpha stopped speaking.

At the same time, Lynn saw us and he raised his eyebrow in question.

"So, should I ask what is going on here? Or should I pretend I did not see this all?"

He asked me and I finally gave him a simple look. But the alpha beneath me decided to put on a show.

"B-Brother Lynn, help me out—! This omega has gone crazy—! Look at what he’s doing to me right now. You need to help me get my dignity back and—"

I cut the alpha off once more.

Lynn suppressed a laugh as he watched the display and then he turned toward me with semi-serious eyes.

"Looks like you are having a really tough time with all this. Do you want me to help you out?"

Lynn asked and the alpha beneath me tensed before he turned to look at Lynn.

"B-Brother, help me. Please, help me here—"

"Shh, I am not talking to you. I was asking our dear omega friend. After all, I am well aware of your reputation and what could have caused this situation. Do you really think you are in a position to speak?"

The alpha asked and the person beneath my feet went quiet.

Now that he knew that not even Lynn was on his side, he did not know what to do. He likely had connections but not strong enough to go against Lynn.

I remained vigilant since I did not know what Lynn wanted from me. I just knew that he was not purely here to help me out.

"So, why are you here—"

"Ahhhhh—"

I asked Lynn the same second I heard Joshua’s loud scream. My priorities changed the second that happened and I knocked out the scummy alpha and handed him to Lynn before taking off in the direction that scream came from.
