The Top Omega Hunter Wants a Quiet Life [BL]-Chapter 40: Ch : Ace is back - Part 2
"Of course, chairman. I will make sure not to disappoint you."
Rose assured before she took her leave. Just as she was leaving, someone dragged her arm and tugged her back.
"I hope you know what you’re doing, Rose, because it sounds stupid to me. The only reason you think you can recreate Ace is because you have never seen him in action. That person is a monster and nothing you do can recreate it. You won’t be able to fool the public and other hunters for long."
Chief of staff Camren told her with a clear face, but it only served to make Rose angrier.
"Tsk, what does an old fossil like you know? Don’t worry about me and worry about yourself. Once I am successful, I will ask for your place in the council. That day isn’t too far away."
Rose assured before she left quickly.
All the way, she gritted her teeth as Camren’s words kept repeating in her mind.
"That stupid alpha...ugh, he thinks he’s a big shot just because he’s an alpha? So what if I and my family are all beta? I will show him—"
She went back home, her consciousness brewing in anger, and then she slammed her door shut behind her.
"Mom, you are back. How did the meeting go?"
Her brother, Eddy, asked her and Rose immediately walked over to him and then placed her arms around his shoulder.
"Eddy, mommy needs your illusion powers. You will do anything for mommy, right?"
Rose asked and Eddy, her 31-year-old brother, nodded back at her. The older beta might have grown old, but he was still too reliant on his mother.
People had told Rose that she was too controlling toward her brother, and if she did not let him be independent, he would never be able to live his life or find a job.
But Rose had not cared. She had repeatedly told people that there was nothing wrong with her brother being dependent on her.
"R-Rose, calm down. What happened—"
Eddy asked, not liking the look of madness in Rose’s eyes. He had never seen her like this before.
"Don’t worry about it, Eddy. I just need you to use your illusion powers. It’s time we show the world that betas are just as good, if not better, than alphas and omegas."
She told her brother, and Eddy had a bad feeling about it. But since he had never been able to say no to his sister, he decided to go along with her this time as well. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

"Kyle, serve table 5 please."
I followed Emma’s orders and quickly refilled the glass meant for table 5 before I took their food to them.
The couple at table 5 thanked me and went back to chatting.
Finally, after about a whole week, things had started to become normal and the talk about Ace had died down. I could finally walk around the café without wanting to turn my head around every 10 minutes because someone called out my name.
I walked around the café after I was done serving my tables, only to see Theo serving a group of giggling girls in a corner.
The girls were mostly omegas, and I could even smell their strong pheromones tainting the air. They were trying to flirt with Theo, but Theo did not even pay attention to them.
I decided to walk over to the table and help Theo out before he offended one of these girls and made them cry. I could already see one of the girls trying extra hard to grab his attention with tears in her eyes.
"Excuse me, but you are being called in the kitchen, Theo. I will take over this table from you."
I told the alpha, who nodded like a puppy and followed my orders.
The group of omega girls suddenly quietened down and shot me annoyed glances.
"Tsk, why did this ugly omega waiter have to come and ruin my chances with that hunk of an alpha? Tsk, I hope he gets sick or something."
One of the girls complained but I pretended not to notice.
Instead, I turned toward the girls with an unnerving wide smile which made her shudder.
"Now, would you like to order something? Or should I escort you all out because you are violating our rule of not letting your pheromones out in the café? I am sure a police charge won’t look good on your records."
I told the girl without any heat behind my words. But those words alone were enough to make them all go pale.
"T-There is no need to get aggressive. We are going to order now anyway. Sheesh...what an annoyance."
I nodded toward the girls and quickly brought them their orders. I also stuck around them for a little while so they left quickly.
"So you decided to be Theo’s knight in shining armor, huh? Maybe you should tone it down. Theo needs to learn how to deal with these problems himself as well."
Emma told me and I nodded.
"He does. But I would rather not have him get harassed for no reason. That being said... I should get back to work."
I told Emma and she nodded. She turned on the T.V. to provide the people with some entertainment, but the news that came on made my heart almost stop.
[-For our next segment, we have an exclusive interview with Rose from the Hunter’s Association and Ace. This will be Ace’s first appearance in public and we are just as excited as you are for it.-]
I immediately looked at the screen where the news reporter stood in front of the Hunter’s Association building.
My brain froze as I looked at the familiar yet unfamiliar building in front of me. Memories of the past flashed through my mind as I tried to grasp them. But the past was the past and they slipped through my fingers.
"W-What is going on?"
I asked, more to myself than to anyone else. But Emma, who was walking around, decided to answer me.
"Ah, this? Apparently, Ace decided to return to the Hunter’s Association yesterday. He was late because he was recovering. Today, he will make his first appearance to address the people. Truthfully, I think the Hunter’s Association is trying to fool us all. But we’ll see."
Emma’s words brought me back and I suddenly realized that the Hunter’s Association was back to its usual tricks.
Thinking more carefully about it, I could make out a few ways they could have gone about it. But I was mostly sure they would use a body double with similar powers to me or something.
"Emma, I am going to take my break now. I want to see Ace as well."
I told her and Emma paused before she nodded.
Unlike the customers, Emma did not seem to be as interested in Ace, but for me, this was personal. I wanted to see what the association was up to with my own eyes.
[-Here he comes. Everyone, welcome Ace back to the world of hunters. With him around, we won’t have to fear any dungeon ever -]
The announcer declared and I watched as a figure covered in black appeared in front of the people.
