The Top Omega Hunter Wants a Quiet Life [BL]-Chapter 127: Ch : Threat to the PC Cafe- Part 1
The loss of Theo in my bed made me a little disappointed and a part of me expected him to appear from behind the door and apologize for falling asleep in my bed or something.
But I could not sense his presence in my room which made me feel awkward.
The door got pushed open and my heart soared as I waited for Theo’s familiar face to greet me once more.
But it was only Kuro who entered the room and gave me a look of disappointment.
"Hey human, are you alright? It’s time for you to wake up. I came to you last night as well to talk but you seemed busy so I left."
Kuro told me and I felt my face go warm.
The cat demon was not usually someone who cared about people’s privacy. The fact that he decided to leave me and Theo alone was a miracle.
"Now that I think about it, you treat Theo with much more respect compared to everyone else. Is there a specific reason behind this?"
I asked Kuro and he looked taken aback, almost as if he had never expected me to ask this question.
At first, he struggled to speak up, not knowing what he could even say.
"That is... none of your business actually. I can treat any human however I want. It’s just, the human you were with last night, he just smells a little special... not that I am afraid or anything. I just... want to keep my distance, that’s all."
Kuro told me and his every word told me that he wanted to drop this topic because he felt uncomfortable talking about it.
I just chuckled as I saw Kuro struggling to speak up and Kuro looked startled to see my expression.
"Y-You annoying human-! Ugh, I am so done with you. I am heading back out. There is no need for me to listen to you trying to make fun of me."
Kuro looked offended and he quickly retreated out of my room. I just looked at him with fond eyes as I saw the demon leave.
I was not keeping as deep an eye on Kuro as I should. But somehow, I had a feeling that he won’t end up causing me any trouble.
"Hmm, it’s time for me to head out and help with the cafe. I better make sure I help extra hard today to make up for my loss during the association fire incident."
Speaking of that incident, Councilwoman Rose had been caught after I told Lynn a part of what happened and what I had found out.
Rose did not protest much when she was taken into custody. It seemed as if she had lost her very will to live as she followed the police.
I had wanted to talk with her, but the chairman of the association as well as the police forces had taken her into isolation and decided to interrogate her until she sang their tune.
At such a rate, there was no point in me going after her at all.
"Well, the association will remain down for the next few days anyway. I better talk to Lynn and the others in order to make the trip to Hell’s Fire."
I told myself before leaving Lynn a message on his phone.
I knew that the hunter’s network on my system would be much faster and simpler to use and I needed to make a habit of using it more often.
But I was an old soul that had been raised using old technology. So I often gravitated back toward my phone, even if there were better alternatives.
"Hmm, our budget this month is so wonky. I also need to head back to the main job... oh Kyle, you are up as well? Should I put some breakfast on the table for you?"
Emma asked as she left the small notebook she held in her hand down and moved toward the kitchen.
She had sounded worried when I entered the room and I felt compelled to help her out.
"Emma, are you alright? Is there anything I can help you with? You look... worried."
I asked her and Emma looked taken aback as she looked at my face. Her expression broke out into a red flush as soon as I finished speaking and she turned her face away before she coughed and got herself under control.
"There is no need for you to be worried about me, Kyle. I am completely fine. You just need to focus on eating and having fun. Are you ready for another day of serving customers?"
Emma asked with a fake smile on her face. I had gotten quite good at spotting those.
Her smile told me that Emma was not in any mood to be talking to me regarding anything and she wanted me to drop this topic.
As per her wishes, I should have dropped this topic and been done with it, but I did not want to do that today.
So I pretended I did not catch the meaning of Emma’s words and made her sit down.
Emma looked more and more worried by the second and I grabbed her notebook to take a look at her calculations.
"You look extremely worried right now. Are these calculations worrying you? Do you want my help with them?"
I asked the female beta, knowing fully well that this was not what she was referring to when she told me that she was worried.
Emma took in a sharp breath and her eyes locked on the paper in my hand. She wondered what she should do before she decided that letting me have the paper was better than her having to explain anything.
"Ah, it’s fine. I told you that I was done anyway. You can have that paper for the time being...."
"Emma, are you done thinking what we need to do? The pressure for us to sell our shares is immense but there is no way we can afford to do that. So, what should we do..."
Ben asked, trailing off as soon as he saw me sitting in front of Emma.
