Chapter 157: The Attendants of the Queen Are—Tesa, Tera, And... Someone Else Called ****?

Clay let herself be guided back to her seat, still bowing her head, cheeks flaming crimson.

She sank down slowly, hands now gripping the edge of the table, fingers digging into the soft leaf surface.

GULP!

S... Scary!

Maybe she realized someone was searching her, I did too when Medline used it on me, but Clay had—without even looking at me—flown on the table and nearly stabbed me, while her other hand still fed herself those donuts.

Is she an assassin?!

She hadn’t turned her head, or shifted her gaze from her plate.

One second eating, next second fork in hand, arm extended full length, tip steady at my throat.

To kill me?!

The other hand never stopped—pinching another piece of donut, bringing it to her lips, chewing calmly even as the fork hovered.

Then it was instinctive, I suppose.

Okay, I take that back; Clay is NOT weak! She’s terrifying.

The realization settled cold and clear. Cute voice, small frame, blushing apologies—none of it matched the speed and the precision, the zero hesitation of that strike.

If it was an enemy, they’d be bleeding and choking out by now. And I wonder the expression she would give them.

How terrifying.

{Correct, Master. The individual Clay is surpassed soundly by only three individuals in Fairylynch: the queen and her three attendants.}

[Right? I’m beginning to think so too-- Huh? Three? Including Isabelle, you mean?]

I kept my face neutral, took another slow bite of candy. The sweetness burst on my tongue but barely registered.

{Negative: Queen Titania has three attendants, and all were present when Master first arrived here.}

[What are you talking about, Sys? Are you having server issues?]

{Note: master’s core serves as my server}

[Stop that, it sounds gross. And the only three major folks I saw when I came here were those two emotionless fairies... and Isabelle.]

The numbers didn’t add up.

I remembered my arrival clearly; Titania floating center, pink glow, violet eyes wide.

The other two striking girls flanking her, silver hair, emotionless faces, short green skirts, pale tops, wings beating slow.

I set the candy down carefully, wiped my fingers on the leaf edge.

I decided to ask my pals here, just to be sure.

Keeping my voice casual, fork resting on my plate, I looked directly at Isabelle and asked her;

"Three attendants?" Isabelle’s eyes widened as she asked me, "Did you not see only Tesa and Tera when you came?"

She paused mid-sip from her tea cup—small, delicate porcelain with tiny vine patterns etched around the rim.

Her fingers tightened slightly around the handle, knuckles paling for a second.

Her green eyes blinked once, twice. She set the cup down with a soft clink, both hands flat on the table now, fingers spreading.

Right?! There were only two of them. I wonder what Sys is talking abou—

"Drop it, Isabelle..." Roselyn narrowed her golden eyes and smiled in a scheming way, "Do you really think HE won’t notice it? He’s Benjamin Mark after all."

Roselyn leaned back in her seat, one elbow propped on the table, chin resting in her palm. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

Her golden eyes narrowed to slits, but the corners crinkled with amusement.

The smile pulled slow and sharp across her face—white teeth flashing again, one canine catching the light.

She tilted her head slightly, braid sliding over her shoulder.

Hm...? What did she mean by that? I feel left out of the conversation suddenly.

"It’s true!" Claire added, her fists clenched near her chest—so cute!! She looks like a small baby.

Her voice rose quick and earnest. She sat up straighter, both fists pressing tight against her sternum, knuckles almost touching her chin.

Her violet bob bounced once with the motion. Eyes large, shining, cheeks flushed pink. She leaned forward a fraction, shoulders hunching inward like she was hugging herself.

"And he didn’t even die after p... playing with us for hours... Not to mention how he defeated Roselyn."

"H-Hey! That’s ancient history now!" Roselyn blushed, shaking Claire who was sitting near her.

Roselyn’s cheeks darkened instantly—rose spreading fast across her dark skin.

She reached sideways, fingers closing around Claire’s upper arm, shaking her gently but firmly. Claire squeaked once, small hands flying up to cover Roselyn’s wrist, trying to pry loose without much strength.

Huh?

It sounds like these guys, including the ones at Shishi-no-su, feel like I will die if they sleep with me, but they do so anyway.

Nah, maybe it’s my imagination.

Clay nodded furiously at her sister’s claim, then Isabelle after sipping from a cute tea cup, sighed.

Clay’s head bobbed fast—once, twice, three times—violet strands whipping across her face. She kept nodding even after Claire stopped speaking, small fists still clenched near her chest, knuckles white.

Isabelle lifted her tea cup again—slow and deliberate—then took a small sip, lips pursing slightly around the rim.

She set it down with a faint clink, and made a sigh, shoulders dropping.

"It normally is being kept a secret, from even our civilian fairies..." She whispered, then glanced at me with her crystal green eyes, "And you picked it up from seeing her just once or twice? Truly, you are remarkable, Benjamin."

She leaned forward slightly, elbows on the table now, fingers interlacing under her chin.

Her green eyes locked on mine—clear, steady, a faint sparkle in them. Her voice dropped lower on the last sentence, almost admiring.

One thumb brushed the knuckle of her other hand in a slow circle.

Uhm. I’ll look like a fool if I told them I had no idea what they were talking about, so let’s play along.

"Hehe. Don’t underestimate me, you guys." I forced a small laugh, rubbed the back of my neck with one hand. "I’ve been called ’extraordinary’ by a lot of powerful people so far. Including another god-touched."

I leaned back a little, crossed my arms loose over my chest, and tried to look confident.

...But okay, can they tell me who this 3rd person is already?

"God-touched..." Roselyn tilted her head in thought, one finger tapping slowly against her lower lip.

Her golden eyes narrowed slightly, gaze drifting upward toward the glowing vines overhead as if searching her memory.

The tapping stopped; her hand dropped to rest flat on the leaf-table, fingers spreading. "Are you referring to... Kurosawa Ren?"

She looked back at me then, head still tilted, braid sliding over one shoulder.

The corner of her mouth quirked up—just a little—not quite a smile, more like she was testing the name on her tongue.

"Ah, you knew him?" I glanced at her, fork paused halfway to my mouth. I set it down carefully so it wouldn’t clatter. "He’s my pal in Shishi-no-su, and we’re from the same world. He’s super strong you know."

I leaned forward a bit on my elbows, forearms resting on the table edge.
