Chapter 71: Principal

The other students didn’t dare approach, let alone ask questions.

However, Elsa and Mary walked toward them.

The former wore a smile, while the latter seemed lost in her own thoughts.

"Margaret, so... is there some kind of celebration for your relationship with Leonardo? How about treating us to the most luxurious restaurant?" Elsa said.

"Be quiet," Margaret replied coldly, causing Elsa to freeze in shock.

"Uh..." She cleared her throat awkwardly and was nudged by Mary as a signal to stop talking.

Meanwhile, Leonardo headed to his classroom.

He planned to attend class just to pass the time.

Of course, as he walked, Margaret followed beside him.

Class hadn’t started yet, but a few students were already inside.

What caught Leonardo’s attention was Jack.

He had gathered several strong male students, though most of them came from ordinary backgrounds.

Not all of them were from this class, but they had come for him, listening as he spoke.

They were slightly surprised to see Leonardo and Margaret arrive.

Even Jack stopped talking.

Leonardo’s seat was next to Jack’s, but it was currently occupied by another student.

Before Leonardo could do anything, Margaret stepped forward.

"Thompson, I’ll sit here. You move to my seat," Margaret said to Jack.

She spoke as if it were an unquestionable command.

Even though Jack seemed more confident than before, he could only nod without hesitation in front of Margaret.

"Guys, how about we talk in the cafeteria instead," he said to the students he had gathered.

They didn’t dare oppose Margaret and simply nodded.

"We’ll go first," one of them said.

As they left, Jack moved his books to Margaret’s desk.

He glanced at Leonardo, who simply looked back calmly.

A complicated expression flickered in his eyes.

Leonardo had no interest in commenting.

He sat down in his seat, and Margaret took the seat beside him.

"It seems your neighbor has achieved something too," she said.

She knew Leonardo’s background well, so she was naturally aware of his connection with Jack.

"Yeah... he’s quite lucky," Leonardo replied, not elaborating further.

There was no need to reveal anything about Jack and Laura.

Emma arrived shortly after Jack left, clearly unsure how to react when she saw Leonardo sitting with Margaret.

Suddenly, Margaret waved at her, signaling her to come over.

Emma approached.

"Go to the cafeteria and buy two iced milk coffees," Margaret ordered.

Emma nodded just as quickly as Jack had and immediately left.

"Lately, Emma has been improving quite well. Even though she didn’t awaken any special talent, she’s smart and always knows how to take advantage of opportunities," Margaret said.

"What do you think if I invest more in her?"

"Why are you asking me?" Leonardo wasn’t sure how to respond.

"After all, she’s your childhood friend. I’m sure you understand her well."

"She’s pragmatic. She might betray you for greater benefits."

Leonardo wasn’t speaking carelessly. He had noticed this trait in Emma long ago, and it was proven when she helped Margaret capture him.

"Do you think she’s brave enough to betray me?" Margaret replied.

"Who knows... You should stop believing no one dares to challenge you, or you might end up humiliated and collapsing again."

"Don’t mock me with that. I’m quite offended, you know." Margaret flicked her hair as she spoke.

Their interaction left the other students stunned.

They wondered if she had ever interacted with a man like this before.

It seemed like she never had.

Almost every man who interacted with her was treated like a dog—including Thomas Harper, despite his impressive background.

Emma returned shortly after, carrying two cups of coffee and placing them gently in front of Leonardo and Margaret.

Her gaze toward Leonardo was cautious, but it clearly hid many emotions.

Perhaps she was actually upset and couldn’t accept this situation.

She had once liked Leonardo enough to confess her feelings to him.

She had even invited him to her house whenever it was empty.

But Leonardo never did anything with her—he only treated her as an ordinary friend.

That clear and repeated rejection had deeply hurt her.

After all, she had thrown away her pride for him, even willing to become his plaything because she truly wanted him.

Unfortunately, he wasn’t even interested in that.

"Miss, is there anything else?" Emma asked Margaret after placing the coffee down.

"No... By the way, tonight, come with us to an event," Margaret said, waving her hand casually.

Emma was slightly surprised—and also pleased.

It meant Margaret trusted her more.

Even though she was unhappy about Leonardo’s presence, Margaret was still a powerful figure who brought her many benefits.

She nodded before returning to her seat.

Soon after, the teacher arrived—a young, neat, and handsome man.

He was, of course, the math teacher who had once dated Mary.

His gaze landed on Margaret, then on Leonardo sitting beside her.

"Anderson, the principal wants to see you later. Go after class," he said.

Leonardo couldn’t help but feel surprised.

Why was the principal calling him?

Margaret frowned slightly—perhaps she didn’t understand either, or maybe she knew something.

Leonardo simply nodded for now.

The principal was no ordinary person. He was a powerful Awakener, respected by everyone in the city.

No one could deny his contributions to producing many Awakeners from this school.

As the lesson began, Leonardo temporarily put the matter out of his mind.

(Boss, three new orchids have grown, but the older ones haven’t bloomed yet. It seems like many more will grow if you give them more Mana Liquid.) Ellie suddenly sent a message.

More Phantom Veil Orchids—of course, that was a good thing.

But obtaining Mana Liquid was difficult.

Last time, he had paid an Element Bomb Orb just to get 20 liters.

Leonardo didn’t respond to Ellie and remained silent until the math teacher finished the lesson.

"Honey, if I’m not mistaken, the principal probably wants to keep you away from me," Margaret said, her expression serious yet carrying a faint smile.

Leonardo was surprised by that information—but even more surprised by the word she used to address him.

Honey?

That single word echoed in his mind.

He had never imagined that a woman like Margaret would call a man that... not even her own husband.
