The Soft-Hearted Wife of Mr. Big Shot-Chapter 27: Nothing Is Absolute
Holly returned to her room after taking a shower but didn’t go to sleep.
Early bedtime?
Impossible, she’s used to staying up late, only pretending to be a well-behaved girl who sleeps on schedule in front of Leo.
She took out a tablet from the drawer, a modified computer that she customized herself.
Her fingers tapped on the keyboard, and the code flashed across the screen, bewildering anyone unable to keep up.
She held more knowledge than anyone imagined, which allowed Leo to avoid danger time after time.
After typing the last piece of code, she returned to her desktop, and Holly leaned back in her chair, yawning.
Coding seemed simple and swift, but it’s genuinely exhausting.
Holly quickly opened a website again and edited a message to send out.
[Help me investigate Sean Grant.]
The message was read quickly and disappeared; a response came with an OK gesture, followed by a file sent in about two minutes.
Holly saved the file and logged out of the website.
She still didn’t know Sean’s background; she needed to thoroughly understand this person.
The air conditioner was on in the room, a bit cold, so she threw on a light jacket, put her shoes on, and headed out.
Leo and Noah were chatting as usual, the TV was off, and Mrs. Hayes had already gone to bed at this hour.
It had been two hours since Holly went upstairs.
Holly rubbed her eyes, looking sleepy and groggy; she wobbled downstairs.
"What’s up, young lady?"
Leo looked at Holly coming down and asked.
She appeared as if she had just woken up, sleepy-eyed.
"Brother, I want some water."
Holly’s voice was low as she slowly spoke.
Leo poured Holly a glass of water, and she quickly finished it.
Noah, seeing his bro being so attentive to the young girl, wore a playful smile on his lips.
His brother seemed destined to fall sometime.
"Brother, I can’t sleep."
Holly plopped onto the sofa, pouting, looking restless, overall gloomy.
"Had a nightmare?"
Leo gently rubbed Holly’s head, his voice soft and tender.
"Mm, yes."
Holly’s voice sounded a bit aggrieved.
"Holly’s scared."
The young girl shrank into herself, lightly biting her lip, looking particularly frightened.
"What did you dream about? Share with your brother, I’m here."
Leo’s voice was genuinely so gentle, excessively soft.
"Tsk tsk tsk."
Noah watched, quietly adjusted himself to leave more space for Holly and Leo.
"I saw so much blood, I have a very close sister, she wants to kill me..."
Holly spoke while sniffing, her body slightly trembling.
"But in the dream, I trust her deeply, never suspected she wanted to harm me, yet she did, sob sob sob..."
"Brother, I’m so sad, even though it was just a dream, I’m so sad, sob sob sob."
Holly sobbed, her voice mournful, appearing extremely upset.
"It’s okay, just a dream, Holly don’t be scared."
Leo gently patted Holly’s back, comforting her.
"Brother, do you think if Holly truly has a very close sister, she wouldn’t act like in the dream?"
Holly’s eyes were red as she earnestly asked Leo.
Leo suddenly felt worried, could Holly’s dreams be related to her memory loss?
Their girl was so innocent, so lovable, shouldn’t have experienced such an ordeal, right?
Leo: "She won’t."
"Brother, do you have any siblings, like a very close one?"
Holly blinked, looking half-believing.
"I have a younger brother."
Leo answered truthfully.
"And brother’s younger brother definitely wouldn’t harm you, right?"
Holly blinked innocently and slowly asked.
"Yes, he wouldn’t."
Leo affirmed assuredly.
Holly poured herself another glass of water, finishing it in one go, "Brother, I’m going back to sleep, I’m so sleepy."
She yawned, got up, ready to head upstairs.
Leo watched Holly go upstairs, only then withdrawing his gaze.
Leo didn’t dwell too much, but Noah was different.
He heard every word Holly said, gently furrowing his brow, deep in thought.
"What are you pondering?"
Leo directly slapped Noah’s forehead.
"Did you coax the little sister to sleep?"
Noah raised an eyebrow, teasing, a constant smile on his face.
"Shut up, speak nicely."
Leo frowned, his tone cooling.
"Alright, alright, future girlfriend, is that okay?"
Noah stretched lazily as he spoke.
"Don’t talk nonsense, she only sees me as a brother."
Leo threw a punch at Noah and said.
"So you don’t see her as a sister?"
Noah dodged slightly, a wicked grin on his face.
Leo: "..."
What kind of logic, their relationship was simply that of siblings, nothing more.
"Are you sure Sean won’t harm you?"
Noah changed the topic, speaking seriously.
He’s very familiar with Leo, not so much with Sean, having little understanding of him.
"I’m sure."
Leo confidently replied.
He and Sean grew up together, their bond as strong as Noah’s and Nathaniel’s, people worthy of trust.
Such close ties, he surely trusted them.
"There’s never absolute certainty, the young girl lost her memory, what she dreams might be a pre-amnesia experience." 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
Noah offered a reminder.
At times, seemingly solid relationships can crumble in the face of interests.
Observing from the sidelines, Noah grasped a point from Holly’s words. Throughout history, many siblings turn against each other over interests.
Sean might not be the exception, being cautious is wise.
Leo said nothing.
"Leo, I’m not saying Sean would do this, but being cautious is always good."
Noah suggested.
Without absolute certainty, it’s best to be prepared for the favorable and the unfavorable.
"Mm, okay."
Leo nodded, Noah made valid points.
