The Royal Mark-Chapter 97: Badly Injured
Before the evening came Valeria, Elsa, and all the healers were able to dispel all the curses and remove the magical worms from everyone’s arms. Even though Elsa was just sitting inside the tent the whole day, using magic was truly tiring. Tiring is even an understatement she was exhausted.
She looked at her grandmother and wondered how can she still hold a smile on her face when she was younger but couldn’t even sit upright anymore. Valeria saw Elsa staring at her and chuckled at how her granddaughter looked. It was as if Elsa just run thousands of kilometers.
She stood up and patted Elsa’s shoulder, "You’ll get used to it in time. The more you practice the larger your mana pool will be. You will be able to use more spells and will require less rest."
"I think going to the gym is way better," Elsa blurted.
"Gym?" Valera asked in confusion.
Elsa chuckled remembering that there was no gym in Vectus when they suddenly both heard her stomach growling, making her laugh more and Valeria chuckled with her.
"Tired and hungry, not a good combination. From my experience, grumpy will be next. Stay here dear and I will check the food if it is ready." Elsa nodded at her grandmother and looked around.
But everyone was already resting inside the tent and there was no one to talk to, to kill the time. She went out of the tent and her gaze fell on the group of people near the shore. She squinted her eyes for it was dark already and it looked like there was some commotion over there.
She walked to the nearest soldier that she could find and asked, "What’s happening there?"
The soldier bowed first before replying to her, "A new ship arrived a while ago and someone wants to go back to the ship where Prince Christopher was boarded. They said that the prince was badly injured and should be taken to the camp instead of letting him fight in the border–"
Elsa widened her eyes and didn’t really hear the rest of what the soldier said. Her hearing and understanding stopped at the soldier’s word ’badly injured’ so she interrupted the soldier, "Badly injured? Did you say that the Prince of Arcanis, Prince Christopher was badly injured?"
"Yes, Your Highness but–" Before the soldier could complete his explanation, Elsa stormed off towards the shore to get the full details of what happened to Chris.
She was in a hurry, almost running when Drake suddenly jumped in front of her, "Hey, what are you doing outside the tent? It’s cold in here." Drake then wrapped a scarf around her neck and added, "There you go, you are all set."
"Drake! What happened to Chris? Is he ok? Why are they not bringing him here?" Elsa asked one after the other.
"Woah, what’s with the sudden question? Of course, he is ok, he’s a true alpha–"
"No, you don’t understand. The people from the ship that just arrived said they saw Chris was hurt, no, not just hurt. He was badly injured!" Elsa said in a panicky voice. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"Hmm, I doubt that. If that is true then he would be here by now. I am sure he wouldn’t want to die before taking over the throne, he is doing all this to take back his kingdom so he would surely take care of himself. Plus, a werewolf would want to mark their mate first before dying don’t you think?"
"I don’t know Drake, Chris is crazy you know? He was badly injured when I first saw him so what those people are saying is really possible." Drake’s words didn’t really ease her worry for she knew how determined Chris is whenever he wants something.
"How about we eat dinner first then later let’s ask what happened?" Drake suggested.
"I will ask now. I can’t eat without peace of mind." Drake shook his head and followed his niece who immediately walked towards the group of people near the shore.
The soldiers who were talking to the group of werewolves saw them and bowed at them causing the rest to turn their back and do the same.
"Your Highness," greeted one of the soldiers.
"What is happening here?" Drake asked.
"This woman wanted to board the next ship that would switch shifts with the one at the border," the soldier pointed with an open palm to the lady on the side.
Drake and Elsa turned their gaze and saw a black-haired woman. Her beauty is striking and she’s dressed like someone with high status. She greeted them with a slight bow of her head and fixed her gaze at Elsa with narrowed eyes before relaxing her facial expression once again.
Another lady who stood behind her moved forward and Elsa quickly recognized her, "Your Highnesses, allow me to introduce Lady Alexandra Haraldsen of Iron Claw Pack. It was the former pack of our late queen, Prince Christopher’s mother–"
Before Laura could finish, Lady Alexandra cut her off.
"Chris is hurt! You have to help him. Witches and demons were chasing us earlier and the human ship did not bother to cross the border to help us, but Chris and his men sailed towards us and he was hit on the chest by dark magic and he didn’t look good. I heard you have two divine mages in the camp, please send them there to help him, please I beg you," the lady held both hands of Drake and pleaded.
Drake smiled awkwardly for he did not receive any report like that and if something like that really happened, their soldiers were strictly ordered to send a messenger at once.
Lady Alexandra saw the hesitation on Drake’s face so she moved closer to his face with puppy eyes and tried her best to look cute and irresistible so that Drake would pity her.
Drake was about to answer when they heard an authoritative voice behind them.
"There is no need to do that, my lady."
