The Royal Mark-Chapter 96: The Prince’s Mate

Elsa and Valeria were overwhelmed by the number of people that were inside the tent and the healer was not exaggerating not even a bit. There were indeed a lot of children and old people afflicted with dark magic and all of them had it on their arms.

"How did this happen?" Elsa asked the mother of the child they first checked.

"The witches board our ship after the rebel werewolves ambushed us. There were also some demons with them and they helped the witches to affix the magical worms into the palms of our children and elders. They said that if we don’t go back to Arcanis and obey the king, our children and parents will die once the worms reach their hearts.

But if we go back, the worms will just stay in their arms and will not move. We were all about to transfer to their ship but Prince Christopher arrived and wiped out the enemies. He had difficulty in defeating the witches and demons at first but he did it.

He said that we don’t have to be afraid because someone from Zemaria can heal our family. He said that his mate will be able to remove the curse." The mother of the child said.

Elsa looked at her grandmother seeking an answer. "Divine magic is the only thing that can dispel any curse without asking the caster to remove it," Valeria explains.

Elsa dropped her jaw for it was a very big problem and responsibility at the same time. If she had not gone to Vectus, her grandmother would be the only one who has the capability to save these people. Now she understands why Chris was hellbent on finding Hera before and why she was the chosen bride of Arcanis instead of Milda. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

She suddenly felt the weight of her power on her shoulders. It was not only to heal anyone that she liked but the people who would ally with them and go against the witches and demons would be her responsibility if ever something like this happens again.

Elsa closed her eyes and deeply sighed, "This is infuriating. That uncle of Chris and the witch queen are pure evil. How can they do something like this to non-fighters and innocent people?!" Her voice thundered in the tent.

She stood up with full determination, "Those who have the worms in them please form two lines," Elsa said and then turned to Valeria. "Teach me how to remove it, Grandma."

"We will not completely remove it. We will only dispel the curse on the worms and then it will be the job of the healers to completely remove it. We will do it this way because there are only two of us and there are a lot of them. It will drain our mana if we will also remove the worms inside them," Valeria explained.

"Understood, now please show me," Elsa then took a chair and sat in front of Valeria.

The mistress asked an elderly to extend his hand to her. She hovered over her hand on the part of the arm that was inhabited by the worm. It was the part that had dark pigmentation and the veins around it were turning black and purple.

"Maleh diksiyonem et tenebras diskute," Valeria uttered while Elsa was watching closely.

She saw the purple and black veins of the old man slowly fading and the bruise-like spot on his arm returned to its normal color. Valeria called the next person and let Elsa try it. It was not that smooth at first. Elsa had to try several times before she was able to dispel one.

One dispel already took a lot of her energy, but she told herself that she could not afford to get tired. Chris put his life at risk to save his people and she will make sure that his effort will not go to waste. She practiced on the old ones while Valeria took the children under her wing.

Soon, Elsa was able to get the hang of it and only needed to use a little bit of mana to dispel the curse.

"Are you the prince’s mate?" One of the old men asked. Elsa smiled at him and nodded shyly. "I was at the front when he was fighting the witches. I saw him get hit with black magic on his chest I believe or somewhere near his stomach.

I have seen what that spell can do to our kind and it is not good news. I did ask him if he was alright after and he said that it was nothing to him because he is a true alpha. I was very worried at first but seeing his smile after learning that everyone was safe, wiped off my worry.

Our future king is surely strong and caring. I know that you don’t feel the pull that he is feeling towards you. I found my mate too so I know how strong can it be. And for him to not mark you yet up to this point means he respects you dearly. Please, Your Highness, my only request for you once you marry him is to take very good care of him and I will offer you my loyalty and life as long as I live."

Elsa was speechless and teary-eyed at the same time as she listened to the old man speak. But she blinked that tear away and nodded, "I will surely take care of him. I may not feel the mate pull but I also do respect him." Elsa leaned forward and whispered to the old man, "I will tell you a secret. This is just between you and me, don’t tell Chris but I like him too," she said. She grinned and winked at the old man causing them both to laugh.

However, Elsa was just putting up a show in front of everyone. What the old man said made her worry about Chris. ’Is he really okay?’ she thought.
