Chapter 84: A Year Ago - Chris’ Story (3)

Long ago, a war between the Angels and the Demons broke out and it was known to the inhabitants of Vectus Mundus as "The Siege of Heaven". The demons manipulated and brainwashed the humans to join them in the battle against Heaven and the Angels, driven by an insatiable thirst for supremacy and dominion over all.

Achieving notable triumph, the demons effectively garnered human followers for their purpose. This resulted in complete chaos, turning the old world upside down, and shaking the very roots and core of the humans as God’s creation.

In response, Heaven’s wrath befell these insurgent humans, turning them into vampires and werewolves, a permanent punishment and transformation with repercussions extending not solely to the individuals themselves, but will stem down to their future bloodline.

Nevertheless, this punishment failed to stop their rebellion against Heaven; they persisted in their insurrection and continued their efforts to persuade fellow humans to partake in the conflict. This unyielding stance compelled Heaven to bestow certain humans with the gift of elemental magic, giving them the means to safeguard their race.

Distinguished and devoted houses were bestowed even more potent magical abilities, assuming leadership roles within the human forces and guiding the valiant warriors in their quest for triumph. These chosen ones were graced with divine magic, a sanctified power akin to that of angels, imparting upon them capabilities similar to the celestial beings themselves.

And just when they thought that this newfound power would secure victory proved erroneous. Human nature’s inherent greed began to stir, leading certain elemental mages to covet the abilities of those bestowed with divine power. This envy drove them to align with the demons, with the annihilation of every divine mage becoming their grim objective.

Lured by the demons, these dissenting mages were given demonic and dark powers, transmuting them into witches. Deceptively masquerading as ordinary humans, they were manipulated by the demons to infiltrate the ranks of the houses blessed with divine magic, methodically eliminating the divine mages.

Chris could no longer contain his silence, prompting him to address the soldier seated beside the carriage. "Excuse me," he inquired, his fingers gripping the wagon’s metal bars, "Today is meant to be the royal wedding. Why are there no festive banners and decorations, similar to those displayed in the port?" His anticipation for the soldier’s response was unmistakable.

A furrow formed on the soldier’s brow, his expression betraying a sense of bewilderment at Chris’ query. "Have you been in some form of hibernation?" he retorted. "The wedding didn’t occur a mere year ago. Both the princess and the prince are nowhere to be found. We are convinced that the demons and witches have abducted them, we don’t even think that they are still alive."

"What do you mean, missing for a year?" Chris interjected, his voice a mixture of disbelief and frustration. "I’m certain today is the day of the royal wedding. I traveled all the way from Arcanis to attend this very event!"

Laughter rippled through the ranks of soldiers and even reached the ears of the prisoners within the wagon, further fueling Chris’ fury. The notion that they might be conspiring against him ignited a fiery anger within, a jest he deemed unforgivable—a sentiment that promised retribution once he escaped the confinement of the carriage.

As they approached the Rügengard Castle, an infantry unit quickly approached them. The soldiers were all dressed in their complete battle gear and carrying heavy weaponry.

"Your Royal Highness!" Exclaimed the Knight Commander.

This caught the attention of Chris and he stood up to see who was the person being greeted by the commander. He saw the commander whisper something to the person who was dressed like a prince going to a battlefield. The man then shifted his head and looked to the carriage, meeting his gaze.

The man commanded his horse towards the carriage and everyone bowed before him including the prisoners inside the carriage except for Chris. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

"I am Crown Prince Andrius of the Zemaria Empire. The Knight Commander informed me that you are exclaiming nonsense, but judging by the way you look, I must say that you are not an ordinary werewolf. Introduce yourself..."

Chris bowed slightly just like how a royal greets a fellow royal and said, "I am Prince Christopher Jorgensen of the Arcanis Kingdom. I am betrothed to the second Princess of Zemaria, the Divine Mage. And I came here to seal the promise between our kingdoms, the alliance by marriage," and Chris slightly bowed once more to give his respect to his fellow prince.

Murmurs erupted from the people watching the interaction between the two princes. Some of the prisoners said that Chris does look like the missing prince of Arcanis since the royalties in the werewolf kingdom hold similar facial features; they all have black wavy hair and gray eyes.

But one thing is very distinct from the bloodline of a true king in Arcanis, they are werewolves that are ruled by the one true alpha who holds the sole right to the throne of their kingdom.

"The Prince of Arcanis has been missing for exactly a year now, do you have proof of the identity you claim to be?" Prince Andrius challenged for he heard that the missing Prince of Arcanis is a true alpha giving him qualities that only he possesses.

Chris smirked at the Prince’s question. He looked straight into Prince Andrius’ eye before he made his eye color change from gray to crimson red, it was so vivid that it almost looked like it was glowing. It is an eye color that only the heirs to the throne possess.

That is one reason why a lot of werewolves believe that their prince is not dead and just missing since no other royals can change their gray eyes into red.

The soldiers and captives who saw his eye transformation gasped and in no time they started to kneel and bow before him one after the other. Werewolf royals are feared not only in Arcanis Kingdom but also all over Vectus Mundus for they are said to have great strength and hold unimaginable unique power.
