The Royal Mark-Chapter 259: Catch That Evil Woman
"Shoot! Get dressed!" Elsa exclaimed after throwing Chris his shirt who just smiled at her while she hurriedly looked for her clothes.
"Don’t just stand there... Move!" she added.
"Why are you in a hurry? They could just wait outside while we put our clothes on," Chris casually said.
"They might think we are doing it in the middle of the day," Elsa replied before stepping into her dress.
"So what, if they think that way? We are married, it’s normal."
"I know, but it’s still embarrassing since it’s my grandpa and grandma. I wouldn’t mind if it was just Andrius, Drake, or Milda."
Elsa acted so fast that she was able to put back her clothes on a few seconds before the chamberlain knocked once more and announced the arrival of the Royals of Zemaria. When they opened the door, she saw Arla and Rylie with them who were discreetly pointing to her chest.
Elsa looked down and immediately fixed her disheveled undergown under her corset.
"Did we disturb you, dear?" Mistress Valeria asked Elsa, who quickly shook her head.
"No, no, you are not. I was feeding Rocco earlier and he is now sleeping." She then turned to Chris and asked, "Can we go to another room instead of here? I don’t want Rocco to wake up because of our voices. It will make him fussy until evening."
"We can go to the drawing room since the servants are still setting up the King and Queen’s room which has a receiving room," Chris answered.
"Rylie, is it ok if you stay here and look after Rocco? He is sleeping, so it won’t be a difficult task," Elsa asked.
"I will be happy to do it, My Queen. I love babies, especially the little prince," Rylie replied.
Elsa smiled and thanked her before the family proceeded to the drawing room.
"Allow me to formally welcome you to Arcanis, King Allister," Chris uttered, his heart quickly beating faster when he saw King Allister frown.
"Where’s the ’grandfather’ in your greeting? You’re not planning to call me ’King Allister’ forever right?"
Everyone chuckled at how red Chris’ face turned and Mistress Valeria quickly nudged King Allister.
"Dear, you are embarrassing our grandson. You looked so serious, I think you have to inform him that you are just joking."
"Well, it was not a joke. I was hoping that you call me grandfather from now on because we are family. I also think that showing everyone how tight-knit our family is will make us strong and not easy to defeat if not invincible to our enemies.
You might think that it’s a bit showy and an act but we don’t have to act. You start by calling me grandfather and then we could always visit each other to strengthen our bond as a family. What do you think Christopher?" King Allister said.
"I would be happy to do your suggestion, Grandfather," Chris smiled and King Allister spread his arms inviting the King of Arcanis for a hug.
"That’s more like it. Anyway, we came to you not only to congratulate both of you for taking back Arcanis but also to talk about your next step. Our war with the witches and demons is not yet over, however, Andrius was able to fill me in with some details," King Allister remarked.
"I will be staying here since my wolf is not stable yet, even after the removal of the hecatolite that was implanted in me. However, I will be sending my elite alphas to join the hunt except for Alpha Hoven Heraldsen because of his tasks as Lord High Steward.
King Stefan will join and also Elandir, who just informed me a while ago. However, once I find the solution how to cure my wolf’s confusion I plan to join them as well. I will leave Arcanis to the hands of my Queen and Lord High Steward," Chris mentioned.
"Father," Andrius swiftly spoke, "If you want me to join the hunt for the witch queen, I will join too."
King Allister looked at Milda who was taking a sip of her tea and said, "No need, Son. Drake already volunteered to join and the army joining the hunt has more than enough firepower. With three kingdoms plus Elandir, looking for her, she will surely be captured in her own land."
King Allister glanced at Milda once more which didn’t go unnoticed by Chris so he suggested, "Grandfather, if you want we can talk about the hunt in detail together with King Stefan and Elandir tonight after dinner. That way we are all calibrated."
Chris hoped that the King of Zemaria would agree since he knew he was worried about giving more details since Irina was suspected to be staying with the witch queen.
"That’s a good idea. I think we have taken so much of your time already when I know that all you want for now is to spend time with your son. I’ll see you later then," King Allister stood up and so did everyone, ready to go to their assigned rooms.
"Grandma," Elsa called out before Valeria stepped out of the door.
"Yes, dear?"
"Could you please take a look at Laureen? I already check her but I don’t know what’s wrong or how to help her. Even the strongest priestess in Arcanis couldn’t do anything. She can’t talk to her wolf but she could her still there."
"Sure, let’s go there now, so you could also rest after."
"You go ahead, I’ll just help our granddaughter," Valeria told King Allister before going with Elsa.
"Grandma, have you heard of my bloodline?" Elsa asked as they walked in the hallway.
"Yes. Arla told me. But I was not surprised though. When I suspected your mother to have a lover, I tried everything to find that man. But everyone I hired failed to find him. Hera would always disappear too from her room even if there were guards outside her room.
It was not possible for her to jump out of the window since it was very high. Deep in my heart, I knew something was not normal but my mind dismissed it. But I always think that perhaps the man she is in love with is someone powerful to be able to help her sneak out like that and hide his existence, staying away from everyone’s eyes."
"Did you not suspect it to be a demon or a witch instead?" Elsa asked.
"No, because my mother cast a spell on her necklace that will alert my mother if ever she’s near a demon or a witch. Plus, I know that Hera wouldn’t do that. She despises them because my father was killed in a war by a demon," Valeria narrated.
"I see. Oh! I suddenly remembered. Good thing you mentioned my great-grandmother. There’s a book in our room that might belong to her. I’ll show you later," Elsa said before knocking on Laureen’s room.
Laura opened the open and bowed to Elsa and Valeria, "My Queen, Mistress. It’s so good to see you."
"Good to see you too, Laura. How is your daughter?" Mistress Valeria asked.
"She’s fine physically but broken emotionally and mentally. She keeps crying and cried herself to sleep a few moments ago," Laura informed them.
"I am here to check her, is that okay with you?" Valeria said.
"Of course, Mistress, I would be forever grateful for your help. Let me get you a chair."
Valeria immediately performed her divine spells on Laureen and hovered her hands on her from head to foot. She repeated it multiple times and recited different divine spells before giving up with a sigh.
"I can’t do it, I can’t heal her since there’s nothing to heal. A powerful magic was cast on her wolf to cage it. And I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news but, her wolf is caged and being suffocated within that cage. Her wolf is dying!" Valeria exclaimed.
Laura covered her mouth with both hands as she began to cry. "No, my poor child. Even though she’s only a half-werewolf, it would break her if she lost her wolf."
"Grandma, what is the solution then? I believe that every problem has a solution, so please tell us what can we do?" Elsa asked in worry.
"The only solution is to either make the witch queen reverse her spell or find another witch who can reverse it. You said that even Arcanis’ priestess couldn’t do anything then which means that the witch queen used either an ancient spell or a forbidden spell. I don’t want to dishearten you but that’s the only solution I could think of," Valeria expressed.
"I know it is hard but we have to try. Once we catch the bitch, I will make her reverse it whether she likes it or not!" Elsa declared with rage.
"What if the witch queen goes into hiding and our soldiers couldn’t find her? What would happen to my daughter then? Will she die?" Laura asked with tears on her face.
"I will make sure that it will never happen. I will catch that evil woman myself!"
The voice that came from the door, which swung open unnoticed, captured everyone’s attention.
