The Royal Mark-Chapter 232: Ancient Spell
When Malvar closes the door of the labyrinth, Gavin slowly opens the door going to the library which is a bookcase on the other side. He positioned his ear near the opening and listened carefully.
"No one is here. We will rescue Lexi, Aeson, and Laureen first before we go to Prince Christopher, as per Lexi’s instruction. Got it?" Gavin said before he opened the door completely.
"Why is it so quiet? Is the castle always like this?" Elsa asked.
"No. They are probably in the Great Hall or castle ground preparing for the blood moon," Gavin said.
Gavin adeptly guided the group through the hallways, ensuring they remained unnoticed. They even pass some connecting rooms that have not been used over the years. As a crucial member of Chris’ elite team, Gavin’s primary task is to acquire vital information, which leads him to uncover the complex passages within the castle.
’This queen is really disgusting, why does she have to force us to eat with her just to show that she has Chris under control? If only I could leave this dining hall and get back to my room, I would not stay here even a second.’
Baahu heard Lexi’s thought which made him stop the others.
"Wait. I can hear Lexi’s thoughts again. Her anger is very strong and they are in the dining hall right now," Baahu said.
"Let’s go there," Elsa said but Elandir quickly stopped her.
"Are you planning to barge in and then what?" he sarcastically asked.
"I will not do that, I just want to see Chris. I have no plans of ruining our plans," Elsa asserted and Gavin agreed.
"There is a wall on one side of the dining hall that has a gap and we can take a peek. Good thing witches don’t have super hearing but King Alaric might be there so we still need to be careful," Gavin reminded them before he showed them the way where that gap was.
Once they were on the spot, they saw the witch queen at the end of the table, her back facing them. Chris and Alaric sat on either side of her facing each other. Lexi sat beside Alaric while Laureen sat beside Chris. Aeson is nowhere to be found.
"Oh, come on Laureen, you don’t have to sulk like that. I am taking good care of your alpha, don’t I?" They heard Queen Yvonne say.
Elsa frowned and tilted her head upon hearing the witch queen’s voice, but she kept her mouth shut and focused her attention on Chris.
"Why are you doing this to the prince? He already agreed to your conditions, is this really necessary? You are killing his wolf!" Laureen exclaimed.
Gavin clenched his fist and so did Elsa. Arla and Rylie held each of her shoulders to calm her down while Elandir grabbed Gavin’s wrist to distract him.
"I wouldn’t have done that if he didn’t try to save Aeson and the others from my experiment. They are werewolves and they heal fast, so I don’t understand why is he so against it," Queen Yvonne said.
"You are evil! You are a demon yourself, and a demon like you has no place in Arcanis!" Laureen yelled but the witch queen only laughed at her.
"Are you delirious? I am already running Arcanis and soon I will Zemaria as well, the beloved kingdom of your mother whom I heard was a powerful mage. I will make her my personal slave as a punishment for your refusal to submit to me!"
Laureen snapped. She slammed the table as she stand up and threw her wine on the witch queen’s face, "You bitch! My mother will never be a slave to slut like you!"
"You!" Queen Yvonne cast a spell that pushes Laureen to the end of the dining hall. She then walked over to her as Laureen weakly struggled to stand up.
"Yvonne, that’s enough," King Alaric said. "I just want to enjoy our dinner. Can you please deal with her later?"
Yvonne halted on her steps and sighed, "Fine! Guards! Take her to her room... Be thankful that I still have a use for you, or I could’ve killed you by now!"
The witch then gazes at Chris who is still sitting with no reaction and staring into nothingness. She picked up the tablecloth in front of him and said, "Look what you have done. My future husband’s shirt and pants are now stained!"
The next thing that she didn’t make Elsa’s eyes glow. The witch queen wiped the wine on his pants near his crotch while smiling. She then licked the wine that got onto his face.
Lexi quickly glanced their way, as if she could see them through, and shook her head slowly. As if trying to tell whoever can see her to stop and don’t do whatever it is that they are about to do.
Elandir quickly covered Elsa’s mouth and Baahu gripped both her hands as they quietly carried her out of that place by following Gavin.
When they were far enough, Elsa’s mages except for Baahu were confused.
"What’s happening?" Kaizer asked Baahu.
"Hold that thought Kai... Gavin Lexi said to meet her in the library," Baahu informed everyone.
"Okay, let’s head there."
Everyone moved fast while Baahu was still carrying Elsa and Elandir covering her mouth. But As soon as they closed the door of the secret room Elsa screamed, "Son of a bitch! I’m going to kill that whore!"
Elandir scratched his head vigorously in annoyance before replying, "What happened to ’not ruining our plans’? You said you would not do such things!"
"How can I? Have you seen what she did? She maniacally touched my husband! And Chris just sat there doing nothing!" Elsa exclaimed angrily before she heard the secret door open.
"Chris is under a spell and it’s poisoning his wolf. The spell was meant for the prisoners but the prince used his body to save them. He has been like that ever since that day. I think his mind shut down in defense to protect his wolf," Lexi revealed upon entering the room.
Elsa covered her mouth and sat on the nearest chair, Rylie quickly walked to her side to check her.
"Do you know what kind of spell?" Arla asked.
"I am not sure what exactly it can do. But the queen hasn’t mastered it yet. I heard it would make them submit to her and follow her commands since the cursed worm would not work them because they are linked to Princess Elsa and Prince Christopher.
Unlike the worm that would kill the host if they disobeyed the queen, this spell would hurt their wolf and eventually kill them if the werewolf did not follow the queen. As a werewolf myself, I would rather choose to die with my wolf rather than be alive with no inner wolf.
The witch queen knows this that’s why she came up with that spell after the torture against Aeson and the others was not successful. They would rather die than submit to the witch queen," Lexi explained.
"This is worse than I predicted," Elandir uttered. "We must inform Andrius, Drake, and Stefan. I know that spell. It is an ancient forbidden spell and if Chris had taken that spell more than a day ago, his wolf would not last until the blood moon."
"But Your Highness, the reason why our prince did this is because of his sister Neia. She must arrive in Arcanis first before we do any action or we might not be able to save her anymore," Gavin mentioned.
"If that’s the only problem, I could find a way to make her and King Mordrak come here as early as tomorrow afternoon. I’ll create some problems regarding the ceremony that will require their presence as soon as possible," Lexi suggested.
"Thank you, Lexi, please do that," Elsa confirmed before turning to Elandir. "That is that spell? Can it be reversed?"
"I know its existence but that’s it, Elsa. I don’t know much about it or if it has a counterspell. It was created by the divine mages, more than a hundred years ago in an attempt to turn the werewolves back to being humans. It was during the very first war when the heavens cursed the human beings who got blinded by the demon’s promise of power and immortality.
However, due to bad side effects, the divine mages took that spell when they went into hiding after the cursed beings threatened their existence."
"Does it mean that sleeping mages are real and the witch queen has found them?" Gavin worriedly questioned Elandir.
"Yes it is real, but I don’t think she had found them. Her source might be different. If she had found where they were then she’d be powerful once she absorbed the energy and power of those mages. If that happens then she will no longer need the blood moon’s help."
"What happened to the werewolves who tried to become humans again?" Elsa finally spoke again.
"Those who successfully turned humans turned crazy after a short while, saying they were hearing voices causing them to kill themselves just to make it stop. While the unsuccessful ones turn rogue or die. Both always end up in their deaths..."
