Chapter 215: Inevitable

"Will you marry me? Please?"

When Valeria just stared at him utterly flabbergasted at his sudden and unplanned proposal he added, "I know this is not a real ring. I just made it a few seconds ago. I took a wire from the gardener. But please don’t think that I am not serious. I will definitely buy you a new one later, when we get back to Zemaria, with the most expensive–"

Valeria stopped ing Allister from speaking by placing her finger on his lips and said, "I don’t mind the ring. You alone are more than enough. You don’t need to explain to me everything for I understand our situation from the very beginning. Yet, I chose to stay by your side no matter what. And I will love you forever too, My King."

The two hugged each other and everyone who witnessed the peculiar proposal from a king cheered in joy including Queen Ydril.

"Wait!" Elsa shouted, catching everyone’s attention.

"Grandma, you have to say yes first!" she added.

It caused another round of laughter from everyone in the garden, just the right moment when King Tyrion and Elandir arrived at the scene. They suddenly appeared behind Queen Ydril, startling her.

"Oh dear, of course, it’s a yes!" Valeria exclaimed and handed her hand to King Allister for him to on her ring.

King Allister pushed the wire ring into Valeria’s hand but it won’t pass through her finger joint.

"It doesn’t fit..." Valeria uttered.

"Good thing it is fake, it can definitely adjusted right here, right now!" the king jested, making everyone laugh again. It was a complete comedy show in which King Tyrion and Elandir had no idea why everyone was having a good time.

"What’s making everyone happy?" King Tyrion asked Queen Ydril.

"The King of Zemaria finally proposed to his mistress, revealing to everyone that she was his only true love, and then Mistress Valeria said the same, and she understood everything that’s why she stayed by his side all these years. Isn’t that romantic?" Queen Ydril uttered excitedly as she clasped her hands together without tearing her gaze from the happy couple.

"Well, that’s both sad and happy. Imagine the amount of time that Valeria had to waste waiting for her love and I cannot fathom how hurt she must be, watching Allister have children with another woman while they are still together. That is something that no one should experience.

I still believe that if you love someone, set them free. Let them grow and be happy on their own. Irina wouldn’t be like that if Allister did not marry her or maybe if he loved her. It is true that now is a happy moment, yet another family and lives were destroyed in the process," King Tyrion replied.

Elandir heard it all. He knows that his father’s comment has no connection to the King of Zemaria but instead is directed to him. It made his heart ache knowing that his own father was not in support of his relationship with Marina.

He had made several attempts to separate them, including sending handsome men to court Marina but none were successful so far. Now he is using a different approach and that is to convince him that he is only hurting her and he cannot make her happy.

But he has a plan, and he would never back out from it. So, for now, he would just take everything that his father is saying in one ear and release it to the other. Someday he will be able to prove it to Marina that, all their sacrifices are worth it.

Hera noticed the Verdant family and gestured for them to join in. Queen Ydril nodded and quickly pulled her husband and son towards the Van der Aart’s and Valeria.

"Congratulations!" greeted by Queen Ydril. "I think this is a joyous occasion and since the weather is great out here. How about we eat our breakfast here in the garden?"

Everyone agreed and the servants were quick to set up their food in the gazebo in the middle of the garden.

"If possible, I would like to go tomorrow. Today, I will just spend my time with my son before I leave tomorrow," Elsa mentioned as they ate.

"That fast? But I haven’t spent much time with my great-grandson!" King Allister quickly retorted.

"You don’t have to go, Allister, you and Valeria can stay here as long as you want. Elsa will be with Elandir plus you brought a lot of soldiers and mages with you. Elsa will be safe on her return to Zemaria," King Tyrion offered.

"That is not what I am worried about. Andrius and Drake will be going to Arcanis as well, and Milda will be left alone in Zemaria so I have to be there when my sons leave. But I want to spend time with Rocco and Hera as well," King Allister said.

"Hmm, that would be a problem then."

"You can return here anytime, Father. Right now, Rocco is usually asleep, so it would be better to go back since you really can’t play with him yet. He still needs as much sleep as he can get. Come back with Elsa and Chris after the war ended.

And I will be here. No more running away, even if I want to, I can’t go so you know where to find me," Hera chuckled and so did King Allister.

"Our daughter as a point. Let’s focus on the important matters first, then once everything is settled we can go here and see Rocco and Hera again. Even I, want to stay but we can’t we have responsibilities back home," Valeria convinced the king.

"Alright. If we will go tomorrow, then let’s leave at first light. So we can end this war right away and we can go back here as soon as possible."

Everyone nodded at King Allister’s suggestion, making the atmosphere serious. Everyone just realized that their journey begins tomorrow. Even though they are confident that they will win the war, they are still not sure how things will turn out.

Surely, they will lose people no matter how careful they are. It’s inevitable. All they could do was give their best and hope that everyone would survive in the coming battle.
