The Royal Mark-Chapter 159: Spill the Details
As the clock struck noon, Elsa and Chris finally made their way to the dining hall to have some lunch with the royal family. Upon entering, Elsa couldn’t resist a mischievous smirk directed at Arla, who responded by nodding humbly and lowering her head, her cheeks tinged with a rosy blush.
In a silent mental exchange with Laureen, Elsa couldn’t help but share her observations about Arla, ’I believe Arla is still a virgin. She caught a glimpse of Chris and me earlier, and now she can’t even bring herself to look at us.’
Laureen, with a playful chuckle, turned her attention to Arla and remarked, ’She’s blushing now. What exactly did she see? Were you two engaging in some baby-making activity? Do spill the details.’
Elsa, trying to maintain a sense of decency, responded, ’Not really, Laureen. She simply saw my boobs, which she had seen before. After all, she is my head lady-in-waiting.’
With a teasing grin, Laureen continued, ’Was the prince’s mouth not on your bosom, then? Because if it was, that would truly be a shock for her.’
Suppressing a laugh, Elsa clarified, ’Laureen! Of course not. We were merely on our way to the bath chamber.’
The two women exchanged amused glances, their laughter bubbling just beneath the surface, unknown to them that their merriment had not escaped the notice of the keen-eyed king.
"Looks like you’re in high spirits, Princess Elsa. I waited for you all morning, but it seems you had more pressing matters to attend to," King Allister remarked with a touch of sarcasm.
Elsa cleared her throat, casting a brief sidelong glance at Chris. "Indeed, Your Majesty. Prince Christopher was still not feeling well this morning, requiring my attention for monitoring and additional medication. Fortunately, the cure I administered proved effective, and he’s now in good health."
"I see. That’s excellent news. I assume you’re prepared to rejoin in the battle. When do you plan to depart?" inquired the king, directing his attention to Chris.
"We plan to set out at dawn tomorrow, Your Majesty. Our aim is to arrive early in the southern territories," Chris responded.
"Prince Christopher, are you certain that you are fit for battle?" Queen Irina inquired a question that left those present in the room visibly surprised.
"Yes, Your Majesty. I appreciate your concern, but I have fully recovered," Chris responded confidently while squeezing Elsa’s thigh after feeling her annoyance towards the queen’s unexpected query.
Queen Irina persisted, "Are you absolutely sure? I’ve heard that the combination of belladonna and wolfsbane can have severe effects on werewolves."
Intrigued and slightly alarmed, Elsa silently communicated with Chris through their mate bond, ’How did she come by this information?’
Chris speculated, ’Perhaps the king informed her. After all, she is the queen.’
Acknowledging the queen’s accuracy, Chris openly shared, "You’re correct, Your Majesty. The effect was serious, and I nearly met my end. But thanks to my wife, I not only survived but emerged stronger." He tenderly grasped Elsa’s hand, which lay on the table, offering a visual display of his gratitude for her.
Observing the exchange, Princess Milda discreetly expressed her disapproval by pursing her lips and quickly diverting her gaze back to her plate, unwilling to engage in the evident emotional connection between Chris and Elsa.
"I’m intrigued, Elsa. What remedy did you administer to the prince for such a rapid recovery?" inquired Queen Irina, her curiosity suspiciously evident.
In response, Chris swiftly told Elsa, through their bond, ’Don’t disclose it to her.’
’I won’t,’ she tersely replied.
Elsa, maintaining a composed demeanor, replied, "Honestly, Your Majesty, I can’t recall all the ingredients. The prescription was quite extensive, and with the urgency of the situation, I didn’t have the luxury of committing it to memory. I’ll need to reread the details to refresh my memory."
"Perhaps you should consider sharing this knowledge with the castle’s head healer. It could prove to be immensely beneficial in future situations," said the queen.
Internally, Elsa couldn’t resist commenting, ’In your dreams, bitch!’ forgetting to shield her mental link from Chris.
Caught off guard by Elsa’s unfiltered response, Chris suppressed a laugh, causing him to choke as he hurriedly consumed his food.
Concerned, Elsa inquired, "Are you alright?"
Chris, regaining his composure, mentally quipped, ’I heard what you said. Just accidentally swallowed a bit too much.’
Smirking, Elsa assured the queen, "Rest assured, Your Majesty, I will gladly share my knowledge with the head healer upon my return."
The family continued to eat without knowing that the newlyweds and the she-wolves were conversing via their mind link.
’We will sneak out tonight. We will make it appear that we left earlier than expected. Bring everything that is important to you. We don’t know when are we coming back to Zemaria,’ Chris informed Elsa.
’Laureen, inform the mages about our plan and make sure no one will know about it.’ Chris continued, ’Lexi, help Aeson prepare our horses tonight. We will only bring two horses for Rylie and Kaizer. The rest of them will ride in our wolf form, that way no one will notice our departure.’
Everyone executed their assigned task as soon as the luncheon was over. Elsa and Chris went their separate ways, with Elsa going to the alchemy room with Valeria.
"Take everything that you need, dear. If you need my help in the south, please don’t hesitate to ask for help. I will be there as soon as I get your message," Valeria almost pleaded to Elsa with a sad voice.
Elsa held her grandma’s hands and smiled, "Grandma, your granddaughter is strong remember? Nothing bad will happen to me. We will keep pushing until we reach Arcanis and I wouldn’t want you in the middle of the chaos. I want you to stay here, where you are safe."
"Here take this," Valeria handed a book to Elsa. "Written there are divine and air magic spells that could help you. Train whenever you have time. I know you already have your fire back so I’ve written some meditation exercises there, practice that so you can control your emotions."
Elsa’s eyes welled up, she wanted to tell her grandmother to not worry about her since she would not join the battle yet. But she couldn’t, it would just scare her more, and might think that she will never return again once she goes to Novus.
She hugged Valeria tight and said, "Thank you for all this. I will send a messenger if I have questions about your book, okay?"
Valeria nodded and both continued to pack the herbs and potions that Elsa might need for her journey.
