Chapter 156: Changing the Topic

Chris immediately called up a meeting with his five loyal alphas as soon as he and Elsa finished their morning love-making session. He felt a lot better after spending that quality time with his wife whom he thought he would never see again after drinking the poison.

"Uhm, Your Highness..." Aeson Bjorn, Alpha of Midnight Pack uttered, "Are we really going to have our meeting in your bed chamber?

"Yes, is there a problem?" Chris asked.

"Uhm... It’s just that, it’s making us uncomfortable–" Aeson was cut off by Hoven.

"We can smell that you just had sex in here; that’s what he wanted to say. So can we please have our meeting somewhere else? You don’t have to rub in our face that we are single and you’re not," Hoven interjected.

"Well, as much as I want to, I can’t. I was put under strict supervision by Dr. Morgan. So I can’t leave this room until she says so," Chris explained.

"Doctor who?" Gavin Hartoff of Shadow Moon pack asked.

"He meant Dr. Elsa Jorgensen. He keeps forgetting that I already changed my name," Elsa who just entered the room with a tray of food said.

"Doctor means healer in my world. Have you guys eaten breakfast yet?" She added.

"We haven’t. And your husband is being inconsiderate, calling a meeting so early in the morning just because he had his fill already," Hoven said frivolously, which Elsa understood causing her to blush. She just realized that they hadn’t changed the sheets and these alphas can definitely smell what happened earlier.

"Geez, get married too, so you can have a delicious breakfast every morning. Right, love?" Chris smirked at Elsa, not knowing she was not liking his joke.

Her face turned redder and immediately covered the breakfast that she personally prepared for Chris. "So you are telling them that you’ve eaten breakfast huh? Then you don’t need this. Continue your meeting boys, I’ll eat on the balcony. Alone!" Elsa walked out and went to the balcony with the tray of food in her hands.

"B-But! I am hungry–" Chris rebutted but Elsa squinted her eyes, glaring at him before stepping out of the glass balcony door.

"What you’ve eaten this morning is not enough?" Elsa sarcastically asked.

"It was, b-but–" Elsa didn’t give him a chance to speak and stepped out of the door.

The five alphas could barely contain their laughter and chortle as soon as Elsa closed the door.

"We didn’t know that the future King of Arcanis is scared of his wife," Tallor Sigrids of Night Walker pack jested.

"Enough with the joke, let’s get back to business," Chris implored.

"Changing the topic is a good way to get away with denial," Blake Messick of Silver Crescent Pack said, causing another round of laughter amongst them.

"Come on let’s focus. We still need to get back to the south and take back Arcanis," Chris said, prompting everyone to focus back on the issue at hand.

"We have been anticipating to know what made you drink the poison," Hoven asked.

"Neia is in Kurzen. The witch queen offered her to the demon king to be his bride when she turns into an adult. But her real intention was to use her as collateral so that my uncle would continue their deal," Chris explained.

"What? She is still insisting on the sleeping mages? She still can’t accept that penetrating Zemaria’s defenses is almost impossible for her and Alaric," Tallor said.

"No, not that. They want me. Erwan was the messenger. My uncle was asking me to help him get Neia back. The plan was I would drink the wolfsbane which he knew couldn’t kill a true alpha like me but I would be very sick and then heal eventually.

Apparently, he found a witch who could copy my face for a short period of time and put it on a dead body. On my burial day, I will rescue Neia and take her back to Zemaria. And never return to Arcanis."

"Wow, and you agree to all of that?" Aeson asked in astonishment.

"Of course, I have a different plan in mind. I just made him believe that I was willing to trade Arcanis for my sister he didn’t know I was planning to kill him and the witch queen. But that bitch put belladonna together with the wolfsbane, altering the effect of it," Chris explained.

"So what is our plan now?" Hoven asked.

"I need to re-arrange your assignments. Gavin, find out where the wolfsbane came from. It has been eradicated years ago and I am sure that not a single plant grows in the southern kingdoms. Aeson you will go with me, while the three of you will go back to the frontline and fight, help our people," Chris instructed.

"And where are you going? Aren’t we supposed to be attacking your uncle by now?" Gavin inquired.

"I need to speak with the Elven Council. It’s very important and they could help us or at least Elsa. We still have time. Neia is safe, the demon king will not marry her until she comes of age since that’s what their ritual requires. So I will use that time to gain more power so we can defeat my uncle easily," Chris explained.

"And you need me to do some convincing, am I right?" Aeson question.

"Yes, I want you to convince the council to let Elandir fight with us. He alone is good enough," Chris said.

"That old cunning elf? No way!" Aeson retorted.

"He’s a good person and my true friend. He is just playful and was just playing a trick on you all. So if you could forget about that and move on, we have a war to fight."

Almost all the men sighed except for Hoven, "OK, for Arcanis we will forget that for a while that he told his father that we kidnapped him when he literally ran away. But after that I want a one-on-one fight with him to settle this," Hoven bravely said.

Chris chuckled and nodded, "Alright, I will tell him that. I am sure he would agree and would love your suggestion."
