The Royal Mark-Chapter 114: Chaining Him
"That’s right. I had this mark even before I met him – wait... hmm never mind," Elsa said stirring curiosity from everyone in the room.
"What is it dear, tell us," Valeria said.
Elsa turned to Laureen’s grandmother and asked, "Is it possible for a werewolf to mark their mate before they come of age? Or can they mark their mate unconsciously?"
The old woman gazed on an empty wall thinking deeply, "Such were never heard of. But perhaps you can ask the seer after the wedding? It doesn’t matter now if he marked you on purpose or not, you will be wed and will complete the mating bond tonight anyway."
"But I still want to know how it happened," Chris said and Elsa chimed in.
"Me too."
"Alright, that’s settled then. Everyone out! Let the bride finish her preparation for the wedding! Out, out, out!" Arla gently pushed the old women toward the door not knowing that Chris had slipped her watch.
The prince swiftly went to his bride and enveloped her in his, sealing her lips with his, "I miss you, princess, sorry I have been busy because of the preparation of the mating ritual. I need to organize a lot of things, since we are not in Arcanis," Chris quickly explained.
"I know, you don’t have to explain. I understand," Elsa said.
"Let’s go, Prince Christopher. You still have to fit the chains," Hoven playfully smirked, only for Chris to glare at him.
"Chain? What chain?" Elsa asked in surprise. This was the first time that she heard a groom being chained.
"Don’t mind him. He was just jealous that he hadn’t found his mate yet," Chris replied but Elsa did not accept his answer.
"Is there something that I need to know? You’re not the only one getting married here you know," Elsa crossed her arms. She can feel that there’s more to Hoven’s words.
"Hoven, please take the groom back to his room. I’ll explain everything to the bride, she has the right to know. It’s she who will be marked after all," Laureen said and Hoven quickly obeyed pulling Chris out of the room with a worried face.
Elsa turned to Laureen waiting for the promised explanation. Laureen took and hand and pulled her to sit back in front of the mirror. "Princess, I was going to tell it to you later but then here it goes. Hoven and the others including me and Lexi requested for an earth mage to enchant a chain, to protect you tonight.’
"Protect me from what? Chris?" Elsa didn’t get what Laureen meant at all.
"Yes, princess," Lexi said. "We are all very worried that you might not be able to survive the night so as a precautionary measure, my brother suggested chaining him up until he marks you. The mage we spoke with said that the marking will be the trigger for the chain to lose its enchantment since it’s the only thing we need."
"I still don’t understand. You are speaking alien to me," Elsa replied, confusing Lexi for she does not understand what aliens mean.
"The prince could be very dangerous on his wedding night even to a mage like you. The ritual that will make his wolf believe that it’s the full moon will also enhance its primal urge to mate with you. The prince is not an ordinary werewolf, he is a true alpha and the strongest of us all. And that’s the same strength that we all fear might hurt you in the process," Laureen explained.
"But is chaining him necessary? I think it’s too much. How can we mate if he is chained to the wall?" Elsa complained.
"We just want you to be safe and alive princess, but he will not be chained to the wall. The earth mage will just enchant the cuffs he’s wearing to restrict his movements a bit to reduce his super strength so that he will just be as strong as a normal person to match you," Lexi said.
"Will it hurt him?" Elsa worriedly asked.
"No, but the chains will feel heavy to restrict his movements and that way he won’t be able to hurt you too," Laureen said.
"Alright, I guess that’s fine," Elsa replied.
"But princess, we want to promise that you will not think twice and get out of there if ever you feel that you are in danger. You are married anyway at that point and you can still complete the marking on the next full moon. It is safer on that day. Please promise us," Arla pleaded.
Elsa rolled her eyes at Arla, she and Chris had done it twice already and she did not experience any of what they were saying. ’What are they even afraid of?’
"Alright promise, I will run away as fast as I could if ever Chris becomes a threat to my safety. Happy?" Elsa uttered.
Arla was satisfied with her answer and smiled back, "Alright let’s finish doing your hair, your little game with Inez messed it up a bit."
The girls chuckled and resumed their task of making Elsa the most beautiful bride in Zemaria. She was amazed at how skillful her ladies-in-waiting were. If she was in Novus, she would have had to hire an artist just to do her hair and makeup but in Zemaria, her ladies got her covered.
She stared at herself with a smile seeing how beautiful she was because of them, but still, their words earlier lingered in her mind. She’s getting curious by the minute thinking what if they said was true. A bit of fear crept into her mind but more than that, she was excited about what Chris had in store for her tonight.
"There... Absolutely perfect!" Rylie exclaimed after placing the tiara on her head at the final touch of her look.
Elsa stood up and checked herself out left and right. She was more than satisfied with their work and she internally agreed with Rylie that she looks absolutely perfect.
They heard a knock on the door before they could all compliment Elsa on her beauty. Drake went it as soon as Arla opened the door.
Drake became conscious upon seeing all the ladies looking at him puzzled at what he was doing there, "Uhm, the king sent me to pick you up. I will accompany you in the carriage going to the church. I hope you will not say no. I really wanted to do this for my favorite sister, Hera, the situation changed but I would still want to accompany my favorite niece on her way to her groom," Drake said while scratching his head.
