"Nothing. It’s just that my parents were so passionately in love with each other that I got tired of it," voiced out Lucas.

Violet furrowed her brows and stared at him, waiting for him to continue.

"You want to know the whole story?"

Violet nodded, but then thinking it might be too rude, she shook her head.

Lucas let out a chuckle.

"It’s nothing impressive. My parents wanted each other to themselves and couldn’t tolerate anyone else in their world, not even their children. My sister and I were just mistakes in their world.

If possible, they probably would have killed us for interfering between them, but I suppose, we should be grateful for the laws being strict enough to protect us or else how could you have met someone hot and sexy like me?" Lucas jokingly expressed, winking at her.

Lucas thought about the time his sister and him had to fend for themselves. Because he was the younger child, it was always his older sister protecting him.

His sister locked him away in the closet— in the darkness— when his mother had one of those episodes. It was always triggered when their father had any contact with them.

And his mother inflicted her anger on his older sister, his father watched from the sidelines. It was as if this happened to be a sick twisted game they enjoyed.

Violet fell quiet and played with her fingers. Bringing this up and recalling those memories shouldn’t be pleasant for Lucas.

"Why are you looking like that? It’s not a big deal. At the end, those two psychos just shot at each other at the same time and killed themselves. I don’t know what was going through their head, but they probably counted it as an expression of their love." Lucas’s tone was mocking.

"I am sorry, I—"

Before Violet could carry on further, Lucas pinched her cheek and advised, "That’s why, my dear, you need to spread your love. When you concentrate it to one person, things get nasty."

Violet found herself in a difficult position. She felt bad for both Lucas and Lydia. Both of them were right from their own positions.

Violet’s mind was distracted. Sitting on the ground, she held a piece of grass in her hand. As the rabbit chewed on it, her gaze stayed on the ground.

After contemplating for a while, she let out a sigh.

Once the rabbit was done chewing the grass, she subconsciously reached out to pull another one. But her finger got pricked by a thorn, bringing her back to her senses. She noticed the droplet of blood gathering on her hand.

"What has you troubled?" Sylas questioned.

Violet raised her head to look at the tall and attractive man. The pair of hazel eyes was covered in a layer of water, appearing pitiful. A small pout was present on her face.

"Alpha," Violet enunciated— her tone a little whiny.

Sylas arched his brow.

"Do you know about Lucas’s and Lydia’s situation?" Violet asked. There was no way Sylas wouldn’t be informed.

"Leave that to them. They can handle it," Sylas responded.

"But both of them just wants to fight against each other. In this way, no one will be happy. Can’t we do something to make sure they get along well?" Violet voiced out.

Sylas smiled at her and gently advised, "That would make you meddlesome, Violet. They have their own ways of handling things. They wouldn’t want you to interfere, got it?"

"But isn’t there something we can do?" Violet tilted her head. "I just think both of them are pitiful."

Before Sylas could respond, Violet’s phone rang, and she realized she received a message from Jason. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com

"The plan is going successfully. Beta is in the pack, and he was convinced by my words. He decided to visit the council next," were the words of Jason.

Violet turned her phone to show it to Sylas.

"What do you think?" she asked.

The rabbit jumped from Violet’s lap to Sylas’s hold. He petted its fur softly and said, "Good job. You can do as you see fit. And when you come across a hard wall, I will clear out the way for you."

Violet’s heart skipped a beat. Her gaze stayed on the rabbit before she leaned her head closer to Sylas and demanded, "Pet me as well."

Sylas smiled before placing his hand on her head and rubbing it gently.

"Stanley, what are you doing in the pack all of a sudden?" asked Mathew in confusion. He tried to maintain his smiling and polite expression.

Although he was the Alpha of the pack, when it came to power and influence, he still needed to be wary of Stanley Hudson. He didn’t dare to exert his dominance on him like rest of the pack.

"I have already talked with the council. Since the previous Alpha had already assigned me to become Luna Violet’s guardian, I will be foreseeing the matters related to her inheritance," Stanley voiced out.

The council wasn’t impenetrable, and by offering them with enough benefits, Stanley could get rid of their doubts.

The smile on Mathew’s face faltered for a second.

"How come I haven’t heard of anything related to that?" Mathew questioned while inwardly cursing Stanley. He wondered where this money greedy Beta got this idea from suddenly.

"There was no need for you to hear about it. I initially thought you were taking good care of the pack, but now it appears to be a mess. Therefore, I have come to oversee the affairs," Stanley vocalized.

Mathew knew that the sly bastard was lying. He didn’t care if the pack went underground as long as his profits were maintained.

"I understand your concern, Beta. But you see, the mines belong to the pack, and the pack is struggling, so if you could consider that... After all, you have a lot of buisnesses under you, and these small mines shouldn’t catch your attention."

Stanley looked at him in disapproval.

"Why are you making it seem like I am doing it for my own benefits, Alpha? I too am worried about the pack, but more than that, I am concerned about Luna Violet. After all, she was like my own child. I don’t want any injustice to be done to her," Stanley expressed.

Mathew could only clench his hand in anger.
