Chapter 38: Timid

Although Violet was warned not to run around outside under the bright afternoon sun, she usually paid no attention to the words like a naughty child. At this, Lucas could only helplessly press a large hat on her head, hoping it would provide her with some protection.

Violet recalled about the moves Sylas had taught her earlier. Treating the tree as her opponent, her eyes narrowed while she raised her feet to kick it. freewebnσvel.cøm

The sound of the leaves rustling caught her attention, and feeling the presence of another made her alert. She narrowed her eyes at the intruder.

She was surprised to find Jason standing there.

After he rescued her last time, she wanted to learn about his condition. Seeing him do well now made her feel relieved.

There was regret and depression in his eyes as Jason enunciated, "Luna Violet."

He then went down on his knees next, shocking Violet. "I am sorry for my incompetence. I couldn’t protect you. You were hurt and had to flee. There is nothing I can give you in return other than my life. I won’t ask for your forgiveness. Just give me a chance to make it up to you."

Frightened by his mannerism, Violet immediately grabbed on to his shoulder, indicating him to stand up. "There is no need for you to do this. You rescued me last time around, and I can’t blame you. It’s understandable you did not go against Mathew."

Tears welled up in his eyes, trailing down his cheek. His self-blame only increased, seeing how kind Violet was. Violet was supposed to be the most revered member in the pack, but now she even talked with him so calmly.

"The previous Alpha had done a lot for us all, and it’s a great shame that instead of repaying you, we harmed you. I learned from the rumors you’re here and took the liberty to see you.

Please use me as you like. I am willing to go through fire for you. Give me your orders, Luna Violet," he pleaded desperately.

His repentance made Violet fall into a troubled position.

Before she could speak, another masculine voice interrupted her. "Here you are, Jason. I was wondering where you wandered around. It seems that you have come to find her."

Tyler expressed, scrutinizing Violet from top to bottom. Other losing few kilograms of weight, Violet looked happy and vibrant, showing how she was well taken care and enjoyed her days here.

Jason’s eyes sharpened cautiously when they fell on Tyler. He tensed and stood in front of Violet, guarding her.

"What are you doing here? Luna, escape from here. I will protect you," Jason vocalized.

Noticing Jason’s hostility, Violet realized Tyler might not be up to something good.

Her hand reached out for the gun in her pocket. Although she hadn’t learned how to shoot accurately, the weapon of self-defense in her pocket made her feel relieved.

Tyler raised his hands. "I mean no harm. I just wanted to see what you’re up to."

Then, tilting his head to gaze at Violet, he expressed, "See, I told you there was no need to fuss. She is leading a better life than us. A privileged princess always has a way to get around."

Violet frowned, not liking Tyler’s choice of words.

She then noticed the subtle red marks on both Tyler’s and Jason’s body. Creases formed between both of her brows, wondering what they were caused by.

Tyler noticed her focus. A smile played on his lips. Extending his arm, he spoke out, "The Alpha released the anger of not being able to capture you on us. What? Do you find it pitiful? Why don’t you accompany me back then?"

Jason’s jaw tightened, assuming a position to fight Tyler if he crossed the line.

"Tyler, watch it," he threatened.

Violet stopped standing behind Jason. Taking a step forward, she stated, "I am not going back. But my pack, I will get it back for sure. And when I do, I will clear everyone’s grievances, including mine."

Her tone was resolute, meaning every single one of those word.

Tyler sneered. "You sure sound confident for someone who was reduced to a mere human."

Violet wasn’t without temper when someone provoked her. "Then, you can continue to follow Mathew and get beaten up by him. Must be real fun, right?"

"Enough with the disrespect, Tyler. Luna, have you decided what you will do?" Jason said.

The trust and loyalty showed towards her made her feel guilty. In contrast, Tyler’s scorn provoked her.

Violet had no directions planned in her head, but folding her arms over her chest, she confidently stated, "I have my plans. However, since I am in the process of recovering, I am taking it slow."

Tyler then thoughtfully stared at her stomach and vocalized, "You don’t need to work that hard actually. Once your child is born, it will naturally have Alpha blood. If he is a boy, it’s better, but a girl would work too. Your child can directly succeed."

Violet’s eyes widened. That’s a new direction to think in.

"Don’t tell me you haven’t thought of that before?" asked Tyler.

Violet shook her head.

"I haven’t, but I don’t want to put my child in danger. This is not what I want to bring my child in the world. It will be selfish of me to do so," Violet expressed.

Tyler scoffed. "You’re quite idealistic and self-righteous, aren’t you?"

Violet frowned.

"Luna, don’t worry. You have me by your side. I will support you in anything you want to do. Choose whatever you feel comfortable with," Jason supported her wholeheartedly.

"Both of you have something wrong here, right?" Tyler questioned, pointing towards his head. "Like a damned retard, you will be supporting her who isn’t even able to make a reasonable decision."

Violet pulled her lips into a thin line, displeased by Tyler’s attitude. There was nothing she owed this man. How dare he be disrespectful to her?

Violet moved closer to him. Not holding back, she stepped on his feet before kneeing his stomach, causing him to crouch down. The few days of training with Sylas taught her exactly where to hit.

"You, bitch," cursed Tyler as he grabbed his stomach and fell on his knees.

"If you want to side with Mathew, do as you please. However, don’t for a moment think that you will be able to dictate my actions. I do as I want," Violet coldly voiced out. Although Violet was used to being meek, her hazel eyes held an invisible pressure to them.

Jason nodded in approval at the side. That’s how the Luna should be.

"Ignore him, Luna. He is the one with problems. I will help support your decision."

"Leave for now, both of you. Nothing good will come out of it you’re spotted with me. I will contact you if I need anything, Jason," Violet spoke out.

As Violet was about to leave, Jason’s expectant eyes stared at her. "How will you be contacting me?"

Now this was an issue. Because of her lack of wolf, she was unable to use mind-link.

"I will give you my phone number. Does that work?"

Jason nodded obediently.

This meeting left her with more thoughts. Although Violet maintained her composure well, now that she was on her own, her shoulder slumped, and a groan left her mouth. She stared down at the ground while she made her way to the house.

Why does life has to be so difficult?

A yawn left her mouth, feeling sleepy.

Her eyelids were about to close when they shot open at the stranger standing in front of the house, conversing with Sylas.

Although the man was around the same height as Sylas, his exaggerated muscles, covered in dark tattoos, made him appear more intimidating. A scar ran down his face, and his hair was a tousled mess. Shadows of stubble covered his lower face.

Despite the indifference worn on his face, Violet found him gloomy and sinister. Noticing her presence, his grim silver-grey eyes fell on Violet. Feeling like a small prey eyed by a vicious predator, Violet’s blood ran cold, and she froze.

She wanted to run away from here.

"So, this is the child you adopted," the man rumbled. His voice gravelly, guttural voice carried a menacing edge.

Sylas’s gaze fell on Violet, and he smiled in an attempt to soothe her agitated nerves. "She is a timid one, Uncle. Don’t scare her."
