The Revenge of the Reborn Supreme Sovereign-Chapter 313 - 306: Bottom Line! (5)
If one were to say that fate was predetermined by the heavens, then it would seem every action a mortal takes is part of that plan. Whether it be fortune or misfortune, joy or sorrow, it has perhaps all been waiting for that pivotal moment within the turning gears of destiny.
Emerging from the men’s dormitory area, Qin Fan, who was intimately familiar with the personalities of his three roommates from 708, didn’t choose a restaurant off-campus. Instead, he set his sights on the campus cafeteria.
As he crossed through a lush greenbelt with its own picturesque charm, Qin Fan suddenly stopped in his tracks. An icy chill spread across his face. It was pure anger.
"Old Four, what’s wrong?" Li Qiuzhe asked from behind, startled to see their group’s leader stop so abruptly. He couldn’t help but follow Qin Fan’s gaze. There, four stunningly beautiful, goddess-like women were laughing and talking as they walked toward the nearby campus supermarket.
The sight stunned Li Qiuzhe. Damn! The top scholar of the college entrance exam gets weak in the knees at the sight of beautiful women?
However, Wang Dalu, who was right next to Qin Fan, caught the unnatural coldness on his friend’s face. His heart skipped a beat, and he asked, "Old Four, what’s wrong? Do you know them?"
"I met and talked with one of them during orientation... Heh, never mind. Let’s go," Qin Fan said, roused by Wang Dalu’s words. The iciness on his face faded as he forced a smile. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
"Don’t be like that, Old Four! Which one do you know? Let’s go say hi! It’s four on four. If we can spark a romance between our two dorms, our college years will be amazing! Don’t worry, Old Four, your brothers will definitely let you pick first, haha!" Li Qiuzhe’s eyes lit up as he laughed heartily.
But as soon as the words left his mouth, Wang Dalu discreetly tugged on the hem of his shirt. Wang Dalu had clearly sensed the coldness on Qin Fan’s face. Old Four definitely knew one of those women, but with that kind of expression, how could they just brazenly walk over? Although he was only slightly older than Qin Fan, Wang Dalu’s emotional intelligence was high; he had honed his ability to read people in his not-so-harmonious family. Now, hearing Li Qiuzhe’s outburst, he felt a surge of apprehension.
"Old Three, why are you pulling me? You really want to let an opportunity like this slip by?" The bluntness typical of a Northeasterner was on full display, as Li Qiuzhe didn’t even try to decipher Wang Dalu’s gesture and just blurted out his thoughts.
"Boss, I don’t think this is a good idea," Zhu Houqing added from behind, also sensing Qin Fan’s slight unease as he forced a smile.
"What’s not a good idea? You can’t let a prize like this go to some other guys! If we don’t make a move, someone else will! As the saying goes, ’The one in the best position gets the prize first.’ Since Old Four knows them, how can we miss this chance?" Li Qiuzhe declared boisterously.
Damn! How on earth did a guy like the Boss get into Jinling University? At this, Zhu Houqing and Wang Dalu were utterly speechless.
Just as Li Qiuzhe’s voice faded, Jiang Yino, who happened to turn her head in their direction, froze for a second. Then, she called out, "Great God?"
Great God? What Great God? Li Qiuzhe and the other two were completely dumbfounded.
But as Qin Fan met Jiang Yino’s gaze, a genuine, happy smile blossomed on his face. He nodded at her and began walking over. Seeing this, Li Qiuzhe and the others scrambled to follow.
"Yinuo, are you heading to the supermarket?" Arriving at Jiang Yino’s side, Qin Fan spoke softly with a smile, his eyes fixed only on her as if she were the only person in the world.
"Yeah! I didn’t bring a lot of stuff because it was too much trouble, so I’m out to buy a few things! Great God, what are you guys up to?" Jiang Yino replied with an easygoing laugh. Although she was young, a nascent intellectual charm was already taking shape in every smile and frown.
The sight left Qin Fan staring in a daze once again. He was facing the woman for whom he’d once felt an undying love, but time had rewound to the moment they first met. He could only gaze at the woman he’d given his life to love, desperately suppressing the impulse to rush forward and embrace her.
How agonizing was that? No one could understand. Only his heart, which incessantly whispered her name, could truly know the emotional torment he was suffering.
In his past life, when reading novels, Qin Fan had often envied those who were reborn into their past. Yet he had never considered the flip side. A reborn person might be able to change the world, his life, and the fates of many, but the secret psychological torment they had to endure was unimaginable to ordinary people.
"Hey, beautiful, we’re about to get something to eat! Have you eaten yet? Why don’t you join us? The more the merrier!" Before Qin Fan could respond, Li Qiuzhe cut in with a cheeky, lecherous grin.
"Qin Fan!"
Just then, Xu Jiayi walked over, a hint of panic flickering deep in her eyes. After all, she was a young woman not yet twenty. With a guilty conscience, how could she possibly act completely calm?
As Xu Jiayi spoke, Qin Fan’s expression instantly turned cold. But for Jiang Yino’s sake, he reined in his emotions and gave an indifferent nod.
"Oh, Jiayi, you know this top-scoring Great God?" Jiang Yino exclaimed in surprise.
"Yes, Qin Fan and I went to the same high school," Xu Jiayi replied softly with a smile, slightly averting her gaze from Qin Fan.
"You’re high school classmates? How come you never mentioned it?" Jiang Yino asked, curious.
"We weren’t very close; we just knew of each other. Yinuo, you all go ahead and shop. We’re off to eat," Qin Fan interjected before Xu Jiayi could answer. As he finished speaking, the look he sent toward Xu Jiayi turned bone-chillingly cold.
After more than a month with no contact, he had never imagined that Xu Jiayi would choose Jinling University. If he remembered correctly, in his past life, she had attended Fudan University in Demon City. But in this life, she had come to Jinling. Qin Fan knew perfectly well what that meant.
Xu Jiayi, oh, Xu Jiayi, I hope you don’t stray too far down this path of self-destruction! She can be as crazy as she wants, throw herself into the fire like a moth, and I can ignore it all. But that’s on one condition: she is not to involve Jiang Yino in any way, shape, or form. That is my bottom line, my absolute bottom line! If she dares to take even half a step over that line, not even the heavens can save her! Qin Fan secretly shook his head and snorted inwardly.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa! Old Four, don’t be in such a hurry to leave! These beautiful ladies haven’t even said if they’ll eat with us yet!" Seeing Qin Fan about to leave, Li Qiuzhe called out urgently.
He seemed to have forgotten how, back in Room 708, his teeth used to chatter just from speaking to Qin Fan. Anyone who hadn’t witnessed that would have assumed they were the thickest of friends. The quintessential Northeasterner trait—diving into any social situation without reservation—was once again on full display in Li Qiuzhe.
