Chapter 56: A Reflection of Aether

Just then, Aether’s Abyssal energy began spinning inside his abdomen, sucking in the dragon’s mana through the sword.

[Activating Absorbation]

What?

Aether was confused by the sudden pull.

The Abyssal energy then began flowing out of his body, swirling in front of him.

The swirling resembled a black hole, as if a black hole itself were sucking in the dragon’s mana.

As the dragon felt its mana being drained, it quickly crashed to the ground on its back, hoping to crush Aether.

But Aether survived. The dragon staggered a few steps and then fell again, yet Aether was still unharmed.

The reason was simple, Aether was in Berserk mode. In this state, he automatically healed himself.

Then the dragon grew weak and fell face-first on the ground. Its mana was still being absorbed.

Dragons possess such vast amounts of mana that they are often called nature itself. Even a single dragon’s heart can grant immense power to a mage.

Morover, From the looks of it, this dragon had lived for nearly 200 years. In human terms, that was roughly the age of a twenty-year-old. Perhaps that was why it was so arrogant.

"Eu...gh...human.." the dragon struggled to speak.

Aether looked at it with narrowed eyes and spoke in a menacing tone,

"Even Cindralok, Pyrrathion, and Ignavros think a thousand times before coming at me, yet a mere foot soldier like you dares to bare your fangs at my family."

Upon hearing those names, the dragon’s eyes widened in horror. They were the names of the strongest in his Red Dragon tribe.

"Wha...t are you?" the dragon asked in fear. Aether’s Abyssal energy, his healing, his experience, everything was out of place.

The dragon had lived in the empire for a long time, but he had never seen someone this ominous.

Aether then tightly gripped his sword as the berserk mode was about to end.

He pulled the blade free and, with all his might, thrust it downward. The sword, shrouded in Abyssal energy, pierced through the dragon’s head and emerged from the other side.

"Geeeeeaaaahheeeeekk"

The dragon let out a piercing scream, teetering on the brink of death.

As the dragon was about to die from the blade piercing its head and the mana being sucked by the Abyssal energy, he saw a vision.

It was shown to him by the Abyssal energy.

He saw a familiar place, the land where he was born and had lived for about 180 years.

It was the Red Dragon Tribe’s sky island. Below, millions of dragons were gathered on the ground.

The dragon, Ragon, was watching from the sky, and all the dragons on the ground were bowing to him.

But the scene felt ominous.

What is happening?

The dragon, Ragon, felt uneasy.

Just then, he sensed someone’s presence behind him and quickly turned to look.

There was a man. He wore long, strange robes with patterns that looked like Imugi dragons crawling across the fabric.

A cold, intricate mask covered his face, hiding his identity.

He had white hair flowing in the wind, and crimson eyes could be seen through the holes of his mask.

The dragon, Ragon, who was witnessing this vision, couldn’t recognize the man at all.

So the dragons were bowing to this mysterious man!

As the dragon, Ragon was lost in thought, the world crumbled, and the space turned dark. The mysterious man was now standing face to face with him.

The dragon, Ragon, asked in confusion and fear,

"Who are you?"

The man then removed his mask, revealing his face.

But the moment the dragon saw it, he began shaking violently in fear.

The man’s face resembled Aether von Noctvain.

But the man in front of him was a little older than the current Aether.

Then the man, who resembled Aether, raised his hand, and the dragon felt a pulling force.

The dragon’s body turned into dark mist and was being sucked directly into his hand.

Fwoooooosh!

"Nooooooo!" the dragon screamed in pain. But in an instant, he was completely absorbed.

Meanwhile, in reality, the dragon’s body became lifeless, and the Abyssal energy that had been sucking its mana stopped.

Aether fell back onto the dragon’s back and lay down in exhaustion.

As the berserk mode ended, he felt agonizing pain throughout his body. Blood flowed from his eyes and nose. His mouth was filled with blood. He spat out some, only for more to fill his mouth again.

And the super regeneration wasn’t activating either.

But he was calm. He just needed to lie still for a while until someone from the Noctvain family found him.

Just then, Cierra and Thalia reached the place where the dragon lay dead. They saw Aether on its back and quickly ran toward him.

"Aether, Aether!" Cierra hurriedly placed his head on her lap and called out to him.

But Aether was not in a position to speak, his throat wracked with agony.

Thalia von Ravenfall stood beside Cierra, carrying Solmira.

She had felt a pain in her heart, but now that pain was intensifying rapidly.

"Cough.... Cough.... I’m fine, don’t worry." Aether spoke through the pain. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

Upon hearing his voice Cierra burst into tears and quickly cast a healing spell on him.

While they were still in distress seeing Aether like that, the Ravenfall family Patriarch and Aether’s mother reached the spot.

Both of them were shocked at the dragon’s corpse. Aether’s mother then rushed to Aether, worried.

"Haaaa...." The Ravenfall family Patriarch sighed in relief, seeing his daughter completely unharmed.

The only one who was badly injured was Aether.

The warriors of the Noctvain family also reached the spot.

All of them were dumbfounded at the sight of the dragon’s corpse. The explosion they had witnessed was at least an 8th-circle-level destruction. But for Aether, who was barely a Sword Master, to defeat such a monstrous being, everyone was astonished beyond measure.

Then a man shouted excitedly from among the warriors, "Didn’t I already tell you he has the potential to surpass the Sword God realm?"

He was the Iron Fang Squad captain, Valor Fiercy.

When he had told them about the sword techniques Aether displayed against the soulborne, most of the warriors hadn’t believed him, claiming he was exaggerating.

But after witnessing such power, everyone could do nothing but believe.
