The Reaper's Wicked Obsession-Chapter 142: The Object Of His Obsession
Chapter 142: The Object Of His Obsession
’No, it’s too soon.’ Logi narrowed his eyes. But Gods knew the look in Kraven’s eyes forced a conclusion.
"When she held a dagger to her throat..." Kraven began. "I felt... something."
"What did you feel?"
Kraven chuckled almost mocking the next words he was about to say. "I felt fear. Is that normal?"
Logi shrugged. "It’s normal to feel fear, even when you look at me like I’m the next pound of flesh to dissect." He raised his hands. "I’m not judging."
Kraven took another drink.
"Do you remember the last time you felt fear?" Logi asked curiously.
"I don’t remember, maybe I did once," he said, spacing out again.
"The mate bond’s making you feel things you weren’t conditioned to, emotions that don’t involve your astonishing insanity."
"Is there a way to strip this bond? It’s useless, Isadora doesn’t feel it any way she never will."
Logi stiffened at his words because he said them so easily he was caught off guard.
"Breaking the bond would mean you’re no longer mates, what’s the point of your obsession then?" he reasoned.
Kraven grinned like a Cheshire feline and said. "What made you think my obsession began because we were mates?"
Logi gulped.
"I admit I was interested when I tethered. When I felt the mate bond pulse through my veins, the pull toward the inevitable," he said like he could picture it again.
The vision he had. A vision was linked when a male first felt the bond. It was called the Tether—A gift of Elska, the goddess of love, as a revelation of one’s soulmate.
"It was simple... I could’ve just ignored it like any spineless male would if they didn’t want a mate, ignore it until I felt nothing else. The mate bond would go faint and then silence."
"Then why did you answer it?"
"Simple... I wanted to kill her before you guys did the honor."
Logi stiffened at his words. ’He knew?’
"Yes, Logi. I knew what my ruling council did, the pact you made for my well being."
"You never questioned it."
"Yes, because logically it was the right thing to do. Get rid of a mate who’s a weakness and could have caused my pending doom."
"Then why didn’t you end her when you saw her at that brothel? Rav mentioned you caused a bloodbath and killed the Jarlas. It was the perfect timing... kill the mannfae that Elska, the goddess of love had cursed as your mate."
"Yes..." Kraven said, tracing his finger smoothly around the mouth of the bottle. "It was perfect."
Kraven pictured the moment he killed Bryndor, the Jarla who Isadora was sold to. After that his mate was next, severing the girl’s fate and letting her greet Daudi properly.
It was what she deserved.
"Why didn’t you kill her, Kraven?" Logi asked softly as the pressure in the air shifted, not tight but calm.
"I was curious..." Kraven said with narrowed eyes. "Curious about a bunny who ran from me the moment she set her eyes on me, and then it became a contradiction when she used my sword against me, a stupid thing to do."
’And yet so fascinating,’ he thought internally.
Logi chuckled. "That was when you decided then... that was when you decided to keep her and then aimed to make her not a weakness. You became selfish."
"If only Rav’s as smart as you... I could have avoided not wanting to kill him every minute."
"He’s naive. But you can’t blame him, he told me once he saw Isadora as a sister." Logi paused not wanting to mention Eris’s name but he tested the waters. "She reminds him of Eris."
Kraven’s body taunted and his gaze shifted to Logi. "Did he say that?" freēwēbnovel.com
"Yes, he did..."
Kraven exhaled sharply as he rose to his feet. "There will be a council meeting in a moon time"
"What about?"
"I need to kill something or destroy... or else I’ll pick you as my next pound of flesh."
"Maybe we should push the meeting to tomorrow... just to be safe."
"A moon," Kraven growled before walking away.

It had been a week of endless kitchen duty. But the work was welcomed, Isadora wasn’t the center of attention there and it was a pleasant feeling.
It was much more silent.
Vanya kept her company as they washed tons of plates together and prepared the meals.
It was more fun than Isadora had expected.
During that little time, Isadora had a lot to think about, many things wandering her mind to no end.
Her thoughts kept flying toward Kraven. She hadn’t seen or heard from him for a week.
It could be because of the kitchen duties and how buried she was with work or he was avoiding her.
’You told him to stay away, Isa,’ she thought, hating herself for longing for the impossible.
This was what she wanted, him away from her, proving she wasn’t a fresh body for him.
Proving to Nyssa that her words won’t come true. Proving she wasn’t gullible enough to keep going back to him like a lost puppy.
All these she told herself and yet the thought of him consumed her entire state of mind, any glimpse of silver was a reminder of his eyes.
And now as she lay on her bed, cold and unable to sleep, she thought of him still.
It was unfair. She was pitiful thinking of him when he could be out there warming Nyssa’s bed.
She growled at the mere thought of it, sitting up as her chest heaved as rage burned through her.
Did she feel good too? Did he enjoy her more than he did her? Was he bored with her now?
Nyssa was beautiful, a goddess beauty and she was adored by everyone, and a powerful warrior.
And she? She was just a mannfae and a stray in the court, who didn’t belong.
The thoughts were endless, far more than they’d been in the entire week and she just wanted it to stop.
The strong wind came from the window, causing her teeth to clatter, but the cold was nonexistent. Her mind was colder.
"Are you cold, love?"
