The Reaper's Wicked Obsession-Chapter 141: Just An Excuse
Chapter 141: Just An Excuse
"Vanya?" Rav said, puzzled. He had hoped to see Isadora. "Where’s she?"
The news about what happened at the training ground had already circulated through the court. As per Logi’s agreement... he shouldn’t interfere but his worry got the best of him.
Especially when he heard a particular rumor that Kraven had declared Isadora as Lady Raven.
How did that happen?
It was impossible for someone like Kraven, to blatantly go around throwing titles. Something must have happened and he needed to make sure she was okay and wasn’t hurt.
Vanya felt pressured, she knew Isadora was not in the right state of mind to see anyone. So she decided to tell him off but a voice came behind stopping her advances.
"Rav?"
"Isadora," Rav said, stepping in a hurry.
"What are you doing here?"
"I was worried, I heard what happened."
Isadora looked away. "Nothing happened, my penalty just went public."
’Is she still angry with me?’ Rav thought suddenly desperate to have her eyes concentrated on him again.
She looked cold and distant.
"Isa—"
"Can I ask to get my penalty?"
"What?" Rav blinked confused.
"Kraven disrupted it and I still need my penalty for missing the morning call."
Rav scoffed. "You don’t need to worry about that, Isadora, as Commander I—"
"Yes, as Commander you can give me my penalty."
Rav narrowed his eyes. "Why?"
"Because I deserve it."
"Do you not understand..." Rav paused, disliking the idea of saying it but did nevertheless. "...The position you hold?"
"What position?"
Vanya sighed inaudibly as she ran a hand through her hair.
Rav opened his mouth but no words came off him.
"Well?"
Rav shook his head. "You want a penalty and then you have it," he said defeated, because the look in her eyes told him she would see this through.
That resilient look in those pale ambers was something else. It both amazed and scared him of how far she would go for anything.
"Then you’ve kitchen duty for a moon."
"Kitchen duty? I thought pushing the boulder was—"
"Your Commander says so," he cut her off. "Any penalty is given under the authority of the Commander."
Isadora gulped as she stroked a nod. "Thank you, Rav." She turned on her heels and walked upstairs, the sound of her door slamming shut echoing through the air.
"Is everything okay?" Rav asked, turning to Vanya, demanding an explanation.
"Does it look like it?" Vanya signed. "I think she needs something to take her mind off things. The penalty is the perfect excuse."
Rav nodded in understanding.
"I’ll look after her, you can put me on kitchen duty too... just say I insulted your authority or something."
Rav huffed as a smile found his lips.
"You’re a shitty person. Where were you when Nyssa humiliated her? Taking a shit?"
Rav’s smile faded and Vanya’s only grew wider.
"Fine! Kitchen duty for a moon!"
"Thank you."
Rav walked to the door, but then he paused, the strong desire not to leave found him but he still had a wager to honor.
He turned to Vanya and said. "I leave her in your hands, she gets lost in her head a lot."
"I know."

Logi whistled as he stepped into the Feast Hall, he walked straight to a corner. His whistle increased in tone as he brushed his hands against the wall like he was in search of something.
Then a small compartment opened, the stone shifting to the side.
Grinning he crouched, rubbing his palms together before grabbing one apple from the others he had safely stored away.
He brought it to his nose and took a deep whiff. "Thank the gods for the cold walls, what would I do without you?"
"I could’ve you executed for stealing rations for Wintermoon."
"Almadra!" Logi exclaimed, shooting to his feet, causing the apple to fall off. His erratic eyes searched the empty hall until they landed on Kraven at the head of the table.
’How long have he been there?’
Logi cleared his throat and asked. "What are you doing here?"
Kraven raised the wooden bottle in response. "Care to join me?"
Logi narrowed his eyes at his invitation. "It’s rare for you to ask anyone to join you." He picked the apple from the floor. "You tolerate company"
Kraven laughed. "Of course, Logi knows me too well, how long have we been together?"
"I stopped counting..." Logi rubbed the apple on his jacket. "Two hundred winters, the same count as when the Raven Court was formed."
"Always precise," Kraven remarked, taking a drink from the bottle. "Even though we haven’t found the mountain then, just the three of us; You, me and Rav were the Raven Court. The memories."
"Until Nyssa was recruited."
Kraven licked his lips. "Tell me... did you know Isadora would come find me after you told her about my thirst?"
"She’s your mate and she deserves to know. I did the needful and what happened after was facing her truth," Logi said, walking to the table and taking a seat at the congregation instead of the head table.
"Facing her truth," Kraven murmured. "A truth she regrets... it seems."
"What happened?"
Kraven broke a laugh, shaking his head. "She tried to kill herself today, she would rather die than be in the same room with me. When last night she couldn’t breathe without me. Women."
Logi smirked, relaxing in his seat as he brought his legs up the table. "Talk to me, are you hurt?" He took a bit from his apple.
"Hurt?" Kraven huffed. "I’m fucking furious."
"Yes, you’re but that’s not the only thing, is it?"
Kraven tapped his fingers against the wooden bottle as he spaced out a bit.
Logi was intrigued by this, he’d never seen Kraven like that and it interested him beyond end.
Kraven was not conditioned to feel things aside from his insanity but now as he looked at him, he was swooned.
’In Alda’s name did she tame him already?’ Logi thought with wide eyes.
