The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 93: The chosen fate - I
We had ridden back tirelessly for two entire days. The guards sent by the queen and my sister only took short breaks before they were back and riding horses to my home again. It must have been something very important which is why they were all in a hurry to go back home.
The moment the sun rose we had started riding again today and by the nightfall we had entered my country and the capital. The moment I got down from the horse, Estelle came towards me with her arms held out ready to get me in a hug.
"I missed you, sister, I missed you so much." She crooned and I smiled. It was unlikely for her to show to show emotions and when she did, I loved it.
"I missed you too." I said barely concealing my smile at the affection she showed towards me. "How is everything?" I asked as soon as she let go.
She smiled and held my shoulder, giving it a small squeeze. " You must be tired. Cover your face, we have to get you inside before anyone else knows about this."
I nodded and did as told. The matters were so serious that she could not even discuss it out in the open. I portrayed myself as a servant who followed Estelle to her rooms.
"Now, what?" I took it off and stared at her with anxiety. I wanted to know what is going on as soon as possible because none of this is working in my favour.
She gulped and fidgeted slightly. "Earlier I had received a letter from the queen herself and she had written to me personally because you were not in the best of health. She talked about the Prince’s coronation along with yours as it could be killing two birds with one stone. You you will be married to him next month—"
"Next month?!" I screeched stopping at the word. "Next month is barely two weeks away and that. . .would . . Oh my . . ." I sighed and closed my eyes as my head lowered.
It was too soon.
As a princess who is to be married in another Kingdom it was obvious that she had to spend time learning about the customs and traditions of that Kingdom that she was going to be married in. It meant that at least a week prior I had to enter the kingdom of Astria and learn everything about it.
The next month began two weeks away and I had to go there a week prior which meant that I had no time left.
"This is not fair." I complained with a small sob. It was too soon and I was not ready for it.
"I know." She chirped and I shot her an annoyed look. She was beginning to get on my nerves now.
"What else?" I asked as I sniffed. I was trying to control my sobs.
"Nothing other than this but I think of it as something else. Something more of a ploy by the queen." Estelle took a seat beside me as she looked serious on the matter and I could not help but urge her to continue further.
She nodded, "I think the rumours are true. She does not want to let go of the Crown which is why she is pushing the coronation into the future and making sure that you both are married first. This means that even if she dies as the Queen, her son would be crowned as the next king and probably by the time both of you will have an heir which would mean that The throne is secured and she could rule forever as she wants."
I thought about it and the possibilities were there. If we were not coronated and I did not go there as the bride to the King, I would not be taken as the next Queen but only a princess which meant that unless she was ready to step down I would not be the next queen.
But it did not seem just that. There had to be something underlying here.
"Does she really want to be the queen that bad or is it something else? I asked Estelle. "Because for all we know this could be a plot where she tries to undermine me as much, so that my authority does not exceed hers."
Estelle nodded thoughtfully. "It could be."
But would it not be too obvious? If she wanted to have a plot orchestrated, she must have to take care about everything which meant that I would not be able to tell what she was doing. If I had to think of an alternate situation. What could be the reason to extend the coronation further?
She cleared her throat and I looked at her trying to conceal a smile on her face. It only unnerved me even more.
"What?" I barked at her. She was smiling at me as she knew something more. What now?
"There was some other mention in the letter as well," she bit back her smile, "do you know who is coming to meet you tomorrow?"
I narrowed my eyes at my irritating sister.
She sighed and nodded to herself. "Do you know it took you almost five days to reach?"
I nodded." Yes even though we had been constantly riding it still took us five days. Why?"
She nodded again. "Those five days and two more, which is seven days that I had received the letter from the queen." She told me and I nodded. "Do you understand that?"
Now she spooked me enough. "Estelle, are you going to tell me or not? Stop wasting time!" I snapped and she chuckled.
"Well I do understand that you do not want to take this as a joke." She smiled, "Your Prince is coming tomorrow as told in the letter to take you to the kingdom of Astria to learn their traditions and customs."
"My Prince?" I whispered, Tristan?
She frowned. "Yes, Prince Terrence."
My heart almost stopped when I heard the name. I had forgotten about Prince Terence completely and my mind had been occupied completely by Tristan.
Oh, god.
"When?" I muttered the word out forcefully.
"Tomorrow," Estelle answered with a frown, "I just told you about this Genevieve. What is wrong?"
"Nothing," I answered, shaking my head. "Absolutely, nothing is wrong."
Absolutely nothing was wrong and that was true. Everything was now as it was supposed to be. I was to stay in my kingdom as I always was supposed to and I was to get married now like it was written in my fate.
Meeting Tristan and falling in love with him was a luxury that was given to me for perhaps any good deed that I might have done and which had pleased the gods.
Now I was to return to the path that I was given to follow.

I did not sleep the entire night or whatever was left fit. When the first slide of the sun broke I got up from my bed even before Marilyn came to my room or perhaps even before she woke up.
It has been quite a while since I had watched the sunrise from my own bedroom. It was as beautiful as it ever was and I am truly missed the beauty of it.
Perhaps one day. . . .
"Goo—oh! You are already awake!" Marylin gasped and then smiled as she came my way with a glass of water. "When I went downstairs the kitchen helpers were delighted to know that you were fine now and I was able to get out of the rooms without the fear of contagiousness."
"Were they now?" I took it from her and drank some of it.
"Hu huh," she nodded enthusiastically, as if truly happy that we were back now. "They are even preparing your favourite dishes for you for breakfast."
I scoffed, "the breakfast would contain my favourite dishes and dinner and lunch would have whatever the prince wants." I had never considered the prince to be bitter but after the whole adventure I considered him to be arrogant like Prince Lysar was.
Perhaps he might be slightly better but what could I tell now from the letters that I have to read written by him.
"Well. . ." She uttered, not knowing what to say.
"Get on with the day, Merilyn." I told her, "The prince would be here by noon."
The moment I got dressed and ready for the day I stepped out of my room only to be greeted by the Palace ready to receive the prince. Everything was being readied for him to view.
It seemed that we were not ready to be saved as someone that was any less than his country. Everyone was dressed in their best and that work including the servants.
I want to know what made them think that when he would come here, he would have noticed the houses that are barely put together outside the capital and what would he think of us then?
How the people looked made us see in the eyes of others.
"Ah! My daughter!" I heard my father before I saw him. I walked towards him bowing my head respectfully looking at the country and immediately put me in a hug. He, too, was dressed in the best of clothes.
"I hope you are better now. You must be there to receive the prince." He said with a wide smile on his face but I knew it was a command.
"Yes father." I spoke softly like a princess would.
"He’s here!" The crier yelled. "The prince has arrived."
I felt my heart thud and the smile vanish from my face.
"Come on, child." My father pushed me forward. We all descended from the stairs and moved towards the entrance of the palace to wear the prince as he arrived with the rest of his guards and wagons full of gifts.
I gulped when I saw him on the top of the horse. His facial expressions slightly matched the man I had fallen for. His eyes seemed to be of the same shape and so did his nose. Only his jaw line deferred...
I blinked away when our eyes met. What was I doing?
