The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 91: A call to home - I
Reaching to the end, Merilyn made sure to give the forces a way to the stable that we had taken them from. By the time she was done I was very so bad and she took her spot beside me and Lara went to her own room through the window.
Everything was fine now and slipped into a deep sleep.
**********
"Good morning," I heard Marylin even before I could even open my eyes. Perhaps the shift in my position told her that I was awake already. "Here is your medicine."
Now that she said it, I felt the smearing pain come. I let out his hand and opened my eyes, seeing the bowl of medicine in her outstretched and I took it and gulped it down and ready to get away from the pain.
"Come now for breakfast. The healer says she will have to give you the same portion from last night once more to have you heal."
I nodded and she helped me stand up. After last night’s escapade I had managed to get some rest but it was not enough for my healing body. The healer was right as I had lost quite a bit of blood I was still expected to rest and heal myself for which I still had to eat breakfast. Perhaps which is why there was a whole hearty breakfast laid out in front of me.
" Did the healer arrange for it?" I asked Marilyn because I did not want a healer to spend out of her pocket.
"No," she shook her head, "The queen sent it."
Of course, she did.
I began eating but then remembered something and turned to Marilyn immediately. "Where is Lara? Why has she not come to breakfast yet?" Somehow I understood that Lara was my responsibility as the accident had taken place for both of us and she was younger than I was. Also that her brother had also ended up in a situation because of me did not help.
Her brother, I sighed.
"I do not know that. . . ." Merilyn sighed and looked into the direction of her door. "I must go and wake her up then."
"Who? The other girl?" The healer came in and asked immediately as she took a seat in front of us. "Her aunt came and took her away for today. I did give the medicines and they paid for her visit."
Ah, I nodded in understanding as they must have talked about it yesterday and her mother must have decided to bring her out.
"Ahem," The helix cleared her throat and it was obvious that she wanted her attention. Keeping my cutlery down I gave her all of it. "After the messenger and servants dropped off the food, the queen has requested you back at the palace. I think you will be taken care of there now."
That dimmed my mood immediately. The last thing I wanted was to take any more tension and go back to where the queen and the second crown Prince were. It was going to suffocate me with more.
After breakfast the healer gave me the same medicine again and this time instead of having it exchanged like last night I had decided to take it. It meant that I would be going back to the palace in the evening after I had woken up.
I took it with my hands from my bedside table and was ready to gulp it down when I heard a knock.
"Could you mind waiting for a moment or two?" I heard the familiar voice again and I stood up immediately. " I know that medicine as the healer has told me and I would like to talk to you while you are still conscious and not half asleep."
" Your highness," I stood up and did a small curtesy. " To be honest I was not expecting you here."
He nodded and stepped into the room. I mean just look back when I was standing and she was ready to step in as the Chaperone but the prince closed the door in her face.
"What was that?" I asked immediately. What behaviour?!
He sighed and stepped out to the back gardens. "Sit with me." He said as he sat down at the porch. "I would like to talk to you."
"Well it must be nice to say that to me but I do not want to talk to you." I said out loud and he glanced at me before sighing.
" I was the one who was asked to bring you back to the palace and you won’t be going anywhere until I am finished talking."
I snorted and almost laughed at his expressions. It was as if in front of him a buffalo had given birth to an elephant. "Perhaps you would like to think of it this way. This behaviour only stops me from accepting that proposal which you might send."
He laughed and I finally joined him but did not sit next to him at the porch. Instead I took a seat at the swing made of wood.
" I do understand that. however your sister and father would be interested in the proposal more and like you said you would not have a chance to refute it," he looked at me, "or as you say, you won’t have the power to refuse it."
Ah, some mother and son were both gossip mongers. What a wonderful pair.
"Estelle would ask for my choice."
"Estelle would wants to become the Queen, if you want said she will not make the mistake of asking you." He countered immediately rendering me speechless.
Now, I know why both of them were so confident. Part of them knew that they would agree to it and Estelle would make sure that father would agree to it and it was obvious that they had formed an alliance for Estelle to make it to the throne.
How clever was it that they knew I would be cornered as I would still want to become the queen and the lineage of my mother to move forward.
"You have been living in the palace for a long time and your lady in waiting message had some gossip, rumours," he said and my attention was brought back to him, "he must have heard about the condition my brother is in."
Not from the palace maids I had heard it from the officials themselves.
I nodded.
He looked into my eyes, "I might be the next king."
When he looked at me I saw an expression in those eyes that I never thought I would see. "You realise that you are not ready for it." Soft wind blew and his expressions softened as well.
" No, I am not." He agreed.
"Princess!" Merilyn barged in and had me jump in fear. What had happened?
"We need to leave! The Messengers are here! Princess Estelle sent this for you." She handed me a letter and I took it from her immediately because one look at her and I understood that this was a grave matter.
