Chapter 74: The Cloaked man - III

Conrad did not like what I said. From where I was standing and understood it seemed like something was holding Conrad back from answering make the way he truly wanted to. Open his mouth once but close the short again. Probably wondering what would be the correct thing to say here.

"Please, your highness," he grated out, "We must take the man out of hair safely because that is what you have asked me to do. I am to complete the task and return."

"No," I shook my head, "Tell me what I want to know."

He tightened his jaw and looked away for a second before returning to me. He opened his mouth to say something exhausted narrowed his eyes and looked above us.

A thunder of footsteps was heard and my heart stilled at that.

"That," Conrad pointed his finger above us gleefully, "would be the night guard." He smiled. "Only have a few moments before they make it to the Courtyard and escaping then would be mighty difficult. So the choice is yours do you want to go now without any problems or do you want to have information that you can do nothing with?"

The night guard would be a problem. After petrol in the castle and the grounds, the soldiers would end up taking a break which would mean that they would remain in the Courtyard why is the other night guard performed its duties. Which meant that the time we needed to escape would be narrowed down to the slimmest chances.

Not at all favorable.

"Shall we?" He raised an eyebrow and turn around and started walking ahead.

"I think we should go," Merylin whispered, looking wary about the entire situation herself. "The worst happening hair princess the royal guard catching us or us not reaching back to our rooms in time."

I gulped and glanced at the man who had no fear of walking alone in the dark hallway. I nodded to her. This was the only option I had.

Waking into the darkness, like a blind person only to someone I would never meet and by whose family I would be hated forever.

I followed him with Merilyn now behind me. She was more scared than I was.

After walking for a long time in a straight hallway came the stairs which told me immediately that now we were almost on our way out. I could finally breathe a sigh of relief because now Tristan could be treated but not before making sure that the royal guards are not able to spot us.

"Now, I am going to open a door of this passage which would lead us to the outer gardens." He grunted as we heard the squelching of metal.

He was pulling a gate because as soon as it wasted and opened it came in the moonlight.

"Gardens?" Merylin stood up on her toes and tried to pick past the huge man’s frame. "Does that mean we do not need to go to the courtyard?"

"No, my lady," he answered her respectfully as he did to me. "However royal gardens cover a lot of lands which can be quite a maze for all of us to solve. Luckily, for you, I know which way to go."

"Ye,s because you happen to know everything," I muttered under my breath as I watched the man walked out and into the open. He did not stop indirectly walked to the denser area of trees.

"Do I need to tell you where we are going to meet with his uncle or do you know that you?" I taunted as I walked from behind.

"I do, your highness, however, I am grateful for the offer of help."

Merilyn stifled her laughter.

I tugged on her hair and she started walking straight without laughing anymore.

My feet were painting because we had walked to create test tense. Earlier I have to walk from the church to the palace and now I was walking through the huge garden. My feet were screaming in pain.

"Have you thought of the healer?" He said in a lot you want voice and I realize that somehow I had managed to walk beside him and Marilyn was walking behind us with the light of the lamp dimmed.

"What healer?" I frowned.

He cast me a glance and then concentrated looking forward. "I meant the healer that you met today. The boy has shown natural and miraculous healing in a day. What do you think about it?"

"First of all, I am tired of asking you this question on how do you know what of this?" I turned to him and sighed, "but since you already know I will tell you this, I have no thought about that yet. Maybe tomorrow when Tristan is safe and sound I will concentrate on the matter at hand."

He nodded. "I assure you he will reach his destination safe and sound. For the boy, I have any advice for you,"

He did not complete his sentence and left hanging which meant that he was probably asking for my permission which I found to be comical here. "You want my permission when in a very thank you without my permission in the first place?"

He sighed. "Well, what can I say" he shrugged, "you do not know a lot of things, and when you do everything will fall into place accordingly. Until then remember that you have done a favor of life on the boy and the life he has now he owes it to you."

I frowned and did not wait to show him my displeasure regarding the words he just said. "I saved him from being sold at the market. I have no intentions to sell him back to someone or to own him as a slave."

He smiled and for the first time, I knew that it was genuine not of amusement or hidden annoyance. "You will know what to do. There stands the man," he pointed in front of us to a man with a cart and horses, "there is uncle Dawson."
