The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 72: The cloaked man - I
My fists clenched as I gulped at the tensions rising within the room. Someone was coming and the loud footsteps were being heard nearing us. Merilyn was panicking and so was I. Tristan had still not replied and now I was a bit thankful for it.
"What now?" Merilyn mouthed to me and I shook my head having no idea what to do about it myself. I bit my lip and my hands fisted the sides of the skirts as the man neared.
From where we stood, Merilyn was the one he would see first which gave me an idea. I knew I had seen something in from the moment I had entered tonight, it had to be here.
The footsteps neared and were almost outside the cell. "Ah, you awake, boy? The prince wants to take off some heat, you would be perfect for it." He grinned as he came into our line of sight and his eyes image provide into when he took in Merilyn who was breathing heavily at the site of the men and almost in tears.
I had completely hidden by now in doubt because I have been stepping back.
"Well, well, well," the man sang and entered the kitchen, "Quite a love story, ain’t it?" He sneered.
"Pl-ple. . ." She hiccupped. Even Merilyn have seen the worst of soldiers she had never encountered a situation where she was in danger because as my lady in waiting she was immune to all the advances unless they are officially agreed upon by me.
"Hmm," he hummed loudly and appeared to be thinking as he came inside the cell and I went to pick it up, very slowly without making the slightest bit of noise.
Merilyn gasped and stumbled back as the man wears in his advances which he did not agree and I stepped closer to the man slowly.
"There, there," he cooed, "I’m just as lovable too." He grinned with rotten teeth, "More powerful too, eh? Don’t women like that?"
"No!" I hissed and raised the pot of metal above my head and slammed it down against his. "We don’t!" I hit him again with all my might until he did not pass out and I did not see something shiny flowing out of his head.
"Oh my god!" Marilyn whispered as placed a hand on her chest to calm herself down. "Princess." She looked at me in shock.
"What?!" I snapped at her. "How dare you think that I would abandon you out of all people!"
She shook her head, slowly as she was still gathering her witts. "But my priority is you you should be saved first." She whispered and turned around to lean against the wall. "It was so scary. The man was horrifying!"
"I know," I whispered back and went back to Tristan. "We have to pick him up. How?" I turned to her who was looking at me.
She bit her lip nervously and glanced around. "We need to do it click quickly because he said the prince needed him which means that he would be coming as well." He looked at me, her chest heaved. "Soon."
Good lord, I felt cursing like a sailor because of what was happening. How are we supposed to carry a grown man out of the present then we could not even get a cart here?!
Still, I did not want to lose hope which is why I looked around the room hoping to find something that could help us move this man out. "Wait here," I told Marilyn and moved out to find something. Hopefully, there could be something in the dungeon hallways.
Bade was not. With the help of the latter, I had managed to look around in every corner where as far as I could go given that I still have to give the cell in my site.
"Nothing, there’s nothing here!" I hissed and gripped my hair. There was nothing in the prison hallway it was all barren and empty. So much so that I could not even find a small stone. All the stories were true about this countries imprisonment tortures. They did not give any kind of pleasure to the prisoner by which he could even think of killing himself before meeting his wretched fate.
I stepped back before turning around when I heard a clank and stiffened immediately soon after followed the ringtone of a small bell.
A bell? I frowned. How was the bell supposed to be here when I could not even find a small pebble always?!
I turned around and saw a family looking BEL with the small wooden handle on it for a few steps away from me which had me gasp.
It was no ordinary bell but the bell that that man had given me in the royal graveyard the night I had sneaked out to meet my mother.
I wanted to pick it up but I was hesitant. There was only some kind of witchcraft dark magic performed in this BEL which was why it was after changing its places. First I had left it in the graveyard itself after which it had magically appeared in my room and now it was right in front of me in another country and the lowest level of the castle.
It was no coincidence or even a joke.
I ahead of it but it I felt like it was calling me back because when I love that it I immediately remembered the words that men had told me. He could do me a favour he said no matter what it was he would do it for me and right now a favour was what I need it the most.
I gulped and picked it up. Who knew what does it cost me but all I knew was our saving the life of a man that I had affections for an hour going to meet again. Even if his family and he did not end up hating me at least I will not be responsible for his death but his freedom.
I sighed and swing it back and forth. It jingled and I held my breath in. I don’t know what I was waiting for may appear in the air or perhaps . . .just. . .
I sighed and looked down. It was a foolish idea, to begin with. How was a man supposed to appear out of nowhere in the dungeons if he was not following us which I had made sure of?
I thinned my lips and turned to walk into the cell, preparing myself to tell Marilyn that we will have to carry the men out on our backs.
"My name is Konrad and I thank you for choosing my service." I jumped up in fright when I heard a confident voice behind me. I immediately turned and there he stood from the cloaked man.
"You," I said in shock but then my gaze immediately turned accusing. "How did you appear in the dungeons of another country?!"
He smiled as if my line of questioning did nothing but amused him. "That your highness, I believe is my secret." He then turned serious and make me a lot more wary of him than needed. "Now, I believe I have to carry a man out. If you would excuse me."
I immediately stepped away and he walked past me and into the cell. I followed him Two steps behind and Marilyn looked at me and shop but my calm expression told her that it was alright. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
Marilyn and I watched with anxious eyes full of alert as the man picked Tristan up and placed him on his back carefully still like a pack of potatoes Tristan swan the back and forth as the men moved out of the cell. He picked Tristan up with ease so much so that it made me wonder if it did this for a living.
"Konrad," I hurriedly whispered before he could step out of the cell. "Where are you taking him?"
He glanced back at me. "Every dungeon has different ways out, one where from everyone enters and one that only Royal people of the family no so that is there is a reason they know what to do." He glanced at us again, "Let us hurry now. You have to go back as when the prince notice is this man missing you are going to be the first person he will check upon."
I gulped and followed him out as he had already started to make his way out. Conrad was not joking when he said that he knew a way out which was not from where we had entered passage which did not have any source of light because of which Marilyn which was walking in between of us had to increase the lanterns fire.
"How did you appear here? Are you truly a Jain who comes from shaking a bell?" My words are come out with great strength and courage. At this moment my heart was pounding so loudly because I had a lot of things that could go wrong.
He scoffed. "You do not need to know that. Trust me it is of no use to you. What you should remember, however, is that one day you will have to return the favour to me."
