Chapter 58: Huge Accusations - III

Once again, we had reached the same topic conversation, and just like I had done previously, I was going to shake him off this topic as well.

"You keep throwing such accusations at me. Are you saying that I am no less than a degrading whore?" I raised an eyebrow as I saw him have a fleeting moment of panic. "why is it that I am the only one who has been accused of having feelings for another when it is he who sleeps with different women every night!" I spat as I knew that it was correct. "I am expected to be a virgin, to never have been kissed by another man to be eligible to marry one, and here, on the other hand, you can receive as many as women you want in your bed every night and expect your wife to sleep in the same one!"

He shook his head as if had this conversation already numerous times and he knew that it was heading to. "You can do whatever you want but a certain difference is there always prevail between men and women and there is nothing we can do anything about."

"Hah!" I pointed my finger at him. "You cannot do anything about this? You are the prince’s, the so-called prince, that says he can do anything he wants! Did you not say that you wanted to go to war because he just wanted to marry me, someone, just beautiful?"

He chuckled, the smile he now had on his lips was mocking me. "Yes, a very beautiful princess who has beauty along with brains. For someone like me, it is truly gifted as you are not someone who cares about what she wears and how often she does, you are someone who cares about the people that make you the royalty." He repeated my words making me narrow my eyes at him. "I love that about you and that makes you truly different from all those women I have ever known."

Love, he said because of which I said nothing anymore because I did not want to instigate a conversation with him which will only provide him with more feelings that I did not want him to have for me. I have responsibilities over my shoulders and he was no one for me to throw them off.

"We should leave," I said instead, my face remaining passive. "I do not have long for this and I do not wish to take part in such conversations that have no meaning," I confessed as I turned around to walk to the carriage. "Also if I must inform you which I have done time and again, I do not have long before I would have to return and I want to help you as much as I can."

He nodded while staring at me, his eyes never left my face, and I wondered if he was imprinting my face into his mind because he knew that I was someone who could never be free until unless something happened to the Prince of astria before our wedding.

"Let us go then." He nodded eventually and allowed me to enter the carriage first with his help which was a genuine gesture.

Once I was in a carriage alone with him and this time, I was not as comfortable as I was before, and not to mention this was nowhere near how comfortable I felt in a carriage with Tristan. Who had been manner and a gentleman enough to said in front of me rather than beside me and had maintained a respectful distance? 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

Yes, he was someone I had given my heart to and no one else other than me needed to know that. This reality was not reaching anywhere anytime soon.

"You do not have feelings for Tristan as you have never admitted those in front of me as I have time and again repeated the questions I have." He said again making me sigh. He would never let go of that, would he?

But I have to let go of my feelings in front of the prince because the longer I held onto the user try to entangle me in his trap. "Yes, I do not have any feelings for the merchant. Rather admiration for the work he has done for the people you live with." There you go, a taunt for you too.

He nodded and bit back a smile. "No matter how someone knows someone else, those are the connections are top of that people often possess with each other one cannot be given classified information that belongs to the councilmen of the king’s court. I hope you know that." He looked at me when he said the last line and I nodded for him to confirm that I was listening and also I knew that one was not supposed to have that information.

"Then you must also know that the one who possesses such information is always known as a traitor and is guilty even before his trial," my head snapped into his direction immediately as he said and stepped into my eyes while doing so, "Because possesses the information he was never supposed to have in the first place and that will always put him in the wrongs corner."

"That no longer happens!" I rebuked, glaring at him. "Information can be received in many ways but that does not make one a traitor. For all you know, he received them from someone else who was!"

"Could be, yes." He agreed. "But for a country like mine one cannot be too cautious which is why I have to pay special attention to those who possess information which is not supposed to be in their hands." His smile vanished as he next words but I could still make out the hidden smile he had and the amusement that danced in his eyes. "Which is why I have to take your beloved, oh no my mistake," he shook his head, "The merchant Tristan had been taken as a prisoner. He has been accused of treason and I don’t think that there is anything in the world that would prove his innocence or have him walk out of the jail of Lethoris."
