Chapter 41: The Palace of Lethoris - I

I scoffed silently. I remembered something from the training that I had once secretly watched. I raised my hand foward and brought it back quickly elbowing The Prince in the stomach making him take a few steps back in pain.

I turned around and glared at the prince. "I took you for a prince that is arrogant and short-tempered but you have proved yourself to be much worse than what I thought of you. The royal family of Lethoris kidnapping women all over the world, what a well-known rumour which now has been proved right in front of my eyes."

"Mind that tongue!" He roared making me jump as his eyes raged in anger. "I will not have a princess of a dying country tell me what to do and what are the sayings of my country. If I want, I can have a fraction of my army capture the whole Kingdom of yours!"

The insult made me look away. We were not good enough and I knew it. He threw that very conveniently in my face.

When I looked at him again I realised that this was going to take us nowhere. Both of us were being arrogant and hard-headed to understand what they are the opposite wanted and in this case, I was supposed to make sure that I knew why this man had abducted me. After all, he was an arrogant and short-tempered man who could not even think twice before raising a knife to someone’s throat.

"Prince Lysar," instead of shrieking as I had done previously, I spoke in a calm and collected voice that I always talked with. "I do not understand your need to abduct me in the middle of nowhere by five well-built men who could have taken advantage of me without your knowledge and could have even killed me in the entire process." My eyes burned slighty with tears as the harsh truth.

His expressions did not change. "My men know better than that. They know that if they ever do something that is beyond the command given, their head would be cut off from the body within moments."

I smiled in mockery, shaking my head as I replied, "I thought very highly of you too and look at where we are. Men cannot be assured of about anything." I shook my head. "Kindly tell me the reason why you have had me brought here, forcefully so. After that, please send me back to the end that you had brought me from."

He closed his eyes and sighed in resignation. I assumed his demeanour changed to something calm but this fellow made me think uncertain for him.

I was weary of his actions now. From having me abducted, he had also raised a knife to my throat which only made me think that he was unreliable and could do anything in the spur of the moment.

Which meant that I always had to be weary of him and I could never trust him fully. For a fleeting moment, silver eyes flashed into my mind and I immediately compared him to the man in front of me. I was alone in a carriage with him for days but not a moment had passed where he had ever shown behaviour where I could conclude to not trust him for the best. Tristan had always maintained a good amount of distance in between us in a small carriage and he had never tried to touch me or even start a conversation where I did not want to participate.

I gulped as I watched him pace around the chambers making me realise that I was alone with one man in them.

Scandalous for someone who was to be married.

"You did not come for me?" He pointed at himself.

"What?!" My brows shot up faster than an arrow. "What do you mean by those words?!" I was beyond shocked at his thinking.

He blinked back in shock as well. "I saw you at the port. You did not travel in your royal carriage and were without any permission and it led me to believe that you have come here to meet me."

How in the world could one man be so self-centred to have a woman abducted because he thought that she had come to meet him?

"No," I spoke loud and clear with certainty as much as I could. My expressions must have been comical because I was shocked, disgusted and angry in one. "I did not come to meet with you and in fact, I did not even have any intention regarding you when I entered the country, without permission, yes."

He blinked and stepped back before turning around and pacing the room. "What?" He said without looking at him. "But I am sure that I made an impression on you."

Ah, "I am sure you did. But it was the one that I did not like." I told him frankly and he took a double look at me because of it.

He stopped and bridged the gap between us, leaving only a mere step in between. "If you did not come to meet with me what is it that you have come here for? Without permission entering any country as a Royal will get you in big trouble, princess. So much so that you may be branded as a traitor to this country or your own."

I nodded in earnest. "Yes, I am aware of that," I told him in all seriousness. "But that did not deter me from coming here for myself and finding out for myself if the rumours about the wolf and the abductions were true or not."

He stopped and stared at me. I for a moment seat in as well before becoming self-conscious in taking a step back.

"You?" He questioned and then scoffed. "A princess who has barely left the castle walls, the one who has been seen by no one wants to find out about its abductions and wolves?" He gave out a loud laugh.

My cheeks burned and I gasped at his words. "Prince Lysar, mind the words. I can very much help and investigate the matters like any other."

He smiled and stepped closer as mirth danced in those eyes. Well, then I must give you a room to sleep in as from tomorrow, you will help me." He smiled and I narrowed my eyes at him. His words held a hidden meaning.
