Chapter 319: The tale of his parents - I

Marilyn had been kind enough to pour each a cup of tea, blood for them and milk for me before settling down beside me on the ground.

"What is it that you want to talk about?" I asked Chiara. "Also, are you okay with everyone listening to it?" Because I was sure that someone was standing outside the doors of my bedroom.

Tristan had not bothered leaving me unguarded before, so after my escape it was going to be hard pass for him to do,

"Ah, that." She clicked her tongue. "I had a sage burnt here. Don’t worry." she answered that only intrigued me more.

"What?" What sage was she talking about?

"I will tell you about that later." Chaira waved off my concerns Like they were nothing. "I have other pressing matters that I need to discuss with you."

"Like what?"

Chiara took a sip of a tea before placing the cup along with the saucer on the table. The look on her face was so severe that it was like she wanted to discuss the death of someone close to her.

"I want to discuss something with you that I do not think my nephew will." She began. "it is the story of his parents."

"He briefly mentioned them.." I informed her before anything. " but I do not think he told me any of the major details about it."

He had told me, whatever he had been comfortable with me before, very reluctantly and I have not pressed on the issue considering that he was telling me about their passing.

"He couldn’t have possibly done so. I don’t think my dear nephew has the heart to talk about the demise of his parents." Chiara, for once, had a sad expression on her face. Helplessness was also there and I was shocked to see that.

"King Aurther was the father of Tristan."

King Aurth— I gasped and so did Marilyn. We both remembered, at the same time, who King Arthur was.

There was only one king Aurther that we knew of and there was no way that we could have mistaken it.

"You mean—"

"Yes," Chiara confirmed. She sipped her tea, now only holding the cup.

"—husband of Queen Anastasia?" Merilyn whispered. "But—"

"allow me." Chiara interrupted her.

After taking a few moments to herself, Chiara finally opened up. "The king found my sister while hunting. He felt the connection of the beloved, the bond, even though he was human."

"It did not take him a long time to come back and my sister was waiting for him. So it began, their affair behind the back of the queen who saw that her husband was going hunting frequently just for fun." She scoffed

"I never agreed with the way they conducted it. He could have made my sister his second queen, someone of official status but now, he always came to meet her in the darkness of the night or in the shadow of lies."

She took a few seconds to herself before continuing, "My sister came to be with Tristan. That was when my brother strengthened his resolve about the king and my sister’s relationship. It was whether he left his current queen or he left my sister."

So Dominick did not want his sister to have a child out of marriage. That was completely understood.

"However," a tear of blood escaped down her cheek, " unfortunately, the Queen had found out about the affair. Through someone or by herself, I do not know. But she did.."

"She.." chiara sniffed, holding in the cries, "My sister had just delivered the baby. She was at her weakest when she commanded her men to attack them, killing the king and my sister before burning them alive."

"And Tristan?" What about him?

"I had him." Chiara glanced at him. "He was the only one I could get out in time before my family arrived. Since the king was dead, my sister could not get over the grief and she passed away with him in the fire."

Dear lord..

"Queen Anastasia did that?" Merilyn whispered. "She killed the parents of the current king?"

"She did." Chiara nodded sullenly, "and she escaped too."

I gasped. "What?"

Chiara confirmed, "It happened to be the night every vampire was asleep. That night you mixed something with our drinks."

Dear Lords, not only had I done something that was going to cost everyone their lives, I had also aided the queen in running away.

I had aided someone who had been responsible for telling Tristan’s parents.

"I did not know that she would use the opportunity to escape." I whispered to her. " If I did, I would have never done it."

"You never had the intention. You never knew where she was in the first place which is why no one has blamed you for it. She had someone working here." Chiara revealed. "Who it was, we know and we are dealing with it."

That was good. Something was good.

"Why are you telling us all of this?" Merelyn asked after some time. "Why was it important for us to know about his highness’s parents?"

Chiara’s eyes cut her mine. "You did not eat to know any of this. She did."

"Because Arthur refused to put Anastacia in her place, he failed to give my sister the protection she needed. Something she should have been given. The reason I am telling you this is because Tristan will not repeat the mistakes of his father."

"He will not let anyone come in between the two of you. He is going to eliminate every thread that comes to your life and I want you to be prepared for that, Genevive."

She sighed, her shoulders sagging. "running away from that has done you nothing. He is going to be straight with you, it’s going to be hard for you to leave his eyesight from now on."

Merilyn looked at me and we shared a look. What could be the worst thing to happen now?
