The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 307: The King is back- IV
Cian disappeared from my sight as he went inside the house making my insides churn with worry.
"Why do you have to do this?" I asked Tristan. "He has barely healed from what was done to him. You have to do more damage?"
He hummed a tune, something I had never heard before but effectively ignored me. he continued to come as his eyes remained on the door before he closed them and slowly stretched his lips into a smile.
"He is not here," Cian spoke as the first thing when he came out of the house in a voice void of his usual annoyance, "He’s not in the house. I checked."
"I heard." Tristan directly opened his eyes before beckoning Cian closer. "Hold on to the princess and do not let her go anywhere. I will be coming back."
Again, in the blink of an eye he vanished and I was left with the second son of Sir Walter.
"Cian," I hissed and grabbed onto his arm, "you cannot let him take the prince! He will die!"
Cian’s eyes moved to stare at me but he did not say anything. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
"Are you listening to me?" I shook him, "he will kill the prince! Are you willing to let another human being die when you can actually do something about it?"
Cian, Once again, did not reply and continued to stare at me as he was bothered in the least about all of this. In fact, it was then I noticed that his entire attention was focused on me.
"Hey?" I tried, "do you know how handsome you are?" Given how the man was always annoyed or arrogant, he should have taken the bed but not even an inch of his face moved.
"Cian? Are you there?" I love it my volume, trying to keep the conversation between us before taking a step back to look—
His hand shot out and grabbed my elbow, "Don’t move." He said, keeping his eyes on me as well as maintaining his grip over my elbow.
Was he? Was he still under the compulsion even though Tristan was no longer here?
"Thank you, Cian." I jumped when I heard Tristan right by the porch of the house. Over his shoulder was the prince, previously bandaged and now sweaty.
Tristan dropped the prince over the porch not minding if his back met with the wooden stairs. " Bring him to the palace, you know your way there. The gods will handle the rest and you will be paid for it." He patted the shoulder Of Sir Walter’s son before moving towards me.
Cian immediately got to work which I noticed with a glance thrown towards him.
Tristan made his way to me and I stepped back before he shook his head very lightly in an effort to stop me. "Do not bother running, Genevive. You will only end up tiring yourself."
My lips trembled and with shaking limbs, I tried to make a distance between us as he continued to walk towards me.
"What... does this really need to be done, Tristan? You know what I did, you know why I did it then why are you making such a big deal out of this? Those people needed to be helped and I helped them because I had the opportunity!"
"Why did that opportunity mean going against me? You Could have come to talk about it with me, and we would have solved it together."
I scoffed, "are you telling me that you were not already aware of what was going on in the palace? Some king you are, Tristan! You wanted me to come to you when you should have been aware of all of this in the first place. What did you think I assumed when I saw all of this happening from the beginning of your reign and you doing nothing about it?!"
"I assumed that you already knew and were doing nothing about it!" I screamed at his face. By now I could feel the tears coming down my cheeks and causing me a slight need to itch them away.
Just as my feet continued to take me back, Tristan continued to come towards me. It was like a cat and mouse game. The further I went, the closer he came.
"Don’t do it, Tristan." I beg at this point. "I don’t want to go with you. I don’t want to go back!"
Just when I blinked my eyes to let another pair of tears fall, and opened them I found him right in front of me causing me to jump and take a step back.
"I have waited almost a year to let you get used to the fact that you have feelings for someone like me. You have seen me in my human nature and you have seen me in my vampire life, and you love me in post, Genevieve. The only thing that you are not ready to accept is your love for me which is already there and something I have made you realise time again."
He took a step into my space and this time I felt like my feet forgot to move.
His eyes softened as he said, "I understand that you are scared, but I have been more than patient to let you know that I will never do anything that would harm you in the slightest. All I have ever done is treat you with love and utmost care even if it meant going against my family, those who made sure I lived after being beaten to the age of that. I cannot do it any more, Genevive."
He stepped back and his eyes hardened like they had been before. "I refuse to fight my instincts anymore. I refuse to stand against my family anymore."
"But that’s not fair," I sniffed as I continued to cry out the words, "you have all the power." And I had absolutely nothing in my hands.
Tristan stepped forward and touched my jaw very gently. "and that is something that you unfortunately will have to make peace with."
He smiled, it almost seemed like he was doing it out of sadness. "I am always going to be the powerful one here when it comes to you standing against me. If you choose to stand with me, Genevieve, you will be the most powerful woman in the world."
I licked my lips before shaking my head but his barely there grip tightened slightly yet not enough to hurt me.
His eyes held mine prisoner, "The choice is yours, Geneveie, and for once think about it because you are not great at making good choices."
