The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 292: The prince - I
The next morning, I assisted Sir Walter in changing the bandages of the friends. That was only for the upper half of the body, for the lower house I went out and sawyer replaced me.
Tristan has definitely caused a lot of damage to the prince. It was like he had been tweeting the prints like his punching bag, taking out his anger whenever he wanted to.
But I have not known him to be someone like that. If anything, he was someone who can always appear to be calm and collected.
"When do you think he will wake up?" I asked Sir Walter.
"I have no clue," He answered. "The physician told me that we have been giving him quite strong herbs to subdue his pain. So he might have woken up sometimes and we might not be even aware of it."
"should someone stay with him then?"
Sir Walter received his lips a little and looked down before concluding his thoughts and nodding, "I can have one of the boys stay with him. During the day, since we are all awake we would be able to hear in case he wakes up."
I nodded, agreeing with him. Until now, I had not heard a word from his room meaning that the prince had not woken yet and even if he had, it maybe only for a moment before he passed into his sleep again.
"How are we supposed to escape this kingdom if he continues to lay unconscious?" I relayed my concerns to Sir Walter. "The longer we stay here, the more likely we are to be found out."
"I understand your concerns. However, we cannot take him with us because borders are being checked now. Anyone harmed, injured in any way or being detained in case vampires have harmed him."
"What?" 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
"Yes," he confirmed. The moment I came to know about it, I changed the plan to waiting here until the prince was healthy enough to travel and pass the test to resist blood."
"resisting blood?!" I shrieked before lowering my voice. "no, so Walter. There is no way that he was stunned."
He shook his head. "I am afraid we would have to keep an eye out until we know for sure. No one knows how a human is turned into a vampire. No one knows if the process is slow enough to take weeks or quick enough to be completed at night. Forgive me, but we have to be alert."
Shaking my head, I took a step in his direction. "There is no way he could be turned. Tristan hated him!"
"hated him enough to make him one of them?" He countered, shutting me up effectively.
I looked away at the body of the prince that was inside the blankets.
"I do not know what kind of friendship you share with the prince but I appreciate you wanting to help him. What I am not going to stand for, is any of us being sacrificed in the name of a prince that would have never done the same for us."
I heard him come closer and his hand landed on my head, he patted it twice before keeping it there. "Had your father kept me in the service of the royal crown, I would have made sure that all three of you, the daughters of the king and queen, were safe and sound. I could no longer do it when he made me resign but now that you are in my care, I am going to make sure that nothing happens to you."
I felt my eyes burn and a familiar feeling of tears gathering in them made me blink repeatedly to get rid of them.
"You are a kind and good soul, Genevive. But that also means that sometimes, like your mother, you get food because of it." He chuckled, "which is why I quite honestly thanked the gods for sending your eldest sister. She was a tough one to get through."
I smiled at the mention of my eldest sister. More than half of the people hated her when they came across her, but when they understood where she was coming from which was quite difficult, everyone fell in line.
"Yes," I smiled, "Estelle. I Wonder what must be going on with her. We had a plan going on before all of this." Making my sister the Queen but for me was a wish I wanted to be granted at no matter what cost. However, that was just a dream now.
"Care to tell me?" Sir Walter asked as he moved towards the bed and took a seat at the end of it, away from the feet of the prince.
I huffed a laugh. " It is nothing new in the game of Royal politics. Change sides or get killed. Most of them were in favour of A king and if they were not, they could be easily bought by Augutus.. So we settled on making sure where who is priorities lied before finishing them off for good."
I swallowed the bitter taste of guilt. Talking about killing was never easy, especially the people I had known for ages.
"Your sister is doing the right thing, Genevieve. Those men need to be killed otherwise they could be overturned against her. If anything, this is the only way to ensure that everyone left accepts her as the queen."
"She would be a better queen, she would never need a king to protect her."
He nodded, not looking at me and behind me, at the wall, dazed. "Perhaps, she would. But they would always be someone that would have to get her back to the ground. If there is one thing that your sister is similar to when it comes in comparison to your grandfather, it could be ruthlessness."
"I will help her when I get back." I smiled. "Estelle, me and Katherine along with you. Can you imagine?"
He chuckled, his eyes finally turning towards me. "in that case, my favourite child, it would be a new dawn beginning for the kingdom of Melenmore."
It certainly would.
