The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 245: The unfair rule - VI
I blinked as I stared at the door. The only thing I had heard that signified his exit was the closing of the door.
Why did he have to leave like that? He could have answered my question about what he was going to do with the criminal. I do not think the mine targeted me out of spite. He must have seen me through the window as an easy target.
I leaned back on the bed, my eyes got heavier and it was difficult for me to keep them open. I finally stopped fighting the sleep overcoming me and let go as I slipped into it.
******
I blinked as soon as my eyes opened. There was a slight cheering noise coming that woke me up. It was frustrating and I could feel a headache building. My body ached slightly yet I stood up by turning to my side before having my hand hold up the weight of my upper body and standing finally.
I walked slowly, at a snail’s pace, to the window at the very corner of the room. I now highly unappreciated the fact that it was right opposite to where I was, at the very end of the room.
I looked out of the window to find the source of the noise. Only to frown at the small gathering I saw. Almost everyone I knew stood there in the dark. The only light that made everything visible was the torches being led by fire.
What was happening? I tried to make it out and recognise a lot of faces. I could even find the king of Werewolves, Darius standing amongst people behind Arnold.
What was happening?
It was only a small window but I did not take the chance to go outside the room. For all I knew Solomon was still standing there and also, because I could only see half of them from what my window provided as a view.
Something happened because all of their attention turned to the other side of the clearing which was the one that I could not see. It was on the east side of the palace and I tried to lean over the edge to get a good look but nothing. There was almost a big block of wall blocking my view from the East.
I huffed silently. What was happening?
Just as I was about to go back everyone started to step in a circle and that only made me turn around and watch carefully. Two soldiers, as I watched, dragged a body into the middle of the circle and I could see half of it.
They left the body day and I gasped at the beaten and bruised man. For a second I thought it was the prince only for the body turned on his back and I could see the face. It was not the prince, or so I hoped. I cannot see from afar which is why I can tell you to watch everything carefully.
I gulped at the harsh pull two men gave to the men after nearing him. They pulled him on his feet before throwing him near a pole. The man groaned loudly and I winced at the sight.
The man continued to work towards him as they were laughing together before holding the man and lowering the pole. Once the pole was lowered to the ground they placed the man on top of him and tied him over it. Where was Tristan? Was aware of what was happening and his palace?
The pole then was raised up high into the air with the man on it and once it was stabilized enough by slowly pushing it into the ground, they stepped back into the circle and everyone who watched the men cry for help.
Why was it treating it like it was a circus? Why were they treating it like it was fun to them? What had the man done?
It was not over yet because then I saw Tristan come in front of the man and I could see half of them but I could recognise him even from that.
What was he doing?
"You should have thought better than to hate my beloved, my wife, your queen," he yelled as he stepped closer to the man, "and you targeted her specifically. I am going to make sure that you never think of doing that. And when I will be done I shall leave you to the others to learn a lesson from this."
I stepped back slightly. Was this what he meant by I would not like to hear about it? Now that I think of it, I did feel sleepy right after Tristan left. Had sir Dawson put something in the medicine he gave me?"
I watched as Tristan reached over the leg of the man and before I knew it he bit a whole chunk out of his leg throwing the piece of skin on the ground.
My eyes went to the piece of skin that he had thrown away. From afar it looked too small but I knew it was a good chunk of it by the way his leg was leading and the way the man screamed in pain.
I stepped away from the sight. My hands covered my mouth. What in the world! What in the World! What was happening!
The man’s screaming had reduced to crying loudly and my hands went to cover my ears yet I could hear it. He was so loud and in so much pain.
I wanted to help him but I covered my ears and kneeled on the ground as my knees were right next to my chest. I rocked myself back and forth.
He did not stop screaming and I pressed my hands loudly in my ears. I could not deafen them and I could not help him as well.
"Stop," I whispered crying at the fear I felt. His screaming once again rang out and I closed my eyes much more forcefully than before.
"Please stop." I whispered crying myself to sleep trying to tune out his screams by the very end but when I could not the only option left was to drink from the same cup that Dawson had provided to me.
I found the small bottle that he had poured the drink from and without thinking twice I gulped it and shifted inside the blankets. It was not long before I slipped into sleep, hoping that my nightmares would not have his screams in them.
