The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 234: The king’s order - IV
If I could find Tristan anywhere at the moment then it was going to be at the Grand courtroom which was exactly where I headed.
"Stop," Merylin’s hand grabbed mine and she pulled me back. "What is going on with you?" She whispered, watching me with concern in her eyes. "Why are you acting like this?"
What do I tell her? "I. . . I cannot stand the fact that he is being punished because of what humans did?" The sentence ended up being a question from my side and I prayed that Marilyn did not understand or pick up on it.
"Oh," the relief that came to help was visible. "You should have said that but alas, we cannot do anything about it. The king has decided to do something about it and no one can change his mind."
Wrong. "A queen can."
She looked at me in slight shock before beaming at the words. "Really? Do you mean that?"
What did she mean by that? It was obvious in the game of politics and even chess the queen was a powerful weapon. Perhaps Marilyn was less educated to understand that.
"Then I don’t think you should proceed to the courtroom." She checked my hand and made me climb the stairs to one floor above. I was almost about to reach the courtroom.
"Where?"
She shushed me. "You have to do it alone. For now, we have to see." She said as she turned around slightly before continuing pulling me.
"What can I do when I am just saying and not interfering?" I asked before I understood it. " Don’t answer it." I said at the end.
If I challenged him in front of people, he would never listen to me. With Marilyn I had challenged him in private and amongst his closest friends which is why he listened to me. If I did the opposite right now nothing will be in my favour or in this case Aron’s.
We once again appeared on the floor above the courtroom. Everyone was silent and married and I just watched it from the corner not going to sit at the seats above the king.
Marilyn turned to me and placed her finger on her lips. I nodded.
Aron stood in the middle of the courtroom with his head bowed and Tristan was seated in the chair of the king.
"What rules have you broken?" The boys could barely control the anger he felt.
Aron answered without making the king wait, "I harmed a human and bit them, sucked their blood without their permission."
"Three crimes," Tristan whispered but everyone could hear it, "not one but three crimes. I hope you know what that means."
Aron nodded and my eyes caught Darius. He was also sitting in the seats of the ministers with a hard expression on his face. He seemed just like Tristan.
They both appeared to be stubborn on the matter.
"I do," Aron nodded but did not look up at Tristan.
Tristan looked at Vaughn. "He is to receive fifty lashes in the bright Sun without his ring for the next 15 days without a drop of blood to feed on. Is that clear?"
Vaughn nodded with a grim expression on his face. "Clear."
Marlynn closed her eyes and found her entire face in her two hands. She shook her head without removing her hands before looking back at the courtroom. If she was reacting to that, then the punishment was far greater than I imagined it to be. This was grave.
"For the next 15 days you will be kept in the sunlight and even when the sun sets you are not allowed inside the palace. You shall stay outside tied to a pole." Tristan’s words were even more sharp than his eyes. "This is going to be a lesson for all of them who think they can overpower humans!"
It felt nice to know that he was ready to take enough measures to ensure human safety against those who could be overpowered but how was it Aron’s fault when he was tempted?
Vaughn nodded again. "When shall we carry out the punishment?"
Tristan turned his next to look at Vaughn, "tomorrow morning the announcement will be made about the punishment for. I will be there while it is announced to the capital and two days after tomorrow it will be carried out."
If the king deemed it important enough to be there while it was announced that it was very important. Otherwise the king would barely bat an eye, much less stand when announcement for a punishment was being made until he wanted a spectacle to be made out of it or was doing it for fun.
I watched as the king got up and left. Every minister and even the king of a foreign country, who was the best friend of Tristan, stood up in respect. Tristan walked out of the room without looking at the culprit who had still bowed his head in shame and even after the doors closed and the minister started to talk amongst each other Aron did not move his head.
I felt bad. If I had not opened my mouth to defend a man that was dying . . . I sighed woefully.
"That is not good," merilyn whispered to me, "even if we are vampires and we can heal much quicker than humans, he won’t be able to heal from that. The sun and the whip which would have silver in it would nearly kill him if it didn’t."
"Kill?" I stared at her wanting to catch the glimmer of a smile telling me that she was lying.
She nodded and bit her lip as she turned to him. "Aron probably would not survive this."
That was bad. As far as I knew Marilyn, if this was not going to happen then she would have never said it. Merylin hated her close ones dying.
"He will be in his rooms now, won’t he?" I shared as I looked at Aron. He knew what was coming and what I hated was that he could not fight.
