The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 229: No longer a princess - I
I looked to the side where two chairs were and made a move to grab them only for Tristan to walk ahead of me and grab both of them in one go. He placed one behind me and as I took a seat he proceeded to sit down on one himself.
I looked over to see him looking at the sunset. I reached over and grabbed his hand, Keeping the joined hands on my lap as I gazed over the sunset.
He squeezed my hand.

This time I had dinner with everyone and it was not a feast. It was a private event but I still sat in Tristan’s lap without anyone telling me to do so.
I liked it.
"Serve her some more chicken nephew," Chiara’s words made the server with chicken step forward, "she must have some meat on the bones. She has grown too weak."
I did not comment on it even though it pained me slightly. I just released the fact that I was with Kristen as I now relished that I was happy with him.
It was not just something that one expected to blow their minds away with. It was so soothing and calm that no one realised that they were just happy. That was what I felt when I was with Tristan. Most of my worries were gone and the only thing I worried about was concerning us.
Even though I wanted to spend all my time with him there was an underlying fear which I was not ready to let go of as it was not ready to let go of me either.
He fed me more chicken than necessary. At the end of the dinner I had to forcefully shove his hand away because I felt that my stomach was filled to the brim and I could vomit any time now.
"Would I be going to my room now?" I asked him as we started to walk out of the dining room. This one was on the top floor where the family resided.
I really wanted to go to my own room. Being in a room that belongs to the healer’s room meant people coming and going without my permission and that was truly exhausting because I was not sure who was entering and why.
"Not yet," he cast a glance at me as he walked, "you very sick and weak genevieve. You could not even hold consciousness which is why I would still prefer it if you are under the observation of my uncle."
I scrunched up my nose. "Should I not get a human healer? Your uncle must be better in treating people of your kind rather than mine."
He huffed and I found that sarcastic. "My uncle before being turned was an apprentice of a human doctor who was in the palace for the king."
Ohhh, " that is very nice." Being the apprentice of the doctor of the king was no easy task. And in fact it was the most difficult one and there was a lot of competition because everyone wanted to have the favour of the King especially when it came to his life.
If one saved the life of the king you always got a chance of getting something to yourself and kings never paid attention to what it was. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
"But he could still visit me in my room." I argued for my point. "Because I will feel better if I stay there."
He turned his neck to look at me and I made an innocent expression which only had him frown a little and look ahead again.
"I think I can let you stay there from tomorrow onwards, for today, you must sleep in the the room assigned to you because you have had a tough day."
I tsked. I understood that I was a princess and I had never had a day of labour in my life but this was getting excessive. "Tristan, I am not made of glass. All we did was take a walk in the gardens and we were mostly sitting."
He shook his head. "You took the stairs, Genevieve. Four floors of stairs is no less for someone who is still recovering from infection."
I opened my mouth to argue but he raised a finger, "I do not want to hear anything else. Earlier in the evening it was you who advised me to keep you in chains and I will act on it." The expression on his face made me believe that he would without any hesitation or doubt.
"Sure," I squeaked. We shall do whatever the king says. "So from tomorrow on I can sleep alone?"
He looked at me with a raised eyebrow. "Yes if that is what you want and if that is what my uncle permits as your doctor. If not then, I tell you this now only, that I will not have you sleep alone without any supervision."
"I appreciate the warning, thank you," I muttered under my breath but the way he looked at me I knew he had it very easily.
Just as we came to the hallway of the healer Tristan stopped me by holding both of my hands in his. "I understand that these changes are difficult for you. But I’m on again all I can say is I want a chance."
"And I have given you that," or at least I was trying to, "but I just got infected with the mark that you’ve given me. So you must understand that there is a slight fever . . ."
He looked down for a quick moment before looking up again and nodding. "I could let you go if I wanted . ." He trailed off.
"But?" I prompted for more.
He shook his head and squeezed my hands. "I do not want your frail shoulders to be buried with such responsibility."
I narrowed my eyes at the veins in offence because as a princess I had had many responsibilities on the shoulders and they were just fine. "I think you should take that back Tristan. I was a princess once."
"And you still are," he reassured but then shook his head, "actually yes you were a princess one because now you will be a Queen."
