The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 221: The bond - V
"Because I just happened to realise something now." He answered vaguely but from how long I knew Tristan and with the amused expression on his face I knew he was doing this on purpose.
"What?"
He chuckled to himself. "Earlier I used to worry about the information I give you regarding us and how it would scare you to run to The hills but then I remembered where would you go?"
"Wh-what?" This did not feel good to hear and now I was second guessing my question choice.
"Yes," he said as he stepped closer, making me take a step back, "where is it that you can go Genevieve? I will always find you, you know." I believed him. The way his eyes stared into my soul, I need you he meant everywhere.
I took a step back but yelped when I fell on the sofa. He watched me the entire time as I scrambled to sit properly after making a fool of myself. "Run away?" Even if I did you run away, where was I going to go?
"The chains were removed," he reminded me, "you put the threat of running away in front of my beast making him mark and chain you up which is frequently done when mates threaten to run away. . . . Thankfully the mark is only temporary."
I suddenly felt bad. I felt bad and this was such a familiar feeling that it took me to the morning where I had felt it for the first time today. "Tristan, why did I feel like a failure when I failed to fight the pressure of the dominance of your beast?" There were times in my life where I had felt like I was failing someone but never had I ever felt like this about myself and I did not appreciate the feeling.
I had tried for some time in Marilyn’s lap. "Not only that but I craved inside, for you."
Tristan did not reply but stared at me for a long time. The more he remained silent the more the wait got to me. It only made me worried. Finally after an excruciating long period he said, "that is the bond."
"The bond?" I repeated, confused.
He looked around before his eyes settled on me again. "The bond that I talked of is the relationship I share with you as my beloved. Not only that but the bond is what attracts us to be together. The bond is blessed upon us by my God."
"So what I felt," I placed a finger on my chest, right in the middle of it, "what’s the bond between you and me?" The pull I felt towards him was nothing but the bond? 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
He shook his head. "No, those are your feelings for me."
My eyes furrowed immediately at that. "but did you not say that it is the bond between us that attracts us to each other?" Those were his words.
"No, My naive beloved," he sighed loudly, "The Bond works for me and the bond works for you now because you have my mark and my blood in you. What you had for me from before are the feelings unadulterated by any bond."
He bent down in front of me finally giving me the pleasure of being taller in height but that was the least of my concerns.
"Tell me Evie, how long have you had feelings for me? That mark was placed on you merely a week ago. How long have you had feelings for me that I just highlighted by the mark?"
I gulped. He caught me there. But how much of it was true? For all I know, at my side, I did have feelings for him before I was made aware of what he was. But did the bond not pay any kind of role in my affections for him?
"Your heart is beating very quickly, Genevieveve and just because I would like to remind you, do not lie because I will catch it." He warned and the past had quite a lot of evidence about him catching my lies.
I felt this overwhelming need inside me to tell him the truth. Something pushed me to answer him and not keep him waiting. "I had them for a very long time." I whispered very quietly, having half a mind and praying that he did not hear.
He did.
"Then what is it that stops you?" He asked the question that I had heard a thousand times before.
"How do you not see it?" incredulousness was clear in my tone. "Do you remember the night. . . . The night in the forest in the north?"
"The night you ignore with all you have?" He said instead which pinched me but I ignored.
"Nothing more can be done than ignoring it, Tristan. I have moved past it and to get back on the topic at hand, do you remember what you did to those men? Do you remember what you did to me on my neck?"
He tilted his head. "So that is what you are afraid of." He said something under his breath that I could not hear.
He stood up suddenly. "Take the Tiara back with you Genevieve, I shall talk with you later."
Tiara. My eyes went back to the box that contain to the Tiara. He was correct in address in there than I was.
"Wait," I stood up when I saw him move to the door. "Where are you going?"
He pointed to the door. "Allan will not disturb us but I can sense his presence and hear him outside. I am needed Genevieve and you will have to excuse me." He nodded curtly and stepped forward to the door but stopped.
He turned to me again. "As for where your fear stands, I will show that you never fear me again."
With how the mark slightly tingled on my neck I found it extremely difficult to believe him. He stared at me before stepping back and turning around working out of the door leaving me in his chambers.
I blinked my eyes repeatedly to get rid of the tears. The only question now in my mind was how?
