Chapter 214: Dinner with the king - V

I jumped slightly as the entire room went up in a roar. Everyone was excited and cheered by the words of the woman. The liquid out of the glasses spill out slightly making blood splatter onto the cloth covering the table and onto the plates.

My eyes remained on the spilled liquid. They were all drinking blood and did not settle well with me making bile rise up in my throat.

It made me realise that I was in a room filled with predators who were drinking the blood of fellow people that I might have known.

Tristan’s hand reached my waist and it stayed there making me feel conscious. I glanced at it as the hustle and bustle in the room came down very slowly. People were excited and the words said by the woman along with the toast did not do a job of calming them. It only excited them further.

As the people in the room calm down, I focus on what the woman had said. Tristan’s parents had died? But she said that Tristan had avenged the death of his parents which meant that they had to be killed or murdered by someone.

My eyes and waist slowly turned to the man in question who was already looking down at me. He merely raised an eyebrow.

I stretched my lips and shook my head to myself. I could not ask about these questions at least not now and not here. His eyes moved to the front and I followed.

Darius was watching Tristan and they both stared at each other with intense eyes.

They knew something and by the looks of it only they knew it. Allan and other friends of Tristan appeared to be just as clueless. And the same was with the ones that came with Darius. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

I looked up to him, "You should eat," I said softly. I did not want him to be hungry just because I could not I digest what he was eating.

He smirked and leaned down to my ear again. "I love that you care for me but your comfort matters more to me." His words made me shiver especially when his lips touched the shell of my ear. It arose of much of sensations.

It tingled everywhere.

I focused or at least tried to. "But you shoul—’

"Genevieve," he said in my ear again and I shushed immediately, "I can go on without eating for a long time. So now I am content with drinking. You must not worry about me."

Tristan then nodded and the plates were changed. Just when I thought that the desert would be normal I was met with another bloody side which only made me look down at My plate where it was just cake.

Tristan fed me that too.

My eyes went to Allan on whose lap Marilyn was sitting. He was feeding her a bloody dessert just like Tristan was doing with me and Marilyn seemed to be much more happier than me who was being shy about it all.

I have never seen public display of affection. Even my mother was criticized at times for kissing her daughters in front of everyone and when I had to sit in the lap of a man who was feeding me as the king. . . It only made me blush more.

He constantly rubbed my side and by the smile that played on his lips which he was hiding continueousy I knew that he was aware of the fact that he had on me.

After the dinner was over it was obvious that the king of the north had travelled from far so they all had decided to rest early and retire for the night.

Tristan was a escorting me back to my room and this time Solomon and Bert were not following us.

We were silent as we walked. I glanced at him often. Somehow it was in my mind that he was going to talk to Darius and I wanted to know what it was.

"Say it," he said with a sigh, "I can hear you think."

Well then. "Are you going to talk to Darius about the wolf?" I asked without beating around the bush.

Tristan didn’t look at me. He stared forward as we continue to walk. "I don’t see how the wolf is any of your concern. You should focus on healing instead."

"Why does it not concern me? I saw The wolf and attack your aunt!" I whispered the last words loudly. "Should that not matter to you?"

"It does matter to me." He said. "However I do not see how it is any of your concerns because you have not received any of your duties as the Queen." He stopped and turned around to look at me. "I know I must have overwhelmed you for today. How about you have sleep in tomorrow?"

"Sleep in?" I repeated on disbelief. "Are you dismissing me?"

He shook his head seriously. "You are my beloved, Genevieve. I can never dismiss you."

I scoffed. "Yes, as it appears to be you can do everything else except for dismissing me directly. You trying to throw me out the topic. What is it that you’re hiding for me Tristan?"

"I am not finding anything from you." He replied with a small shake of his head as he started walking ahead without waiting for me. I stared at his back as the distance among our started to grow before following him with walking quickly. Just as I fell into step with him I asked him again, "No one is confident and open about the answers of the questions I have and if they do answer then thw follow up questions are never answered. How can you say that everyone is not hiding anything from me?"

"Because I can," he snapped and I flinched at the sudden change.

I did not open my mouth to talk because we had already reached in front of my door. I stayed quiet as reached for the handle to open them.

I watched as his hand grabbed my wrist that was on the door.

"Whatever I do," he said, "I do it for you. If I do not want you to know anything then it is for your benefit."

How? I turned around to ask him that only to find him gone.
