The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 197: His proposal - IV
That did the trick. Narrowed eyes from me were not good.
"It is the mark of a mate, a beloved." She revealed nervously. "It does not go away."
"Never?" I questioned.
She shook her head. "It remains on the skin. Unless you cut the piece of skin out or burn It. Both are extremely dangerous and life threatening which is why no one ever does it. No one chooses to." She mumbled at the end as if it was something extremely sad.
"What is a beloved mark?" I stayed on the topic. I have to know more and from what I know about Marilyn she was going to tell me everything until she finally realised not to do it.
"Well, it’s something that binds the souls together. For humans it could be a wedding ring and a certificate issued by the marriage counselor, for us it is the mark on the neck and the change in scent. It means that the person is mated or married to someone."
My eyes widened slowly as I understood her words. "I am married?" I whispered slowly. Again?
She shook her head immediately. "No, no, you are not married. That is something else."
"What?"
"Sle—Uh, no," she shook her head and looked away.
Sle? What was that? She nearly had it out.
She turned to me but her eyes were on the bowl of soup. "It’s lukewarm now. Perfect temperature for you to drink. Hurry up before it gets cold."
I watched as she turned away. I picked up the spoon and started sipping the soup. Marilyn realised much sooner than I wanted. In fact it had always taken her longer than this. She had caught just in time and it made me slightly worried.
The bowl gradually emptied as I continued to drink from it. Merilyn remained silent and I kept on wondering what was actually happening. It was hard to get a grip on reality.
Just as I placed the spoon beside the bowl Merylin stood up and exchanged it with a plate of chicken and rice.
I already felt like my stomach was full. "I can’t." I told her and she shook her head.
"Sir Dawson said to make sure that you have a little of everything. This is hardly half of what you read on a daily basis princess."
I raised my hand up as the chain dangled, "Unchain me and I will eat it all,"
She sighed. "I do not have the authority."
My heart broke. " This is not fair to me Marilyn. How am I to accept any of this if I am chained like an animal?"
She gulped. "It does not help the man if you’re going to run away. Just have to prove to him that you won’t run and it will be easier after that."
"Would it?" I exclaimed. I could not believe it was the one to say that to me. She has changed completely and all her focus was on her side of people. "You have changed." I concluded as I stabbed my chicken. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
She turned to look at me, "I died, of course I changed." She said in a dry voice before turning away.
She accepted it? Already?
"Do you like it?" It is important for me to know. Merilyn nodded. "Why?" I asked her.
Merilyn smiled. "Love, I found love." I noticed it was a completely different smile that I was used to. It was the smile of a woman in life.
But that does not make sense. "You just met him, how could you fall in love?"
She chuckled. "Just like you did. The first time I saw him I felt something pull me towards him constantly. I just felt that wherever I was going he was following me everywhere and it was not something that could be dangerous. I felt secure in his presence that he would protect me no matter what."
"It was love at first sight. I could say that for me. But after that he has taken care of me in every way. We have argued that he has never raised his voice at me and never have I ever noticed him on the verge of raising his hand." Her hand went to her neck that held the mark given by the man. "It’s not just that I fell for him at first sight, it’s that I fall in love with him everyday."
I smiled at her words, at her happiness. "Bless you Marilyn. Bless you for every happiness." I wished and she smiled but blushed bashfully. She had found love.
But what about me? Was I to stay with the man who was sucking the blood out of people for living himself? Or someone who had almost ripped my throat out and killed me? Or someone who had chained me?
"You could get it too," she softly started to massage my feet, "you do love him Princess and you know that. You feel exactly what I feel for Alan, for Tristan. It is just the thought of going somewhere unfamiliar that you are scared of."
She was correct except for one fact, " it’s not somewhere unfamiliar. It is a totally unknown territory that I am supposed to step into." To love someone on your own was different but you love someone that was completely different from me and was dead was another issue.
I wanted to love Tristan and I wanted to move on but there was some wall that stopped me from doing it.
"Well, if not that then maybe you could consider this for Princess Estelle?" I nodded at her to elaborate. "If we go to war and make sure that the princess gets The throne then the princess will get the throne. We will win."
"But at the cost of what?"
Merylin gave me a sad smile. "You have always been the price. You have always been the step that princess Estelle was supposed to climb."
It hit me like a ton of bricks and it hurt just as much. Marilyn was right because at the end of the day it was me that my sister had to step onto to gather the support that she needed.
