The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 183: The crown of a king - IV
There was a brief flash of shock on the landlord’s face before it went away just as quickly.
"Decently my lord," the landlord repeated as a small sick smile came to his face, "what do you expect for a man to do when she showed her knees while washing clothes? She would push up her sleeves to her arms when she would reach for the water in the well. All these signs were inviting my children and other boys of the village to take advantage of her."
"No, she did not!" Everybody turns to the father of the victim that cried out loudly, enraged at the allegations made on his deceased daughter. "She never did it for you but—"
"Silence," was all Tristan said before everyone felt quiet and the attention returned to him, "what’s that all that made you think she was exciting your boys and inviting them?"
"No," the landlord shook his head, "not only that but the girl acted coy in front of my boys. As if that was not enough she wanted to excite them while acting shy and like a—"
"She never did any of that, my lord. I never raised my daughter to be like that. She never even met their eyes because they would tease her and call her names!" The man cried loudly and I even wanted to step down and helped him.
" One more time," Tristan looked at him and the warning was clear in his voice and eyes, " you talk when you are not spoken to I will have you removed from the court."
The man fell silent and his wife comforted him as she silently cried.
Tristian turned to the man, "landlord, had you ever witnessed the girl behaving like this?"
"No my king," the man said, shaking his head slowly, "I only heard it from the mouth of my child and his friends."
"And you’re telling me word of mouth but not something you show with your own eyes?" 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
"Y . . Yes," he lowered his head.
Tristan nodded. " And why did you choose to kill the girl?"
"She yelled too much," one of the boys spoke up with confidence and his face remained impassive as if it was his decision to do what he wanted with a girl, " she made it hustle more than it did it to be."
I scoffed, along with many others.
"Ah, yes," Tristian nodded understandingly, "Of course we would never let it be a hassle. Even though we were doing it without her permission." He placed his elbow on the arm of the chair and supported his chin with his hand. "Did the girl try to resist and say no?"
"Ma-many times." The boys who I had earlier noticed was fidgety.
"Hmmm," Tristan hummed loudly. "Many Times, you say. Yet you decided not to stop?"
"No, sir." The confident one answered and I finally noticed the similarities between the elder men and him. This one had to be the landlord’s son and his confidence that oozed out of him was the proof of that. "We did not stop."
"So you did not care for her, no." Tristan concluded. "Her no; is of no importance to you. The word with the simple meaning you did not understand." He repeated as he nodded his head to himself.
I slightly and narrowed my eyes at the man and stared at him who sat on The throne. Why was he repeating his words over and over again? Even a slow person would understand by now.
His eyes that were previously averted now look at the culprits in front of him. "I think I understand."
The victim and the deceased girl’s father started to cry. Even I felt ashamed of Tristan.
How could he say that he understood the reasoning behind the boy’s words? If anything that was not an explanation to begin with. He just took advantage of the position that he was in.
"Since you do not understand the meaning of no, neither do I then." Tristan leaned forward on his seat.
His face from the five boys turns to the landlord. He lazily raised his hand and pointed his finger at the landlord, "since the landlord can only relay the word of mouth I would say that he has no use of his eyes. Take his eyes away." He raised his voice at the command he gave at the end and the Guards immediately stepped forward and seized the man.
"For the young boys," he now turned to them, "I want these boys to be stripped of their clothes and tie them down with rope as they are dragged by a carriage."
" No!"
"Please, your highness! No!"
The cries of resistance from the boy’s was immediate and Tristan only limited back in his chair but then leaned his ear towards them.
"No?" He repeated what the boys were constantly yelling out, "I don’t think you understand the meaning of the word no and neither do I." He grinned, "I think it works well for the both of us."
The boys with tree fell to the knees as distorted wedding Tristan but still did not give them any mind as he stood up and I watch The man with the Crown of a king on his head.
Tristan’s posture remain straight and regal of a king as he held his head high which have the crown sitting on it with pride. No one could tell that he was a king that overthrew the previous royal family. He looked like he was born for it.
". . . The punishment given to the landlord is to be carried out first so that his children can watch." He continued but this time loudly making his voice echo in the giant hall, " this is to be done publicly and every town crier shall recite the entire happening in every village and town. The public will watch the entire punishment and make sure that they know the reason why."
And here I thought that the King could never care.
