Chapter 160: Sorting the past - II

"That’s enough," I informed Laila who was tightening the strings of the corset. She acknowledged my reply and brought on the upper part of the dress.

It was as if I was beginning everything in a new light. Marilyn had known everything about me. She was good at performing the task that Dorothy and Laila were trying to learn. It was usually Marilyn that had instructed them on what to do and how.

It had been two days and these two had finally gotten the gripes of what anna had told them.

Dorothy completed my hairdo. Instead of tying them up completely she had left half down and half up. "Done." She stepped back. "Breakfast now, your grace?"

I nodded, playing with my rings,"In the sitting room. I would—"

"Your grace," Laila hesitantly cut me off stared at Dorothy in uncertainty before returning to me, "Ms Anna informed us that you are to have breakfast in the dining hall today."

My eyes raised instantly and I found hers looking at me in the mirror before she averted her eyes away. "You could not inform me about this when I woke up?"

She gulped, "Ms Anna told us to tell you when you were ready. The king wants to have breakfast with you."

I scoffed and stood up. They all knew that I was avoiding getting out of the chambers. Seems like my hiding was noticed by everyone.

"But what am I afraid of?" I mutter to myself. I had been a princess and I had been taught many things. Many never had the privilege of receiving. I could carry out conversations better than anyone so what was afraid of? "I could do it."

I nodded to myself and then turned around, "Let’s go." I walked out the door and Bert along with Solomon walked behind me. I knew the way to the dining room as I had once dined with the queen and the prince . .

Where were they?

Solomon stepped ahead and opened the door for me. Entering the room I immediately found Tristan who stood up and pulled out the chair on his right. That was the chair where the queen sat.

I felt the flush on my skin. His gaze was too much.

I looked around the dining room, yet longing to see him. There were no other chairs apart from those two.

"I think I would be more comfortable sitting there." I pointed to the other end of the table. That is directly in front of him and the farthest point I could find. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"Oh, would you now?" He straightened up. "How about we remove this chair and you sit on my lap?"

My eyes widened and I blinked as I looked away from the man. How he suggested something like that!

"Hmm?" He brought my attention back to him, "let me call someone take the chair—"

"I’ll sit there." I hushed out, "I . . Will sit there." I pointed to the chair that he now had his hand on the top of.

He pulled it out for me to sit and then took his. Tapping on the table twice, the food was served to us.

They left, leaving me alone with him. The silence ate me yet I did not try to fill it up.

"Genevieve,"

I took a bite before looking at him. He had already placed his cutlery down and was watching me keenly.

"About Diwal," he started taking me by surprise, "we have found him in a remote corner, a village quite far from the capital and we will bring him here by tomorrow evening."

By now I had placed my own cutlery down. "How did you know about him?"

"Solomon told me about it."

I stared at him to see if he was serious before scoffing. I could not believe that he had snitched. "I find it hard to believe. Is it anything that they would keep from you?"

"Yes, there are many things that my comrades keep for me." He pointed out. "As for you, everything I want to know is told to me."

I glared at him. "So anything I want to be done needs to be approved by you first?"

He shook his head in Denial. "Anything you want to be done will be done when you want. Apart from the fact If it is dangerous other than that I will always be informed."

I looked away from him and focused on my plate. They were going to tell him whatever I was going to do.

He was going to know everything. It did not work in my favour that everyone working here now was under his control.

On my way back I noticed that the palace seemed almost empty. There were no servants, no Guards standing there. This was contrary to what I had seen out of my window at night. There were many people outside then.

Why were people standing outside of The palace at night? If there was a celebration then I would have seen it.

Shaking my head, I walk away. There was much to be talked about.

When I entered my hallway, I remembered something but what happened at breakfast also stayed in my mind. I had asked Solomon two days ago about Diwal which meant that he had a lot of time to tell Tristan about it.

I turned to look at him, "where is Allan?"

"Allan?" He repeated. "He must be in his room now."

That is exactly what I had expected. If I went to meet Alan right now Solomon would not have enough time to tell Tristan about it and he won’t be there to chaperon the meeting.

Perfect.

Also this time he won’t be able to snitch and Tristan would definitely hold that against him.

I smiled. "Take me to him."

"Now?" He repeated and even though he was not showing his panicked expressions I could hear it in his voice.

"Yes," I nodded and held my hand forward, "lead the way."
